Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Hello good people around here. I don't know how to start. I am a newbie rider (total experience is around 150 kms [emoji3] ). So I have no knowledge to add to this but I only want to share my thoughts. I have recently bought my first bike and started learning riding properly. As I started my interest also grew. On this Friday night I got the link of this thread on Google. Started reading and OMG! What a thread. Went to page one post one and started reading from there. 98% of things went over my head by its the knowledge and you people's attitude that kept me hooked. Finished reading just now. So I thought may be I should share my thoughts too.
I don't have a hero or hero honda bike. By all my family members are hero honda fans. My uncle has a splendor bought around 16 years ago. Still going strong. It doesn't smoke and the engine has never been opened! Another brother has the same bike and around 12-13 years old and more than 1 lakh kms in the odo. But no engine rework has been done. This figures tells the quality of the bikes itself. I too had first bike riding on my uncle's splendor. My maternal uncle has a super splendor. I once tried it and still remember how smooth it was.
Now my only regret is I don't have a hero bike. I want to learn and learn from you people but I can't post my queries about other bike in here because it will be off topic. I really envy this thread. This is not fare. Why all the good people will only be in this thread [emoji19]
Hope this thread to be going forever and people like Sibun pinaki psr Paul and others keep on contributing.
Heck i wish I had a splendor.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Welcome Rajesh to this thread.
Yeah this thread is a bible for bikes. But it is not limited to splendor series bikes. You own a gixxer sf i think. Any doubt and problems you can ask here. I will be glad to help you.
This is a technical thread than anything else.
And sure these bikes lasts long, way long than any bikes in market. Its only because of the simplicity and quality by Hero.
Now i have not been active here for many days due to some or other problems.
My bike has crossed 3.87 lacs kilometers and now its running towards the 4 lacs milestone.
My extreme got a engine overhauling in the month of august. So it took rest after that till run in was completed in city.
So the highway runs to office on sunday and back on weekends was handed over to Joy. So for 6 weeks it was running 170 km on monday and returning the same on weekends. Moreover local running at work place. A total of 500 kms in a week.
The weekend was trusted to extreme for city running.
Bike did extremely well and i could easily cruise at 70-80 kph. Also top speed i touched was 100 kph on speedo with luggage.
The surprising thing was while returning on weekends we used to return two people( a colleague of mine). Two people, both our luggage and we both. Still have space to move around and also bike was still easily cruising at 70-80 kph easily. Mileage was always 70+ most of time.
However did some works on Bike in these 3 months.
Overhauled the front shocks with new oil seal and endurance fork oil .
Ok did some other change.
The bike was back firing on closing the throttle after full opening. The fault was i know the SAI valve. But it was not available. After ordering and waiting got it after 3 weeks.
Changed the SAI and the air screw of carburettor. Bike is now as good as new. Sounds super smooth and tuning is constant strokes. Also the air filter was changed.
Engine oil as usual using Veedol Super swift 10 W 40.
One major modifications i done was changing the seat. At 15 years the foam has lost its tension and was compressing fully. Ordered for seat dunlop and made it done at a seat shop.
And Last but not the least.
During the sixth week when returning at night from work place it was around 9 in night and i was on highway. The headlight started flickering. But thanks to my joy trust on it it continued with light glowing and not causing any problem.
The next day the light failed. The bulb was found defective and changed. But the light was pathetic and also reddish without glowing fully.
The coil was changed and also magnet as the magnet had gone weak at almost 4 lacs km. I light improved but not much.
I knew that the regulator was blown as the flickering would have caused it.
Then also the reflector was also burnt in the top part which was making shadow.
Jot OE headlight was not available. Wanted to go for HS1 as my OE headlight was bosch cap type and the bulb has gone out from market.
But confusion was what to go. The New Dawn has a MFR reflector with HS1 bulb but no parking light.
The splendor pro classic and achiever has the same headlight with parking but it was not available. The light has to be round and no compromise.
Then thanks to Bibhu who suggested over phone to go for thunderbird headlight assembly.
Let me tell you the headlight is so well built that what to say. The headlight is glass with amazing quality reflector. The back is steel with chrome.
Mechanic did some adjustments and fit it without any problem.
One word the beam spread and quality was awesome. No other headlight comes close.
My extreme has excellent headlights but the spread was no match.
But the light was lacking intensity.
After much thinking changed the regulator to OE and also changed the bulb to osram silverstar as i am using same on extreme and light quality and intensity is far better than all other bulbs.
High beam
Low beam
this was with stock osram bulb.
Photos with new regulator and Osram silverstar, i haven't taken.
Will post as soon as i take.
And another think is that xbhp member Honda_cbf had come from jamshedpur to get his stunner engine re-built from my mechanic.
One word, is his bike runs much smoother and better than factory stunners. Even his resonance vibes at 3k and 6k rpm from factory has gone.
Also had some work at native. So did a 350 km round trip to native with mom.
At home in native.
At village pond. Feels refreshing from this city hustle

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Did you checked from where its dripping? It must be dripping from drain nut. Check if the drain nut is there and fully tightened with washer. It is loose i think. Nothing else it can be.Originally posted by kalyan.46 View PostThe engine oil leaks out in my hero honda super splendour..my father bought it in 2006..the engine oil dripps out like water from the hand..when i fill the engine oil, after around an hour, the engine oil chamber gets empty

I'll fix This thunderbird headlight assembly on my TVS XL HD. I was thinking for a Headlight replacement on the TVS moped for an year now.
Thanks a million for this DIY/suggestion.
Any suggestions to upgrade the power on a tiny moped like TVS HD. Pl.
jeswin, Pinaki, Sibun & all,
BTW I'll post the splendor HL mod this week for sure. I'll try tom remove the tip paint this weekend and post the pics then. Sorry for the delay.

Dude.. some gasket shoud have worn out.. I doubt it is the clutch case gasket. Oil drain nut can also be culprit, draining in 1 hr is not a joke and must be fixed. Hold a video camera with light under the engine after pouring few oil. Then you can post that video from youtube.Originally posted by kalyan.46 View PostThis is the bottom surface of the bike..i can't locate the chain nut..where is it located??--------------------------------------------------------------

Oh i shall upload soon..the oil is not leaking from the oil nut..it's leaking from somewhere near the main stand because as you can see the main stand has become black because of the contious leak of the oilOriginally posted by dude_creative View PostDude.. some gasket shoud have worn out..
