If you don't mind may i dare to add one more thing Bro Divyansh, for runin do put up a fan in front of the engine while you you keep your engine in idle state, most of the times people leave there vehicle in idle state and dosen't provide any type of cooling which do more harm than good.

@ Sibun,
Amazing report, had never seen a engine rebuild and very happy to see a very clean engine
you had mentioned about regular oil change being responsible for this, did you replace oil by looking at oil condition or every xxxx kms ? If based on kms is it same as recommended in manual
Also thanks for taking time to read my long post ( or rant ) on Dream Yuga and commenting on it, been a frustrating experience, I had hoped to have a Honda Dream quality experience and it turns out to be a Nightmare experience, wish i had waited for Hero Xpro or continued with my old TVS Victor :-(Do speed breakers break speed or break backs !!!

Sibun sir, good job there.
@all, no posts from me, because my bike is not giving me any problems. The odometer is at 13950 kms now.
Lot of complaints about shine? Let me also add to it. Sorry in advance for going off topic. My friend purchased a shine in 2011. It had carburettor problem. When he told the showroom guys, they simply removed a carburettor of a shine in stock and replaced it in his shine. Sad but true. In 2012, my cousin bought a shine, within 3 months his electric starter was not working. Luckily he got it replaced since it was under warranty.

Yes fitting the spring is as you have mentioned. But while joining the crank I just fit the kick to kick rod and twist the kick fully down. Then after the cases have joined, i release the kick and it falls correctly with the gear box.Originally posted by paul.1911 View Post@sibun
oh man...
simply amazing.... i love to see such overhauls.
By the way, what is that kick method? "Easiest method is fixing the lick lever and adjusting"?
adjusting what? You mean that kick return spring. In my time, i did that using a screw driver, first matched the marks of kick leaver & spring. Then using a screw driver rotated it, and then pushed IN, its position.
Hero OE parts are one of the best. Last time there was lots of complaint in OE bore so used USHA bore. This time opened the OE bore and checked the piston to bore clearance, ring gap and only after getting satisfied bought the OE bore. If was not satisfied then would have gone for USHA. Moreover lakhs of bike runs on OE bore and has no problem. Hero has changed the quality of kits and the new kits have such tighter clearance that i am using 10W 30 in my Joy.
What you say is correct but i never run the engine continuously for one hour. I start the engine for 10 minutes then stop it for 10 minutes, then again for 15 minutes and then again rest for 15 minutes. like this it continues for 2 hours. And the engine is always idled at an open space with adequate flow of air and in night time.Originally posted by kusmaker View PostIf you don't mind may i dare to add one more thing Bro Divyansh, for runin do put up a fan in front of the engine while you you keep your engine in idle state, most of the times people leave there vehicle in idle state and dosen't provide any type of cooling which do more harm than good.
I replace oil when i feel the oil is not doing its job. If the engine feels rough and gear feels rough on heating, i change the oil. I also check the oil and if i feel the oil has thinned out a lot, or is dirty i change it. A good oil will always turn black quicker as it helps in cleaning the engine. In my experience shell oils have the highest detergents.Originally posted by dream_victor View Post@ Sibun,

Ya with passage of time hearing increasing complaints of Honda bikes. Ya you could have waited for xpro as it is also bigger in size and have thicker tyres than dream yuga. Do you have the victor or not.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
unfortunately i sold my Victor as I couldnt keep both bikes, probably wasnt one of my good decisions
OT, But I've heard that TVS bikes also are of good quality even in recent times, Phoenix/Jupiter build quality seems good
Regarding the oil change, does oil smell carbon even if its ok to use some more or if there is carbon smell we need to replace asap ?Do speed breakers break speed or break backs !!!

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Oil change is done purely on trial and usage basis , say i do a lot of highway trips then the oil will last a bit longer, but the same oil will wear out faster in city usage due to stop-go nature. After engine rebuild oil is drained just after 2-300kms , I drained 20w40 oil after head and clutch job. I am a bit paranoid on oil changes and do 3-400kms before drain period. A early oil change is not a problem. Be sure you stick to correct grade of oil otherwise it may cause problems further.Originally posted by dream_victor View Postunfortunately i sold my Victor as I couldnt keep both bikes, probably wasnt one of my good decisions

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Guys what happened, this thread is dead for so many days. Guess no one is interested in buying new splendor/passion and all. Let it be, we old owners are just left with these bikes. Some updates on my Joy. Bike has crossed 2000 km after engine re-build. When the engine was re-bulit we used Hero 10W 30 oil as the new bore was too tight to use 20W 40 oil. At 500 km drained the oil and filled Veedol 10W 30 premium oil. After the engine re-built had tuned the bike at idle. After the rings settled down the engine started to misfire. Opened the plug to see that the mixture had become super rich. Re-tuned the engine and the bike became super smooth. Spark plug color is now brick red and bike runs as smooth as it gets. Checked mileage recently and bike is returning 86 kpl and under normal riding returning around 75-78 kpl. Have couple of times pushed till 70 kph and no more as letting the engine settle properly. Changed the front brake cable and also the front brake shoe to OE and the front brake now bites like DISC. One of my cousin brother rode some days prior when we were going to give the extreme for ring change and he was just amazed as how the bike was running. Another funny incident my younger cousin brother and his friends were talking and his friend has brought a new bike( cant remember what) and he was praising how smooth it is. Then my cousin brother said, just ride my brothers joy and you will see smoothness and peace of riding definition will change for good. Will post some photos to make this thread lively on sunday.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Hat's off man, so you mean to say the newer engines are more reliable and fuel efficient then before becuase of tighter clearance, nearby to my house there is a flowerist who has got splendor pro, and his bike's engine crank has started making noise in just seven months.

Past few weeks i have been sitting idle doing nothing , so called up some stockists and got myself some goodies . First was fuel cap lid , old one had play and came out no matter it was locked . Next i got carb slide just to check whether it is responsible for rough idling , my hands are itching to work on splendor but bike is with my brother who is 200km away . Some pics now

Even I've heard lot of complaints about Shine, like giving low mileage after a few services, like that.
Wonder how it had become the top selling 125cc bike!

Are you asking on being sarcastic on my post. I couldn't make the head or tail about your mood. Nothing just asking as i am confused.Originally posted by SparKot View PostThank you for commenting on clearances.

kusmaker- The said florist may not have changed engine oil on time and riding the bike by lugging the engine. Most people just disconnect the speedo for higher running to preserve free service but do not know what damage they are doing. And if it is a genuine case then he can call hero toll free number and his will be completely re-built under warranty.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Clearances was brought up couple of years back when debate concentrated on Honda switching to 10w30 API grade. While some claimed the move was for mileage & hence environment friendly, others were with improved technology in engine production & oil filtration. I would like to take sides with improved technology. There is no honest path to prosperity - KoKa

@all- The intention of this post is to give special thanks to RohIIT for trying to find my Joys tank, panels and other few parts. Hats off to you for your efforts and also for your continuous trying to get parts. A loud applause to you from me and also i am really thankful to you for this.
Others like shoeb2015 and many others who have tried but not succeed also deserve a special thanks for their effort and also for doing this for friendship.
Be sure when we meet i will thank you personally to all.
RohIIT- contact him and i have also asked my father if he knows someone in that godown as his bank has financed that godown.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Oh thank you for clearing the doubt. This will help both of us as it cleared the doubtful atmosphere between us. Good that you wanted to know. Will post details about clearance before and after when i get some data after measuring all.Originally posted by SparKot View PostI'm really sorry, sarcasm is/was not my intent. And that spark plug, will post pictures how my joys sparkplug looks like. I have never seen such color in any bikes even in my pleasure and extreme. Guess what present day bikes are tuned to run leaner and so there perfect setting comes at a leaner settings than my Joy.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
I am so sorry, lots of updates are pending from my side.
My splendor is running beautifully. I have done almost 6000kms on splendor in last six months whereas my xtreme has covered a little less than 800kms in the same period.
OT-
Due to delayed monsoon this year, there is no sign of any rain here. It's almost end of June yet it feels like May.
