today i checked the spark plug cleaned and adjusted the gap using a flat head screw driver,,now the prblm solved thanks pinaki jeeOriginally posted by Pinaki View PostSounds like electrical gremlin . Does it have any relation to the bike getting wet ? Or it occurs also on dry sunny days ? Check your bike's spark plug cap and spark plug itself .

Glad that you resolved the issue. But a flat head screw driver has more thickness than the recommended plug gap, isn't it? Please check again. If the gap is incorrect, the ignition coil might have trouble additional voltage to generate spark which will have a direct impact on performance.Originally posted by harish_gkumar View Posttoday i checked the spark plug cleaned and adjusted the gap using a flat head screw driver,,now the prblm solved thanks pinaki jee
To me, RPM going down and bike turning off is not directly relational. RPM fluctuating is most commonly due to low battery and bike turning off is related to many reasons. I guess removing the spark plugs and cleaning should have removed water drops left inside the plug cap as well. Change the plug caps if necessary. Maybe you adjusted the gap unnecessarily. My DIY(s) - Sprocket bearing change | Paint job | Custom speedo dial
Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

I will check and if it is incorrect will replace with a new one. I have seen that many local mechanics adjust the plug gap with screw driver.hearing from you i decided to replace with new one.Originally posted by petrolhead_chn View PostGlad that you resolved the issue. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Yes Harish, usually the plug gap does not vary. Even if you decide to adjust it use a hack-saw blade to adjust the gap. A screw driver screws up things as it is hard on electrode and may tend to mess with grounding. And if you decide to replace, replace both the spark plugs and plug caps. Apart from that keep all the electrical contact points within the bike's area like beside air filter box or behind carb to avoid getting in contact with water.Originally posted by harish_gkumar View PostI will check and if it is incorrect will replace with a new one. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
the correct gap for our sparkplug is 0.6mm to 0.7mm . You can set it with any flat blade or wire of that thickness . Bend the electrode gently by tapping very lightly . Plug adjustment tool is available at any big motorcycle/car parts shop .Originally posted by harish_gkumar View PostThanks for the info..i asked for feeler gauge in many shops its not avialble here
New Splendor Pro aniversary edition in my backyard ...
( No , it's not mine
)
It has electric start ... and DC ignition ( i think ? ) .
A bigger & SMF type battery ... 3.5Ah
And a paper element , disposable air filter ...
So now anyone who's too lazy for periodic service of the Splendor/Splendor+/CD/Passion foam air filters , they can retrofit their bikes with the Splendor-Pro's OE airbox and use a disposable (10000kms) air-filter . I think it's a direct fit swap and you get all OE parts too .
This is the proud owner , he is my insurance agent . He brought his new bike to me today on to fit some acessories and get the chain lubed for first time .
Note - sorry , I posted plug gap wrongly as .06-.07mm . Now corrected . Forgive for confusion if any .

No need to get feeler gauge. Use hexo blade its 0.658mm and is appropriate for spark plug gap adjusting.Originally posted by harish_gkumar View PostThanks for the info..i asked for feeler gauge in many shops its not avialble here| SOL 68s | Rynox Tornado Pro | Rynox Advento | Cramster TRG2 | Scoyco MC20 | Hero 5 and SJ6 |

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Yes, it has a DC ignition. I think it was re-mapped/tuned by company in year 2012 as a result the engine feels very smooth and silent even at 60kmph.Originally posted by Pinaki View Post

My Car AC mechanic claims 78kmpl+ on highways.
As of now - only Splendor + has AC CDI . IMO, Splendor looks great with spoke wheels.
On another note-
It has been almost 6,000 kms since I switched to asbestos brake shoes(ANL) and the bite is phenomenal. I cleaned and adjusted them once after 1,000kms, re-adjusted for the second time at 5,000 kms.
Now it puts disc brakes to shame, brake lever gives a solid feedback unlike hydraulic brakes with rubber hose which expand during hard braking and give a rubber band like feeling.
One must not expect any improvement right after switching to asbestos shoes, it takes time to bed-in properly.
Thank you Sibun for suggesting me to try asbestos brake shoes.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Thats a lean mixture for sure. Adjust it man. When u adjust you will notice two points where rpm decreasesOriginally posted by harish_gkumar View PostFriends I forgot to say one thing spark plug electrode was white in color ,
First when you head up to richer side and Second when you move on to a leaner side. You have to keep in between those points. Also you will notice there is no change in rpm in between that area and it will become very difficult for you to decide where to kept (thats a point where most of the users get stuck & confuse). In that case you need to be very focus on the activity of your engine. You will have to feel the vibration and notice the rpm. Somewhere you will notice the rpm is in its higher end but the sound is coming as waves thats not a point keep twisting it and hear the sound, at one point the waves become steadily constant. Thats a point you want your AFR to be.| SOL 68s | Rynox Tornado Pro | Rynox Advento | Cramster TRG2 | Scoyco MC20 | Hero 5 and SJ6 |

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Friends i have not posted anything for a long time in this thread. Some updates from my side:-Remember i have told that one of my colleagues at work had bought a glamor recently. After the first service his glamor was returning a very poor mileage, he used to fill Rs.200 of fuel and his home is 80 km from our office which he goes on saturday. His fuel will be over and he have to fill again for next time. He was quite sad and since it is his first bike he is a noob in bike. So i told him that i will tune the bike and then you see the difference. I re-tuned the carburettor and this saturday he went to his home. He had filled Rs.300 worth of fuel while coming the previous saturday and this time he went and returned and still he has enough fuel to return again. Estimates shows around 70 kpl mileage.Regarding splendor pro then it is super smooth as we have bought one after my fathers splendor+ had got stolen. But the sudden pull that our old bikes had is missing in the splendor pro. Regarding mileage then it will have better mileage as it has DC ignition which helps in burning fuel more properly as current is constant and dense. My Joy also returns 78+ kpl on highways an once i have tested like company with two on board riding at constant 45 kph and it returned 106 kpl. My friend and me both were very surprised. But it returns regularly 75+ kpl even in city condition. So mileage is not about technology or new bike but how well it is maintained and how the engine feels while riding. And regarding the paper filter no need to change the air box as changing only the filter and the metal element will ensure the fitment. Paper element will result in bike breathing better. Yet to open my fathers splendor pro filter and transplanting it in my Joy.After riding my extreme when i ride the joy suddenly the throttle feels more sharp and torque feels high as if switching from petrol to diesel car. While my joy is running excellent there was a slight irritating noise like tappet noise on De-accelerating, but i know my bikes tappets are adjusted in such way that it will be on edge of making sound, i.e slight loose and it will make sound. But it was not tappet noise. What we concluded was that it was the timing chain making sound near the big roller when load was removed. So this friday we will change the timing chain with DID, as previous DID has run for 35k and still a normal man cannot make out the sound. Also chain sprocket is slightly worn after 95k which i will change in the coming month. Will go for DID which have thinner chains and the sprockets are finished like mirror surface. Also will go for splendor(43T) as i have up sized the rear tyre from 2.75 to 3.00 from first change it self. After that i have change rear tyre 6 times and sprocket 5 times but each time i had gone for 3.00 tyre and 42t sprocket. This time i will go for 43t which will make the gearing same as stock with 3.00 tyre. This Friday is ID so i will take leave on Saturday and i will get time for both bikes as i will return home on Thursday night. Extreme will need a tappet adjustment and joy will need a timing chain change. shoeb- I have your order ready but was not getting time to send. This ID i will send your orders. I will send by courier to your address. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
No doubt about the spokes . But here in kolkata all Hero dealers are refusing to take bookings for spoke wheels bike . Even if you force them to take the booking , they doesn't supply - no clear dates even after 2 months . No assurances given either . This friend of mine had actually booked Passion X-Pro spoke-self-drum version . He was forced to take this bike when he could not do without bike any longer . I complained to Hero website about it . No email reply or phone calls from Hero . Instead the dealer called up and chided him why he had complained to hero when they told at the time of booking that spoke wheels were "out of supply" . They asked him to take booking money back . He gave in . Kya kare ? Other wise I was considering the X-Pro too .Originally posted by shoeb2015 View Post.... Ditto about the asbestos brake shoes
. I have switched to ASK ones even when my OE non-asbestos shoes were almost new . Really pleased of the change .
I don't think you can swap just the filters . The receptacle hole on the airbox where the mouth fits seemed to be bigger on the Splendor-Pro . Also there is a plastic bracket like thing build into the airbox to retain the paper-filter assembly . This is not there on the Splendor+ . It's also more difficult to remove and fit than the foam . I have taken it out , but not done a side by side compare . If you can swap just the filter ( even with a bit of modification ) .... another big treat is waiting for youOriginally posted by sibun View Post.... regarding the paper filter no need to change the air box as changing only the filter and the metal element will ensure the fitment. Any O-ring or X-ring type chain that can be fitted on Splendors ? Just curious .Last edited by Pinaki; 08-06-2013, 02:35 AM.
