Wont improve charging, would just ensure your electricals work well in the event that the battery is underperforming.Originally posted by dumb0 View Post

Last sunday ( 21-07-19 ) me and my brother went from Medavakkam chennai to Tada falls on our two bikes, Hero Splendor Plus i3S and TVS StarCity Plus. We started at 4:00AM in morning, reached Tada around 7:00AM. exact distance from our home to Tada is 119KMS..so totally around 240KMS done on that day.
. Bike performed very well...I maintained speed of 60-70kmph on the Chennai-Tada section. Traffic was moderate, Weather was also moderately hot.
Started at 04:00AM in the morning....
Reached Tata Waterfalls Entrance at 07:00AM.....

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
My passion pro completed 1 lac km 2 weeks ago. An year ago I had given it to the ASC for changing the front fork oil and oil seal. After the work the oil leak from the forks completely stopped but the suspension had become unusually stiff. For a whole year I rode it as it is as there was no leak but ultimately got fed up due to the stiffness. Then I decided to do it my self rather than giving it to the ASC.
I watched a video of a youtuber called 'Miktecrep' for reference. He is a proffessional, a hero honda specialist and his videos are very detailed. In the video, he had mentioned to be careful about the direction of the springs as it can seriously affect stiffness. In the last pic the side of the spring marked with the red arrow should go inside the tube and the side with the green mark should be at the top. To my surprise the springs were placed exactly the opposite way when I opened the fork. It was the reason behind the high stiffness of my front suspension. It also says that the ASC mechanics are not well trained by the parent company.
I only changed the oil as the seal was good. I used TVS suspension fluid which cost only rs 100 and poured 155ml in each fork. Never thought that it would be such an easy DIY job. The ASC charges rs 800 for the same!

Interestingly, the grade of oil is not mentioned on the bottle. It's written that it's synthetic and can be used for both front and rear suspension. The oil appears to be really thin. I think it's a 10w or 5w maybe.Originally posted by Krishna3450 View PostWhat grade is tvs suspension oil, 10w or 20w?

Make: StanleyOriginally posted by yieldway17 View PostI know it’s not directly related but can someone suggest a good socket wrench set (preferably with a 3/8 drive) to do most of the work on these motorcycles?
Good quality and cost effective.
Consider purchase from Amzn / Flpkrt.
I got the 1/2" drive socket set last year.
JCB / Yato / Taparia are other options.

Thanks! What’s your thoughts on people advising to go with 1/4” or 3/8” drives for motorcycle repair and 1/2” rather for car repair? I almost bought the Stanley 1/2” kit but got doubts because of what I read.Originally posted by rk1685 View PostMake: Stanley

1/2 is the way to go.Originally posted by yieldway17 View PostThanks! What’s your thoughts on people advising to go with 1/4” or 3/8” drives for motorcycle repair and 1/2” rather for car repair? I almost bought the Stanley 1/2” kit but got doubts because of what I read.
Universal so accessories can easily be purchased, strong enough for whatever a motorcycle can throw at it.
Just make sure you get 6 point sockets instead of the 12 point ones which are commonly available as the latter tends to round off stubborn bolt heads.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
So yesterday while riding along with my friend who was on his 2015 Splendor and myself on my CT100B, the Splendor's gearbox suddenly started acting up, seeing how he came to a halt I presumed the clutch had given up, but on riding the motorcycle I was able to diagnose the issue to being associated with the shift drum, as I was able to slot into 1st but nothing after that.
The motorcycle has been handed over to a trusty mechanic and for the time being we're hoping its the gear shift cam, as its easier to change in comparison.
The motorcycle had recently clocked 60k km's.
Anyhow will update the specifics in the evening.

Most probably gear shifter spring and nothing else. The spring looses tension sometimes.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostSo yesterday while riding along with my friend who was on his 2015 Splendor and myself on my CT100B, the Splendor's gearbox suddenly started acting up, seeing how he came to a halt I presumed the clutch had given up, but on riding the motorcycle I was able to diagnose the issue to being associated with the shift drum, as I was able to slot into 1st but nothing after that.

Must be the spring. My bike (2015 Splendor Pro) recently clocked 56k and I had to change the spring as the shifts were losing their smoothness. Hope you get yours fixed.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostSo yesterday while riding along with my friend who was on his 2015 Splendor and myself on my CT100B, the Splendor's gearbox suddenly started acting up, seeing how he came to a halt I presumed the clutch had given up, but on riding the motorcycle I was able to diagnose the issue to being associated with the shift drum, as I was able to slot into 1st but nothing after that.

Spring was fine, though the shift drum stopper wasn't, my friend has a habit of inflicting the wrath of Ares on the shifter and as expected something finally gave out.Originally posted by sibun View PostMost probably gear shifter spring and nothing else. The spring looses tension sometimes.

A new one costs only 65/- guess its not that bad an idea to change the shift plate, spring and drum stopper and spring when changing the clutch.
Though you spend a couple of hundreds more at least you wont have to go through a lot of grief when one of the above parts give up unexpectedly.Motorcycling Experience:
