Order Hero Genuine Spare Parts online now
We can now order genuine parts online from Hero . Although the web-portal is just started and still not perfect , very happy that finally Hero has come to know about the internet
here is the link - https://www.hgpmart.com/
Nice project bike . My experience is that if someone just put away a useful bike for years like this , it had developed some problem that could not be solved at that time . Take off the seat & tank and start cleaning up & checking everything . Remove the battery if it has one , surely it has to be replaced . The parts manual has detailed diagrams , but make sure you get the correct parts-manual by the model & manufacturing year. Ask here if you get stuck anywhere , I learned a lot here . Best wishes .Originally posted by sreejesh613 View PostHello fellow enthusiasts, recently a friend gifted me a 15 year old Splendor. I am planning to restore it to its former glory. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
@sibun sir, I changed the valves and bore-piston kit of my 2010 passion pro at 90k km on the odo. Everything was just fine untill I changed my enigine oil to castrol power1 15w40 semi synthetic. The oil was literally like water, the bike became really fast revving but it had a very negative effect on the engine. It had started consuming a lot of engine oil hence the bore change was done. I switched over to Castrol Activ 20w40 mineral after the bore job and I've decided not to use any semi-synthetic/full synthetic oil ever in my bike . It has covered almost 5000km since the bore change and the obsrevations are as follows-
1. compression has drastically increased. bike is pulling up steep inclines in top gear itself even at 30 kmph without the slightest hint of lugging.
2. I am getting good average mileage of 65 kmpl.
3. Really smooth upto 50kmph but the bike DOES NOT GO ABOVE 55 KMPH .
4.Whenever I try to go beyond 55 kmph the bike makes a weird sound and just does not pull.
The carb tunig is perfect, no oil on the spark plug threads. All the works were done at HERO SVC near my house. The work was really unsatisfactory as i encountered many problems during the initial 500 km of riding itself.
PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED DURING INITIAL 500 KM AFTER BORE KIT REPLACEMENT
1. Bike was just not pulling and felt really harsh.
2. Valve tappet clearance was not set properly and it was making lot of tappet noise. Had to fight with the SVC guys to get it done.
4. Very poor mileage. Opened the carb and found a lot of dirt in the float and the jets were blocked. Cleaned and tuned myself and the mileage returned to 65kmpl.
The bike was giving 60 kmpl before i gave it to the SVC. Somehow the SVC guys screwed up my carburettor
.
5. Even after carb cleaning the bike was severely missing above 40kmph. It felt like there was no fuel. The harshness became intolerable. I checked the tank and fuel line but no rust/block was found.
The SVC guys had no clue as what to do. They literally ruined my bike. Finally i gave up on the HERO svc and started diagnosing myself. I found the culprit to be a leaking HT wire. The HT cord was new but somehow it was leaking current. Insulated it with some M-seal at the ignition coil end and to my surprise, the bike is back to 80% normal. Pick up, smoothness and mileage all increased. But everything is ok just untill 50 kmph. It just refuses to pull above this speed. But still there is a missing sensation above 55 kmph. Today morning i got ' JHATKA'
from the HT cord while checking it for any leaks. Now I seriously suspect the ignition coil to be faulty as the HT cord is SWISS make and is just 2 months old. I really need your help sir as i am confused whether to change the ignition coil or to change the entire wiring harness. I just want to bring back my bike to its former glory.
LESSON LEARNT- NEVER GIVE YOUR PRECIOUS BIKE TO THE SVC FOR IMPORTANT ENGINE RELATED WORKS. 95 % CHANCE IS THAT THEY WILL RUIN EVERYTHING & STICK TO MINERAL OIL AS THESE HONDA CUB DERIVED ENGINES JUST DON'T LIKE ARTIFICIAL OILS.Last edited by MotoMan; 03-05-2019, 11:36 PM.

Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Need a help. I got access to a very sparsely ridden 2011 CD Deluxe which had been sitting idle for the last few months. I cleaned it up, inflated the tyres and after some struggle powered it up. I rode it for couple of km and it rides fine.
It has been ridden only for max 25km in the last year.
I'm planning to change the oil, turn signals (which are not working) etc. Tyres seem to be okay and doesn't need immediate attention.
I'm planning to use it as my backup daily driver. What are the things I should check to make sure it's good before using it?

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Use a nice grade oil. I would suggest using a good 10w40 grade mineral, if not 20w40. There are some good options like Motul, Valvoline and Veedol to choose from. Get all the electricals checked. Check the frame for any rusts and clean them if you want. Give me the bike a proper wash even. Clean the air filter (if it's a sponge one) or replace if it's a paper one & too dirty. Also, get the spark plug condition checked. Post a picture of it. I would recommend starting over with a new plug since it had been idle. I change my plug at every 10k distance. Lube the chain nicely as well. Get it tightened and lastly, a carb clean would be nice. It would ensure that your bike goes on smoothly. If you are planning on using it in the long run, do a head cleanup at 30k KMS on the ODO.Originally posted by yieldway17 View PostNeed a help. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Hello everyone.. Kindly advise me as I have to change the chain sprocket kit of my 2010 Passion Pro. Its original chain set lasted only about 15,000 Kms. Even with proper care, that chain set needed adjustment every 150 kms.
So I changed it to the Super Splendor chain set from DID. This chain set performed really well, it didnt need so frequent adjustments, & it didnt make much noise. I think it is an O ring chain set.
Now the bike is nearing 1 lac Kms. Few months back i got a link removed from the chain & it has behaved well till now. But now the mechanic has suggested to change the chain set as the sprocket teeth are becoming sharp-ish (thinner).
The original chain set was 14T by 44T (i think), The super splendor DID chain set was 14T by 42T (I think) , so it would have over geared my bike, but i was happy with its performance as the bike was behaving good. Now the Glamour chain set is 14T by 43T (again I think).
So which chain set should i go for as i want an O ring chain set = Super splendor or Glamour ? also which company = Rolon or DID or any other ? Although DID is very hard to find these days & mechanics are saying that it doesnt have the excellent quality of the olden days now.
Or if you guys have any other chain set that fills my requirements, please say. sibun sir, Pinaki da , your valuable guidance on this matter.
Thanks.

You can use passion plus 14/44 or glamour 14/43 its thicker than passion pro. If you cant find DID you can use Diamound/Rollen/IFB Brands . All are good brands .All are oe suppliers .Originally posted by EnigmAnurag View PostHello everyone.. Kindly advise me as I have to change the chain sprocket kit of my 2010 Passion Pro. Use rolon solid bush chain. It is coming with thicker bush and will last longer. Your OE fitment is 14/44. You use the same or go for splendor y2k which is 14/43.
14/42 will cause loss of mileage in city riding condition.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. sibun,
How to check the ignition coil , plug cap & wire (it produces yellowish feeble spark and sometimes misses as well) to check whether they are working okay, as the spark plug gets blackened easily and the machine performance is not optimum (best tuning has been arrived at using your method).Last edited by dumb0; 04-22-2019, 04:27 AM.
