why don't you go to another mechanic to adjust your valve clearence with feeler gauge,if these types of mechanic don't have proper tools, better no to go there?how is your normal compression(while kicking)?

I got the tappets adjusted today by feeler gauge to the company specifed clearance.. But now tappets make that irritating sound. Should i reduce the clearance from 0.10 to 0.08 or something like that?Compression seems ok.

Nice looking bike. This is the pre y2k bike as from the engine and exhaust.

Between looks better than my Joy as the spokes and all are glowing.

My spokes, chain cover, engine and all are stained with use.

Over all a nice maintained bike.

All these idiot mechanics say that its the same engine as Splendor, so its ok to not use feeler gauge. but I checked that Splendor has 0.05mm clearance on both valves, whereas Passion Pro has 0.10 mm clearance on both inlet & exhaust valves. @sibun , i remember that you told someone in the Extreme thread that a little less clearance than what is specified in the manual is needed to balance the play that the rockers would have as they get old. So how much clearance should my bike have considering its age? And is it ok to adjust tappets by guesswork as the mechanics do, or should i insist on using the feeler gauge? Please help...
Why did you change the bore kit so early at 35k kms.

Moreover Usha bore kit comes for splendor and cd 100. It doesn't come for passion pro. Passion pro has different piston and rings than splendor/passion.

Also why did you use 0.25 size ring with a new bore kit. It will scrap the bore like boring machine.

As for the tappets set it at 0.08 mm for both. If it is ringing that means the rocker arms need change.

After setting tappets re-adjust the air fuel settings, you bike will feel free to pull.

After 1000 kms of engine re-built every bike needs re-tuning and setting of tappets.

Do it and let me know.

The second part of the journey towards home. I have to ride from Dindigul to Nagercoil. Started around 8.30 a.m and started riding towards Thirumangalam (near Madurai). Total distance that should be ridden on that day was 320 km. For the first 20 km, the road was a state highway with big tamarind trees on both sides. The ride was very much comfortable till that. The remaining 300 km was the NH 7, and once I hit the NH, I was struck with even more heavier headwinds and crosswinds. I was not able to cross 50 kmph that too with half throttle!! When I was riding near a place called Kovilpatti, 3 bikers in a Z800, hyosong GT650r, duke 200 zoomed ahead of me and vanished in no time. At that time I felt like a tortoise. At around 5 p.m, I entered Nagercoil with 15 kms left and was welcomed with heavy downpour. Glad that I did not face any rains for the first 300 kms. Some pics to follow..

This thread is again dead, come on owners take active part. Here we have a splendor pro classic owner but no posts of him till now. Come share here.
jeswin- Very nice trip. Have been to Nagercoil so can relate to your photos. Roads are super in between and not like here where on highways there are potholes.
rv555- I never polish the chrome parts. They are like that. I take care to keep them clean always and wipe it daily with soft clean cloth.

                But a very sad update.

On this sunday i was returning from marketing with mom and had gone to the petrol pump where i always fill petrol. Had parked the bike on side stand and gone to swipe my credit card. There were shopping bags on the rear of bike. Mom put hand on rear of bike and due to weight imbalance the front lifted and bike fell to the left side.

Damages were a broken indicator glass, handle T bent and pulling towards left and the left headlight stay bent and headlight falling towards left.

Since happened on sunday night, and on monday came to my workplace so couldn't repair it. This weekend will repair it. Had talked with mechanic.

Indicator glass, a matter of Rs.30. No big deal.
Handle T will be done in Lathe, nothing much to worry.

The biggest tension is the headlight stay. Last time i had found it after searching for 2 Years. This time i am sure will not be available. Have to do something in lathe by attaching jigs and fixtures to pull and straighten it.

Really sad for the past one week and feeling tensed till bike is not back to glory.

Sad to know about the incident. If i remember something, when I was checking the hero website a few months back, there was Joy in some suggestion options. I checked it now, but it was nowhere to be seen after refreshing their website.

Thats why I told you, ride down south and we shall have a non-potholed ride

Thanks to sibun sir's accurate diagnosis.. And his precise solutions.. The bike is running great. The issues with the bike are gone completely.. Like they were not even there. Thank you sir.. U just listened to my bike's sound and rectified the problems.. Or else the mechanics would have messed some other thing while trying to find the solutions for problems.

                            Hi All,

After running for 1lakh without any major changes made for my bike (splendor 2002) I think it's time for major repair needs to be done (still not sure). Reasons is I could hear lose part sounds from my engine, oil leak near start rod, reduction in oil and mileage of around 55 (though I used to get 65 for sure earlier).

Since I'm not expert please suggest. Do I need to go for redo the engine (rebour)?

If yes, where to get it done in Bangalore (best place)? Or could I do on my own (never opened the engine and also basically i'm Electronics back ground).

If yes, I could do? then which all parts too look for?
