[QUOTE=jishnu ramakrishnan;1271095]Thank you bro. You are always welcome to hit the highways of TN anytime. The sceneries in Kelara are just awesome.Originally posted by jeswin View PostRode from workplace to hometown since we got a couple of holidays for Pongal.
Great ride Jeswin bro.
We kerala people cannot even think of such a long ride. Here roads are narrow and congested. A 60+ km ride will be tiring.
Serviced the bike today. Jobs done were,- [*=1]Water wash
[*=1]Replaced the throttle cable. Regarding the old cable, the idling rpm was a bit higher even the throttle is fully closed. Problem solved now.
[*=1]Added some washers in the chain cover's bolts as the chain was hitting the cover when riding in potholes and rough patches. Problem solved
[*=1]Adjusted the clutch play.
[*=1]Changed the air filter
[*=1]Cleaned the spark plug
Bought a bottle of Veedol take off 4t 20w 40. Will replace it once the bike hits 50k. Odometer stands at 49,806 km. Satisfied with the bike till now.

with generous help from ranjithp brother I changed the clutch cable. It was too tight and with lesser free play. Now clutch become hazzle free and kick slip stopped.
Cleaned and refitted Carburetor also. It was rustful due to tank rust. Will replace throttle cable soon. I also suffers jeswin Brothers issue.
Now waiting egerly for the tool kit sent by cousin brother.Last edited by jishnu ramakrishnan; 01-24-2017, 03:29 PM.

Carb tuning done. I had cold start issues and now it solved. Tuning is a bit above the 1.5 turns of afr.
I need a method to detect air leak in intake manifold and via air screw. If anybody have ideas please share.
Tried Castrol power 1 15w 40 on my bike. I will post the 1000 km oil review soon.Last edited by jishnu ramakrishnan; 01-24-2017, 09:24 PM.

Yes brother , my tune is also at about 1.7 - 1.8 turns out on the air-screw .Originally posted by jishnu ramakrishnan View Post.. Carb tuning done. I had cold start issues and now it solved. To detect intake leaks , warm up engine and keep it idling with bike on mainstand . Now spray the suspected areas with carburetor-cleaner spray . If there is a leak , the idling rate & sound would change as the combustible aerosol is sucked into the engine intake through the leak . You can use an unlit cigarette lighter also same way to introduce combustible gas near the leak , but with gas it's difficult to see exactly where it's going on the engine .

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
the air-filter inner yellow foam kind of disintegrated by itself while being cleaned in kerosene . lasted 6.5 years .. this one came with the bike . upto now I have had to replace 2 of the thin black outer foams because of tearing but this is the first inner one to go .
I keep 2 sets of air-filter foams for rotation , so used the other one .
This idle-jet marked Keihin 38 , was well clogged . Rest of the carb was spot clean . This is the 4th time I opened the carb and every time this same idle jet was clogged . It's center hole is very very fine , and clogs easily I think or what ?
Fuel tube is cracked ! dang , have to wait untill can get replacement
Okay , today ( friday ) from shop next to my workplace I got what I think is the fuel-tube for Honda_Unicorn ? It's 5cm longer , has some kind of sheath & a strange bend at one end . The sheath removed & cut to size it should do the job .
Update sunday 29th : All done, she is back in business . Starts up quick and idles by herself with less than 30 seconds of warm-up from full dead cold engine . Tune is at 2 turns out on the air-screw , shall fine-tune later . Purrs eagerly to 60 with the fresh oil . Went for a spin around
* Honda's fuel tube for Rs 20 is super quality + bit of extra length , going to buy a spare

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Although running fine now , I found this highly suspicious
It looked and smelt like old engine oil . And I am suspecting this ( red circled part ) , because it is the only way engine oil can get spewed at the carburettor's air-intake port . Even if it was a drop or two in total . And no , I never overfill oil .

I guess it is known as a "Air suction valve" and also made by Keihin-fie like the carb . I am not fully clear about it's functions on the Splendor . It is connected to the engine intake manifold , exhaust port on the head , clean-air side of the air-filter-box and also crankcase I think . Friends , It would be great if anyone can give me some clues how to open , clean & service it . Because I feel it is sticking or dirty in some way as to vent little bit of my precious engine-oil alongwith the crankcase gasses into the air-filter
. Please .
