Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Friends, Tyre shop wala told me to over inflate tyres to prevent it from slipping of the rim while encountering bumbs & gutters. he inflated my tyres to 8 psi more than recommended. my dbt is whether manufacturer wont take this into consideration while recommending inflation pressures?. do we really need to over inflate?

Absolutely not needed.Originally posted by harish_gkumar View PostFriends, Tyre shop wala told me to over inflate tyres to prevent it from slipping of the rim while encountering bumbs & gutters. he inflated my tyres to 8 psi more than recommended. my dbt is whether manufacturer wont take this into consideration while recommending inflation pressures?. do we really need to over inflate?
Over inflated tire results in bumpy ride and affects handling.

You will get it any hardware shop which are located near automotive shop . Cycle shops generally keep it. You can fill old fork oil bottle and use till u get that oil can.Originally posted by jeswin View PostI need this oil can in order to lubricate the drive chain, foot pegs, brake nut etc. I hunted for this can in almost every bike spare parts shop and tools shop, but i was not able to find one. There is a better alternative.Originally posted by jeswin View PostI need this oil can in order to lubricate the drive chain, foot pegs, brake nut etc. I hunted for this can in almost every bike spare parts shop and tools shop, but i was not able to find one. Get an empty sewing machine oil can (Rs.8/-). It is better than this pump oil-can (Rs.60/-) because the oil is pumped in spurts.
Or an empty fork oil bottle as Rohit suggested.

EDIT :
Where is Pinaki ji ? How are you ?Last edited by shoeb2015; 07-17-2014, 12:08 AM.

May I suggest a syringe?!
I have a big fat one I use without the needle to oil chains etc with needle and it can get into key holes and other nooks - crannies... also... fill it with grease and you can inject grease inside bearings without oil.

This type of oil dispenser is easily available on hardware stores just ask for Prima(rmpl) brand, the cost will be around 80/- rs.

Thank you all for your valuable replies. Shoeb ji, you have all the tools with you, right?. Now only i have started collecting the tools. I know 'sewing machine oil can', but do not know the fork oil bottle. Can you please tell which is the fork oil bottle from the above picture?
I bought a #16 17 spanner last week. Then i bought a black colour spray paint. I am trying to collect as much as possible slowly.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Was thinking of posting in this thread for sometime but was forgetting to post as was busy in replying in other threads. So my Joy has completed 2500 km after engine re-build, last saturday. The mileage is hovering at around 80+- 2 kpl in city and bike feels smooth like new bikes. Last sundat did PUJA of bike as it completed 14 years and is now running at 15th year from 8th july. Since the engine has gone a lot free decided to check the performance and what better way to test performance than roll on test.
Scene 1:- I am on my Joy and my friend is on my extreme. We both are parallel at 40 kph. He pulled the throttle in fifth gear and i also pulled the throttle in 4th gear on my Joy. Although both pulled but still the extreme was parallel to me. We continued this till 70 kph and both were parrallel. Although after 80 kph the extreme would have pulled away rapidly but this test underlines the performance of my JOY as in midrange it still can keep up with my Extreme which is praise worthy for a 100 cc 14 year old bike.
Scene 2:- Was standing at red light and the next 1.5 km after red light is smooth tarmac with nil traffic. Decided to pull to see the acceleration till the divider after the red light which is some 500 meters away. So when the light turned green i gently pulled in first gear and then in second gear( i never rip any bike in 1st and 2nd gear). Two chicks on an activa pulled away as they had initial pick-up advantage, from third gear i started pulling. In third gear went till 55 kph and then shifted to 4 th gear. By 70 kph crossed that activa and pulled away rapidly. By the 500 m divider bike touched 85 kph with throttle still more than 1/4 th left and bike still silent and smooth. I wondered this bike is more smooth and silent than my extreme at 85 kph.
Scene 3:- Last sunday was returning from market and a new CD deluxe(most probably 8-9 months old) was going in front of me. Blowed horn and started to overtake it. I was at 45 kph, he looked at me and saw my bike. He must have noticed the number plate and thought this old bike overtaking me. I think his EGO got hurted and so he began to pull. I usually am calm and give way to everyone, but when someone overtakes me when i am trying to overtake then i get pissed. Since the road was empty gave the beans. I know that a CD deluxe has 44T rear sprocket and also more LET, but i know my engine revs quicker due to no catcon and after 50 kph in top gear bike will pull hard. So after i crossed 50 kph i just pulled away from him. And after 70 kph he just didn't try more.
So you see why i love this bike more with each passing day.
1. trust and attachment which none can match.
2. Mileage, still the new edge commuter bikes with so much technology and all cannot match. Remember the maruti ad:- " PAPA KI KAREIN, PETROL KHATAM HI NAHI HONDA". Fits this bike perfectly.
3. Performance even after 14+ years and 3.8 lacs km under belt, gives a run to new bikes.
4. Pure mechanical and no electronics in it. Ever so reliable.
5. Maintenance- Nil. Fill it, shut it, forget it.My extreme i think asks more maintenance than Joy.
6. love- This cannot be matched as the feelings cannot be said in words.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
^^^ You and your bike is really Gem combination, Great to hear about this 4 Lakh KM in a 100cc bike is wonder itself, wish I have this kind of knowledge about my HH Passion.
But as I read the Pollution rule will be going up and become very strict as new Central Government implement it for 'Ache Din Aa Gaye' , I worried how many days my bike left when it become Street Illegal.

Here in this thread many experts out there I like to ask , Is it possible to repair a Foot Pump's Nozzle Assembly ?
I mean the portion which attach to the Air Nozzle...Everything is in good condition except tightness of the nozzle (Inner Wall) goes down.Last edited by Neel08; 07-19-2014, 12:10 PM.
