Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Sir if valves are leaking then what parts are needed to be replaced? I had seen a passion pro with so much black oil on spark plug thread but no white smoke came from exhaust even on full throttle. Oil was only on plug thread the firing tip, porcelain and ground electrode were dry. Its compression was a little less too as you told. I think its valve stem oil seal or some other parts too?Originally posted by ranjithp View Post

Brezon95 ,, the stock chain set lasted for about 18k kms..but it needed constant adjustments. Then I got the DRD Super Splendor chain set installed. This one is way better than stock, doesn't need adjustments every now and then. Having run this DRD setup for about 20k kms, got one link removed from chain. Now this DRD setup has run nearly 34k kms in total.

Hmm it seems like my dad's bike is also fitted with that kind of chain set. It always needed frequent adjustments and now at 19.5k kms its at the of its life. Will be going for DID chain set and front sprocket. @all should I change the rear sprocket too? I read that rear sprocket does wear out so much as compared to front. Please give your advice should I change that too or not.Originally posted by EnigmAnurag View PostBrezon95 ,, the stock chain set lasted for about 18k kms..but it needed constant adjustments. If valve have only leak, and the valve stem and other parts are good ,then we need replace these parts only
1.gasket set
2.o-ring
3.the valve seal
A good valve lapping can make a valve free from leaking.
From this problem I feel may the valve seal is bad.Another thing i saw is the some mechanics use the oil on plug to easily tighten the plug.
This will also a cause for oil on spark plug thread. If the valve oil seal is leak we can saw the white smoke on cold start. And oil shortage after a 700- 1000 km run
The compression loss depends upon different things, piston rings, burnt exhaust valve, valve leak,
less valve clearance, and bad valve spring etc .It can only tell after inception
The senior members can provide more guidance on this.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Looks like Hero's stock chain quality has come down. My 2001 model Spelndor's chain lasted for 80k+ kms!Originally posted by EnigmAnurag View Post@Brezon95 ,, the stock chain set lasted for about 18k kms..but it needed constant adjustments. We used to lube the chain once in a while, thats it.
Even my Hunk's chain lasted for 40k kms and was still good for another 5k atleast.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Chain quality actually depends on make. Hero make chain is not of very good quality which is evident from all these posts stating that it was replaced at about 20k approx. But if you get Rolon or Diamond with your bike as stock then it will last 40k minimun with very less maintenance.

Brezon95 ,,sorry man.. bike is with my brother ..so dont have any pics to show. But the setup is simple. Get pulsar genuine plug cap from bajaj company spares shop. It costs 57rs. It has bajaj logo on plug cap and 1 ohm is also mentioned. Then take the rubber seals from the stock cap & put them on the new cap. Then simply put the new cap in bike & you are all set.

Actually my stock plug cap does not have any rubber seal. Thats why its going kaput in rain again and again. Now I shall buy rubber seal from outside and install it with a pulsar plug cap.Originally posted by EnigmAnurag View PostBrezon95 ,,sorry man.. bike is with my brother ..so dont have any pics to show. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
I am interested in digital tachometer so that it will help in tuning motorcycle perfectly. I come to know about 2012 posts where Pinaki & Shoeb were intersted in.Originally posted by Brezon95 View PostSomeone had fitted old cbz analog tachometer on his bike. Any update ?
