valve stem seals, piston rings leaky valves anything csn be the culprit here.. change engine oil to 10w40 shell and check again. Oem grade is 10w30 but I have read in the thread everyone has used 20w50 also
Wait for the experts to guide you now,

Check exhaust tip for black deposits.Originally posted by Jith_in View PostSmoke is white. Bike has run 18k. Plug was changed at 14k

Worn valve guides can cause smoke on cold starts.
At 18k, there is hardly any chance for engine issues.

How much oil did you fill and how ? I guess you are overfilling engine oil . Replace spark plug cap with OE hero part of same type ( black ) .Originally posted by Jith_in View PostSmoke is white. Oil using is oe hero 4t premium made by tide water co.

Not me, service center guys are filling oil. After filling checked oil level and it was between max and min levels(upto max level).Originally posted by Pinaki View PostHow much oil did you fill and how ? I guess you are overfilling engine oil . Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
This is some other bike's dipstick , but should give the idea ... I'm sure you already know all this , but to eliminate any chance of over-filling ....

Reading of oil level just when filled may not be accurate . Oil level should be measured after riding the bike sometime . Wait for 10-15 mins after you stop the engine , bike in mainstand on level ground . Unscrew the dipstick and wipe it clean with cloth , then reinsert the dipstick straight all the way it goes until it's just resting on the threads of the hole . i.e without screwing it in . Withdraw it swiftly and check the level . Wipe off the dipstick again and re-check twice . Oil level is something we don't want to make a mistake with . Excess oil is as bad as low oil , so best to keep the level between max & min at all times - anything above the min mark is okay . Top up whenever lower . Also , better not leave oil filling to service guys - at least I never trust anyone with my bike's oil - from bitter experiences
.

Pinaki ji.. I have already know all these. And i am following the correct manner to check oil level. But my father trust his mechanic (since 25 years) and he will change oil or any work at his sc without even telling me. That mech has good knowledge about almost all bikes now on road. And he deals with all those. No complaints about his work till now.Originally posted by Pinaki View PostThis is some other bike's dipstick , but should give the idea ... Kept at 1.5 but it is vague setting as i am getting poor mileage and top end . Tune it yourself as its best done by oneself. I have seen in my friend's splendor it has 1.7 so the setting varies .Originally posted by Jith_in View PostActually It was not factory setting. Sc guys played with it. Sorry for my bad input. Stuck clutch in Dream Yuga
Sorry for interrupting this thread.. Facing a breakdown in my Dream Yuga. I thought it's best to consult experts from this thread.
In my previous post of 29 April I had mentioned about lack of compression in my Dream Yuga.. Back then the bike had automatically returned to normal..
Today again I'm facing the same problem. I had just started from my home when suddenly the bike stalled. Tried to start but found very little compression in kick lever. Then tried using kick by depressing clutch in 1st gear. Shocklingly the bike moved forward even though the clutch was depressed. Same happened in 2nd gear also. Tried multiple times but then gave up as I was afraid of damaging some internals in this process. That the bike is moving forward indicates that clutch is not disengaging even after depressing the lever. What could be the reason? Bike has done just 8000 km and I dont ride the clutch, so question of bust clutch plates does not arise. The bike hasn't started yet...
Please help...

Then start by checking the clutch cable, if possible remove it and inspect and reinstall it with the right amount of free play adjusted. Replace if found damaged
Next it could be the clutch plates sticking together or the clutch springs/basket are damaged. You need to pull apart the clutch assembly and inspect, then replace the necessary parts.
This is best left to the ASC since your bike is done only 8000km (hope its in warranty ?! - but very unlikely you will get warranty on clutch, try your luck and be firm if its any of the clutch components - plates/springs/basket) - or a local mech you trust.
Also do get the compression checked for using a compression gauge - hopefully the asc has a compression gauge
btw, do you regularly change engine oil (say at approx 3000km at least) and is the correct oil level maintained at all times?Last edited by s1d; 06-09-2014, 04:31 PM.

Re: Stuck clutch in Dream Yuga
Bike is Oct 2012 model. Service (oil change, etc) is done at ASC every 4 months. Last oil change done 2000 km ago.Originally posted by s1d View PostThis is best left to the ASC since your bike is done only 8000km (hope its in warranty ?! - but very unlikely you will get warranty on clutch, try your luck and be firm if its any of the clutch components - plates/springs/basket) - or a local mech you trust.

The ASC is 35 km away, local mechanic 8 km and since the bike is not starting, i"ll have to tow it. (lot of expense). Also till date ASC experience has been miserable (my bike had faulty chain kit and ASC guys struggled badly to sort it), so I'm wary of giving them my bike..
As mentioned in my previous posts, bike's clutch was not progressive enough and would jump on releasing, resulting in tak-tak sound from chain. Maybe this was a preliminary sign of clutch failure..??
