But I am not sure about the exact material used on the hero cable . There is supposed to be a warning on the clutch cable package that it should not be oiled , but I'm not sure about that either - since I haven't had to buy a clutch cable yet . But one thing is sure , it really happened to mine after a generous oiling .
This is only for the clutch cable , the other cables ( speedo , front brake & throttle ) were fine with oiling - no problem .
Is your cable Hero / Hero-Honda OEM part ? AFAIK only OEM Hero-Honda ( Hero ) and Suzuki clutch cables are friction-free type .
AFAIK, pinaki sir i think most or all of the bike uses friction free cables these days, one of my friends has brought yamaha ybr, and when he asked the serviced guy to oil the cable on first free service, the guy there told us it's a friction free cable and it dosen't need oiling.

Hello everyone , splendor's rear tyre had tread depth but due to weathering and ageing the tyre was very hard and lost suppleness while riding , also due to intense heat here it was getting worse by each day. So changed it to Ceat Gripp 52P 3.00-18 which makes splendor look so much meatier . I am now envious that tyre in my extreme has 0 grip compared to splendor's old tyre which was ceat M86 . It was real grippy tyre and used to cost 6-700 back in 2009 , now it costs 1580 for same tyre . See the inflation. On other note i am repeatedly failing to tune afr in splendor as i am not able to differentiate the variation in sound and vibrations .Can anyone tell what no. of turns of afr screw in stock circlip position does splendor have ?
Some pics of tyre.

I had option between TVS , MRF and Ceat , since i fitted ceat F85 in front and i liked it so went for this Grip model , but i was keen on M86 as it is bang for buck in city roads , it never skidded under hard braking and if skidded sometime it would give out white smoke , There was a Dunlop tyre which had same tread pattern like M86 but was available in 2.75-18 which i didnt want again. Tyre wala also said this is one of the best tyres and ceat is one of the underrated tyre brands, The moment i drove on new tyre the confidence came back . I could brake hard without skidding, also the pattern is ok ok suitable for offroad use . So in all i am happy with this tyre.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
AFAIK, Hero cables never need oiling as they are pre-lubricated.
The quality of Hero Honda cables were way above competition(Suzuki, Yamaha etc) back in 90's, but now I think other manufacturers also have good quality cables.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Almost all of these indian two wheeler manufactureres are sourcing these cables from the same company, becuase of which quality is mostly same, i can't say of suzuki but in 90's also yamaha's cable quality was equally good to that of hero honda cables.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Can joys block piston be swapped with a cd100? As i read this thread i see the piston design is diffrent and the piston skirt is longer. Also i see the part qualty is higher. Usha make it will be! Whick bikes bore kit would be best? Are they even interchangeable?
Should camshaft be replaced? Bike was running with lal ghoda crapoil for 10k kms:banghead:
The 3rd gear is broken I think, uncle says the bike makes a khat khat khat khat nosie from the chain on 3rd gear only!!
The exhaust is shorter than original! Its not rusted but its louder than newer ones. Chrome is brand new everywhere.
Ps:- are you all angry at me?
Evryone is getting angry at me today...

Joy and CD series use piston with longer skirt (GN5).Originally posted by Divyanshp150 View PostCan joys block piston be swapped with a cd100?
Splendor and passion use piston with shorter skirt (KCC).
Sibun mentioned that GN5 piston can be used in joy, CD, splendor and passion but KCC piston is not to be used in CD and Joy because it would wear out soon .
For CD you need to get a GN5 kit , a genuine USHA kit if you can.
As far as other engine parts are concerned, open the engine and see what all parts are damaged then make a list of parts to be purchased. Post the pictures here and we will help you out.

1. Bore kit- get usha or OE as present OE are much better in quality and has USHA or GOETZE rings. Go for GN5 piston and rings.
2. Valve kit
3. Timing kit,
4. Clutch plates and Clutch housing along with GPT.
5. No need of crank on opening if found worn out then change the connecting in a lathe.
6. Crank main bearings.
7. No need of camshaft as in this engine hardly wears out.
8. Gear - cannot say as after opening can see and tell.
9. Packing kit, o-ring kit and oil seal kit along with head o-ring. Thats all.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Ive read in many posts oe piston is very bad has the quality improved? Should I just stick with usha bore kit and piston?
What are the parts I will need if I have to replace the entire gearbox? Or can the faulty 3rd gear be replaced? I am not quite sure of the gear functionality and parts here.
Is their an engine bearing kit for this engine? Like the rx100 and even pulsars you can buy an engine bearing kit that has all the engine bearings
And oil pump should not be touched is what I read am I right?
I am sorry I am pestering you all with so many questions, im a little nervous with the engine opening etc,
