Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Yes it will happen like this. Keep opening the screw till the rpm no longer increases and opening it further the rpm decreases. The point where rpm does not increase anymore (opening further decreases the rpm) is the point of correct tuning.Originally posted by deep007 View PostBro when i loose the screw the rpm increased. When i tight the screw the rpm goes down
If you run your bike with a lean mix it will damage the engine. When you are running lean you have to use more throttle to gain the same speed which you will easily gain in optimal mix. Running lean also makes the engine very hot thus increase in engine wear.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
This brilliant post by paul.1911 sir is very very helpful for anyone tuning a carb. Go through this. I am sure it will help you.
Originally posted by paul.1911 View PostNow the question is how to get perfect tune. There are few key points that YOU must UNDERSTAND and FOLLOW.
The place of tuning: You must tune in a quite place where there is absolutely very less background noises and all you can here is only your bike rpm with deep concentration. And there should be no one to distract your concentration in listening to rpm.
Patience: This is vitally important to have patience while you tune. It takes almost 10-15 minutes of concentration while tuning and most people want the result in 2-3 minutes which is NOT possible therefore they give up saying 'I can't do this'. And that's the reason why they fail while they tune because they might be thinking 'someone is watching them and laughing what this guy is doing'. Because of this another thought in mind they can't focus on what they are doing, and they end up with thought 'I can't do this!' -personal experience.
You have to give up that all. While you tune sit comfortable and feel comfortable. Makesure there is no such thing in your bike which would rattle with the vibration because that sound will mixup with sound which you want to hear. Keep aside your tools.
Now, hold the leg guard and keep you eyes stick in the utility box (thats what i do) and see its frequency of vibration.
At that 1/8 gap you will find one point where the vibration will be in an uneven pattern. We need the equal pattern of the vibration, where the up and down frequency will be exactly same. We need the same pattern of frequency, the vibration.
You need to use your 3 sanctuary factors out of 5. Those are: touch, see and hear.
Now touch the leg guard and feel the vibration. Don't focus on that part much. What most important is what you hear and see.
Hear the sound very very closely. You must able to create an image, a picture in the screen of your mind of the flow, the pattern of the vibration and it should be same, not uneven.
See closely your utility box vibrating and you will notice the difference.
Dont make a change in air screw too frequently. Hold on to that for 30-60 secs before you make a change or you are sure about that this is not the correct point.
Move back & forth the air screw very very lightly and notice the changes.
REMEMBER changes in rpm doesn't reflect instantly, you must give a time before you can notice the change and moving ahead altering the air screw.
When you look at the utility box closely you will find the vibrating pattern. Hold on to that area and keep altering the air screw before you can see the equal pattern in the vibration.
Read this twice, thrice and understand what i am trying to say. What i have wrote now is i have gained thru my own experience with multiple attempts (may be 15-20 attempts or more) of trying to get the best results. You can't get it at 1 or 2 attempts, that's what most people want and fail. You must give yourself enough time, don't see the clock running. Follow the above advise and when you're done with tuning, drive your bike for 2-3 days before you can check your mileage and plug because bike takes time to adjust itself, to get habituated of the change in the new AFR.Last edited by Brezon95; 07-22-2016, 09:32 PM.

Re: My overhauling experience!!
1) No i think. It would be different bore. sibun can tell more clearly about this as he is a master mind of bikes.Originally posted by sureshhicet View PostDear paul ,
i have few doubts .
1)is it possible to install spledndour bore piston in passion pro .
2)How to tighten the head bolts of splendour and the side holder bolts the order . since oil always leaks into the bore
2) its not the order, its the way you tighten. I tight the top 4 nuts in the criss cross pattern. Make sure piston rings orientation is correct and the head o-ring is new and intact in its place. Sometimes while tightening the o-ring gets misplaced. So you need to make sure about that while tightening otherwise oil will leak to the camber. Valve oil seal should also new. Once you tighten the nuts, then tight the side nut.| SOL 68s | Rynox Tornado Pro | Rynox Advento | Cramster TRG2 | Scoyco MC20 | Hero 5 and SJ6 |

Re: My overhauling experience!!
Sibun ji , could you pls help me out here .
Passion pro uses a different head gasket. compared to splendor it do sent use any O-rings between head and bore . Most of the time when i assemble oil leaks into the bore and changes afr .
So planned to use splendour bore since it will have a oring so that oil will not leak . right now i have used splendour head on passion pro to check whether there is any diff since passion pro comes with roller rocker arm . now after using the splendor head the torque has increased . I used sealant to stop oil leakage .
And thanks paul for valuable response

15 years of joy ride
On this 8th july, joy passed its 15th birthday milestone. Looks like time flies really quickly. I was in class 8 when Joy was added to family. Who knew that day that a bike was not bought. A family member was added to family.
We lived in a small town at that time. The day we bought her it was raining heavily. The roads were filled with knee deep water. Irony is that on its 15th birthday it was also raining heavily. Life has always been joyous on joy. Each time you ride, you forget the world. The engine has always been silky smooth. Gearbox is so smooth and reliability is just unmatched.
Bike runs and runs and again runs. At present at 3.92 lacs. Running has lessened in sometime now. Time was there when it ran 68k in one year. Many wonder is it 15 years old?
As with norm on every birthday i washed the bike and took it for puja.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Already re-registration has been applied for. Since it was in chandikhol RTO, which we no longer reside, so had sent the documents before hand to get the paper work done.
On the last saturday went to chandikhol to get the re-registration done. All work was over by 12 but the MVI was not there. Since he will return at 4, so have to wait.
Since home is 70 kms didn't think of going back. It was raining that day. So thought of roaming places as there are some scenic places nearby.
At a company owned, company operated petrol pump on way
Nature at its best and purest form
Doesn't she looks fresh even after all this years.
A little bit of offroading
My personal favorite photo
Climbing a small hill with no roads. Spot the bike
Rock climbing
Soon the mvi returned and bike was lined up for re-registration. Mine was the only bike. Rest was all commercial vehicles for fitness renewal. All people are wondering does this look like 15 years. Some are saying it looks like 5 months bike.
Some are saying me that you are not serious. You have applied for re-registration?
But finally bike was inspected. As usual full marks in fitness and i was happy man
Returned home as the RC card will come by post.

If you are using splendor head, then you can use splendor bore. Main difference was in the head facing. If you have changes head, then bore change is no problem.Originally posted by sureshhicet View PostSibun ji , could you pls help me out here .

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Hi All! My bike Passion Pro running perfectly with 5000+kms clocked. Thanks to all the members here who have helped me.
People here doing DIY stuff have really encouraged me to DIY. Now I am also slowly collecting all the beginner tools. Here is a pic of my collection till now.
And today I finally got hold of Veedol Take Off 10w30. Its a 900ml bottle. I got it for Rs.240. I am attaching pics please tell if its genuine or not.
Also I want to ask can I use 2T oil for chain lubrication? I have Gulf Pride 2T Semi synthetic.
Thanks.Last edited by Brezon95; 07-29-2016, 10:00 PM.

No use EP 90 grade gear oil for chain lubrication. Nothing else.
And use veedol. You will forget all other oils.
Now i am sure other companies will sue me for making there sale decrease.
