Ya i know but still coming this far and not meeting, is very bad. Clearly it was a case of mis-communication. I know that you had lots of hope in meeting me. I feel bad in not meeting you. Ya chilika is a beautiful place and no wonder it is huge as it is the largest brackish water lake. Climate is not cool, but when you came then monsoon had arrived as a resut it was raining incessantly.Originally posted by jeswin View Post

Change to OE cables as they are the best. Since you have the biggest distributor in east india, i.e Bansal motors, you can directly procure from them. I do not know why ASC is refusing to sell the spares, as here every SVC sells spares and even when mechanics go then also they seel spares to them.Originally posted by Pinaki View PostPhoto of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Ok , I got clutch & throttle cables and a bunch of small parts today from Bansal . That is an asbestos gasket for clutch-side crankcase cover - rare item nowdays .
Now I know why local shops here are not keeping Hero OE parts - saying that OE parts are maha-expensive . They are selling non-OE ( some ronson ) clutch cable for Rs 110.00 and Saying OE is much more costly !!! Those liars are also saying air-filter element B (outer) is not available seperately .
Buy OE guys - it's cheaper !
Sibun / SHoeb / Dr Watson - part numbers are correct for 2010 Splendor+ ?
Also I finally got a can of cyclo carb-cleaner . Waiting to service the carburetor for 2nd time in 4 years and nearing 20k kms . Good idea to just replace the float-pin valve now ? Or just plain faltu waste of Rs 145.00 ?

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
I'm facing the same problem here in Bangalore too. The only way to procure parts is through the hero parts stockist. Even they do not sell a few intricate parts such as the carb O ring and footrest rubber for my CD100. This has to be escalated via a mail on the heromotocorp site. I had a heated argument with the parts distributor during my last visit and the manager there finally agreed to sell the smaller parts that I needed in loose.Kinetic Honda ZX(2001)

Local manufacturers still make asbestos gasket and sell for Rs.10/-Originally posted by Pinaki View PostThat is an asbestos gasket for clutch-side crankcase cover - rare item nowdays .

Local shops only stock and sell parts which are profitable and fast moving.
That Rs.110/- cable must be Remson. Last time when I bought cables(hero packing), the OE supplier was Suprajit.
The float pin doesn't need replacement that soon. Just make sure the tip doesn't show any signs of wear and the spring loaded thingy on the other side moves freely and doesn't stick.
EDIT :
Get a kick oil seal too(5-10rs.). It can be replaced without removing the clutch cover.Last edited by shoeb2015; 08-10-2014, 03:01 PM.

Glad that you were able to get all those parts you needed. Is your bike running very little? 20,000 km in 4 years is quite low. Isnt it?Originally posted by Pinaki View PostThen your ASC is more co-operative than mine . I have no energy left to argue the very pretty and equally dumb girl who sits at their spares counter . Tried it for two days already - final remedy is to phone the Hero sales manager . But there is no remedy for reluctance and unwilling service . Easier to get it from the distributor - Bansal Motors . The ASC gets theirs from them only .
@All, i need some help, bikers!. I ride my passion pro inbetween 45 to 55 kmph speed. No matter how wide the road is, nor how less the traffic is. Yesterday i went for a spin for about 80 kms. The road was good and straight. I was riding at 50 kmph constantly. It was really boring to ride in that speed. Suddenly a very badly abused and poorly maintained splendor just zoomed ahead me by overtaking. That splendor would have gone definitely above 75 kmph. So, something struck in my mind. If this splendor can do such high speeds, why cant my passion do atleast 60 kmph?. I slightly twisted the throttle. At first, the bike was reluctant to go beyond 52 kmph, but after a few seconds, the speed started to increase. Till 55 kmph it is ok. Super smooth, nil vibrations. When the bike crossed the 55 kmph mark, there were slight vibrations near the tank, which i could feel in my thighs. When it reached 60, the handbar started vibrating badly. Those vibrations were like waves passing from right side to the left.
I think the reason for these vibrations is me alone!, by not habituating the bike to various speeds.
How can i cruise smoothly inbetween 60 to 65 kmph? Is that possible in my case?

Hii bro me too have passion pro and it can go to 80 kmph smoothly without vibrations. But after that it takes time to accelerate and vibrates little. But not as you mentioned above.

Yups . Fact is that despite being an old old city with terribly low road surface ratio , Kolkata has too many commute options ...Originally posted by jeswin View Post... Is your bike running very little? 20,000 km in 4 years is quite low. Isnt it?
...
The adventurous can try the bus ...

or these , if no hurry to reach office
even no office ? then ...

or

or ,

And we have the best taxicabs in the world ( BBC topgear says that ) ...

or you can just walk

Traffic is usually very good

Unless , someone decides to voice something democratically

not that bikers don't have anything to say too ..

so nowadays while travelling daily in the city for my work , I just cut thru the crap and get on ...

comfy stations ...

and these don't stop for anything !

So bike riding is only for pleasure and small errands nowadays
, but I still loooove my bike

Check the airfilter and snorkel to airbox , if any of both is blocked then acceleration and top end suffers by a lot . It is specifically mentioned in manual to drive vehicle in variation so that engine works up all rpm zones during run in , sticking to constant speed is not good for cylinder it causes something i read about cant recall itOriginally posted by jeswin View PostGlad that you were able to get all those parts you needed. Typically one should stick to 80% of top end for cruising , splendor has top end of suppose 95kmph then .8X95=76kmph
So yes its very much possible to cruise around 60-65kmph . I drove 60km on constant 70kmph from Rajnandgaon to Raipur , That time splendor wasnt cared for much but still touched 85kmph somehow. Sibun has done full throttle for 30-35 mins and his joy showed no signs of fatigue , These so called puny engines are so reliable one cant mess it bad enough . Timely oil change and it will keep on going forever ,not perfectly but still it will run
PS : New tyre Ceat Gripp 3-18 proved to be real good in rains , no skid and can take hell of abuse from bad roads . This tyre has loads of grip and front has Ceat F85 which is also very nice . Pinaki ji , Almost every svc spare counters create such headaches , i went to get carb insulator for Xtreme and they handed over splendor's saying it would work
I avoid svc to buy spares instead i found a local Hero warehouse from where svc gets their spares , Since they do OTC sales , no more hassles . They even have catalogs and little spares that are hard to find , sadly no service manual.

loved it. Im from kolkata aswell.
Also, anyone wanting better cruizing get a smaller rear sprocket. Will help bike cruize better with relaxed engine rpms...(tall gearing effect) but you will face reduced acceleration. also maybe its just me but I feel newer splendours and passions etc have shorter gearing than older gen hero 97gem bikes.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Will check the airfilter and report tomorrow. Pick up is good. The bike gains speed quickly. The problem is "vibrations". Since you have got experience, please do suggest a riding style such that the bike does not vibrate above 55 kmph and also to cruise at higher speeds with no troubles.Originally posted by RohIIT View PostCheck the airfilter and snorkel to airbox , if any of both is blocked then acceleration and top end suffers by a lot . Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Vibrations are a difficult to locate problem . It can appear from so many things - like wheel & sprockets , their bearings , the handle stem & bearings , chain , swingarm bush etc , other than the engine itself . So you got to observe observe observe and locate it accurately . I'm a slow rider and mine has never crossed 80kmph , but it climbs up to that 80 smoothly without any nautanki
. Yours should not be any different - once you find the problem .
About run in - after I took delivery of my Crux ( the one you see me on in my pic here ) , I filled some petrol , took her to Red-Road and ran her to 80+ and kept her around that speed all along and then the engine stopped - stalled , seized , kaput - whatever . I was alert and as soon as I felt the stall I had pulled in the clutch lever and free-wheeled to a stop , parked the bike - I was then just reached the Calcutta race-course and it was so cool and green . So I found a chaiwala and had a smoke - trembling . When I came back 10-15 mins afterwards and tried a kick , the bike started up like nothing had happened . Whew ! A new bike just out of showroom about an hour back ! Well , of all my bikes this one had the best torque and pick-up for it's life . Mechanics used to comment that it pulled like a steam engine , whenever I gave it for service . All along I was riding it , I never missed my RX . I never told this story here before , because run-in is such a controversial topic and there are so many points of view about it . But this is something I found out for real , so during run in , I am never very kind to my bike .Last edited by Pinaki; 08-12-2014, 02:26 AM.
