Peanuts costs more than a pair, get them from any reputed hardware store.

Has anyone got their Cat Exhaust cleaned on the bike? Mine's choked with carbon and as a result both acceleration and torque is being affected.

No clue about that.

Maybe sibun would be able to help.

Hi all,

I have changed the old Excitor Coil (327 ohms) inside magnet with a new Swiss make (401 ohms), today.

This resulted in better spark and performance in my Splendor.

Tomorrow I plan to retune it.

I presume this should result in better performance & fuel efficiency.

IMO there is no need to clean it. My passion pro has done 103000 km and still no problem with the exhaust or pickup. If the tuning is lean enough, carbon buildup in the exhaust will be minimal.

Bismaya bro, in an older post you had mentioned about nervousness/imbalance feeling of your splendor pro during slow speed riding or riding with a pillion. Do you still face it? I thought that it was a problem only on my bike till I read your older post.

Give me a good reason why I should kept my sitting lean instead of the proper setting. It'll just make your engine life lesser. Mine is a cat exhaust and has blockage near the glasswool, thanks to the world class refined petrol here. There was some carbon on my iridium plug, even with proper AFR setting (Bosch). My bike does 75-80 km/hr easily compared to what it did on the old plug. The iridium has improved combustion for sure. My highway FE is around 72kmpl. I get as low as 62kmpl in city and 52ish on poor fuel (adulterated). Have started filling the tank to the brim (not literally) at good fueling outlets.

A few things were back then:

1. Damaged Handlebar cone-set, changed.
2. Worn out Front Tyre
3. Busted Sprockets
4. Ceat Mileaze as Rear Tyre
5. Worn rubbers and conesets on the wheels

The tyres from Ceat (except for the Secura & Zoom Moniker) are hard compound so that they last more. These lack quality most of the time and their casting is really bad, as a result they are wobbly on tarmac and make you lose balance on the rear. Currently, I have changed to the following:

a. Apollo Actizip F2 Front
b. Ralco Blaster Rear

Both of these tyres are medium compound ones and give excellent grip on both tarmac and sandy surfaces. I initially wanted to get MRF Nylogrips for both ends, but the tyres were out of my budget. Swapped both tyres at the same time and with a new fronty brake shoe, lockset and throttle cable as well. My bike has some 70k+ but the worn out meter was stuck on 36k for ages until I repaired it. All major work has been done in the last 10k kms and a block change seems imminent in the next 10k kms. It's losing compression and the area around piston has become ovalled. A correct fitting sized ring should solve the purpose hopefully. The block itself isn't damaged.

1. Handle grips and bracket
2. Battery
3. Headlight and reflector (Osram Silverstar)
4. HT Coil

By ' lean enough' I intended proper tuning- not very lean or rich. My bike also has a cat-con. If you are getting around 65 kpl avrg then exhaust should be just fine. My bike gives 60 in city and 70 on the highway. All pro models are short geared. 65 is the max avrg you can expect. The HF deluxe gives a bit more as its significantly lighter.

If you are sensing compression loss and if there is oil film on the spark plug thread then just change the piston rings and valve seals. There is no need of changing the bore unless the bike gives out heavy smoke.

My bike had the same nervousness problem as yours. Its like you get a feeling to put your feet down while moving very slow. It felt like the center of gravity was off. I've also replaced cone set, tyres etc. Now it's running on mrf zapper at the front and motoD at the rear. The issue is almost solved. But with a pillion in city traffic, it still feels weird, as if I have to put some effort to balance it. I assume that it's an inherent problem with the self start models of HH. There is no such problem with older splendors and passion plus.

Swap that Moto D with a Zapper C or a Zapper Y and see if the issue is solved. If you're going to ride in city, you need a tyre with higher ground contact and undirectional treads instead of knobby ones.

Older models had shorter stance, hence lower centre of gravity which made the bike more stable, even with the 18 inch tyres. Ride a CD 100SS or a RX135, you'll see what I mean.

Thanks bismaya for the suggestion. The roads in kerala are more like medium off road tracks. And the climate is very unpredictable. We get fog, rain and extreme heat almost everyday. I had some nasty heart in mouth moments with earlier mrf nylogrip. Hence opted for the MotoD. The MotoD is surprisingly grippy in light to medium off road conditions. But I guess with the zapper in front, this combination is not very helpful in stability. Also I will reshape the seat to lower the seat height to see if there is any difference.

By the way, I was really surprised to see the weight reduction in the latest passion pro i3s. The new model just weighs 108kg! My model tips in at 120kg. A fibre fuel tank, plastic chain cover, SAI delete & utility box delete has resulted in a massive 12kg loss. Atleast now hero is taking weight reduction seriously.

My bike weighs the 120kg as well. I weighed it on one of those ramps at express bike works. It quoted a figure iof 120.2kgs. The new models are lighter and balanced atleast. I'm not a fan of the i3s technology but the the Splendor Plus weights around 109kg (current iteration) and a full tank makes it 111kgs. HF Deluxe is around the same. The Passion xPro & iSmart FI seems like their most weighed siblings in 110cc segment at 115kgs.

I was surprised to see that iSmart BS6 has a disc as standard, which is a welcome addition. Hopefully it'll be the same on future 110cc models as well. Part of me is most likely sure that the 97cc mill won't be BS6 compliant and nearing it's end of life. Yet to see.

Talking about SAI, my bike doesn't have it (even though all Pro bikes older & newer than mine do). It's one less hassle to deal with.

Hero is the only auto maker which successfully made their light bikes crazy heavier ( may be due to lack of R&D at the time of separation). Initial dig-meter passion pro was 121kg, the glamour was 129kg. In contrast the competition was striving to reduce weight. A yamaha saluto 110 weighs just 100 kg! Now their R&D growth is reflected in the new bikes.

The Bs6 splendor ismart is kind of a revolution. Its a totally new bike. New engine & frame. Only the looks are shared with the old one. First bike under 125cc to get fuel injection. It gives 86 kpl as per a mileage test video on YouTube. The bike tested is brand new. It's able to give such good FE even before first service! Hero has given some serious goals for honda and bajaj.

The SAI system is absent on all Bs4 bikes. I didn't see it on any of the new bikes. Its good as SAI sucks a bit of engine power. And one less thing to worry about. Hero wanted to get rid of the 100cc honda engine by 2018. But most customers still look if the engine is horizontal or not! That's how trusty the cub engine is in people's mind. Still most people just want a normal 100cc splendor. The sales advisors mostly have a tough time in convincing them to buy the newer ones. This engine still accounts for more than 70% of their sales. Only time will tell if they will upgrade it to Bs6 or not.

Arey Baba, Yamaha actually knows how to make good bikes. Hero doesn't. My friend's 2009 FZ-S lasted 1.06L KMS on ODO before he sold it. Only the clutch plates were changed twice and steel plates once.

There's nothing new about it. Other manufacturers have been giving that frame since long. Yes, they did some work on the engine but it was necessary evil.

SAI is basically a way of cheating in Pollution Tests. Not sure which bike you saw, but almost all BS4 Engines I've seen have SAI, even the 110cc motors.

Cant argue on that. I am yet to see a yamaha with quality issues. Only manufacturer from which we can buy the first bike from the first batch without any worries.

The bs6 splendor ismart will hopefully prompt bajaj and honda to bring FI tech in their 110 cc's. A platina FI with 120 kpl may be.

SAI is ABSENT ON ALL LATEST 100 cc hero bikes. Next time you see a latest splendor or passion take a closer look. It is still present on their 110cc and 125cc bikes. Not only hero but every other company is using SAI in their BS4 models. You can find it in the latest pulsar 220 too.

An engine which is tuned for such mileage figure won't have good longevity.
