Surprisingly even the clutch center nut had regular threads, on my Puslar only the centrifugal filter has regular threads, the clutch center nut is reverse thread.

You need different special tools to remove both nuts, the center one can be removed with the Puslar type but the centrifugal filter if of a different size, we removed it using a rift and a hammer, Indian style.

And you really need the clutch holder to remove the center nut, jugads simply failed.

Friction plates from Bosch costs 100ish and OEM ones cost 300ish, we went for OEM ones.

To be completely honest, Bosch plates kept slipping when I first attempted to put them and ride on the Splendor when it was changed at 62K. Switched to OEM packed ones. Not the best around but they get the job done. Also, Makino ones the best from what I have heard.

Makino used in Splendor really works optimally as per its reputation.

Yes, true. I wish at times that I should have done it sooner than later.

Surprise, surprise. Hero has gone ahead and done it. The 1980's 100cc Honda supercub engine has been upgraded to BS6. Fuel injection with 10 sensors. Negligible powerdrop of some 0.3 ps. Hero motocorp is one unpredictable company. So both the legendary Splendor & India's national 100cc engine is here to stay.

And the Uncles will continue to buy it. Looks like there's no real death for this wonderful engine.

Kick Starter slips in cold mornings. Is it indicating at a change of starting gear of Splendor ?

Or should a change of clutch & pressure plates should do the needful.

Friends, need a help. Last night as I was riding on my CD Deluxe, rode through a patch of rough road (nothing big just small undulations) and the headlights went out.

So I stopped, turned off the light and on again, now it came up but with very feeble light. So I turn off the bike and realized that it’s just not the headlights that all battery connected accessories were either not working or working anemically - self start button, horn, turn lights, headlights, tail light, console light, fuel meter everything

I suspect that due to the rough road, the battery wire got loose or something? I believe the battery is still good as it was perfectly fine without issues until last night. Any other issues it could be?

Check the connections. Also, how old is your battery? On an average a regularly used bike with a battery lasts some 2 to 3 years. Headlight should work without battery since it's powered by the magnet/alternator. Unless you have a DC CDI the luminosity of headlight shouldn't be affected. What model Deluxe do you have?

It’s a 2010 CD Deluxe. I don’t know when battery was changed last but the bike was starting with self start in just single press even last morning. Didn’t show any indicator of typical battery weakening. I will pull out the multimeter and test the volts tomorrow to confirm.

The luminosity has reduced on headlights and self start not working. Had to kick start today as well. Horn is inaudible or feeble too. Could be an alternator issue?

                            • Splendor carburettor problem

I own a splendor 99 model. It is sparingly used. Run only 30,000km, but maintained regularly. Of late it has developed problems in the carburettor - 1) petrol overflow problem not solved even after cleaning carburettor, changing float and pin. 2) the fuel is running rich inspite of proper tuning. Even after full anti-clockwise turns of idle screw the engine does not stall. There is petrol smell in engine oil also. Top speed does not go above 70. There is no smoking even on high rpm.

Because of all these, my mechanic has advised to change the carburettor. Is this the correct solution? Is a compatible carburettor available for 99 model splendor and from where I can buy it? Is hero carburettor available now good?

I have a splendor ismart 2017 model, the engine makes noise from starting only(timing chain). My local mechanic told me it's the inherent problem of the engine
Now I plan to sell it so I asked the mechanic the price he says 15-16k . That's really low for 2.5 year old model. He says the engine makes too much noise and needs work, I asked him the cost he said 8-10k.
Now I am in 2 minds what to do with the bike to sell it or keep for 3 more years and sell it as scrap.
Or should I take a second opinion from different mechanic.
I will try to upload the video of the engine noise by evening.
