Hello All. My dad's passion pro's chain makes kat kat sound when driving. This issue has been reported every service but it disapperars for like 2-3 days and then comes back every time. Please tell why it is happening. I think the chain and sprockets are at the end of their life. (19k kms its Hero chain I think). If they are kaput then I want to replace the chain and sprocket set with rolon. Any specific part number of rolon chain and sprocket set for passion pro?

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
My herohonda CD DAWN is almost 8 years old & done 52000kms.
no major problems yet. No major maintenance is done. Timing chain, transmission chain, clutch everything is factory fitted.
From last 2 years i am doing servicing on my own, cleaning carburetor, tuning, air cleaner, cleaning & adjusting gap of spark plug, transmission chain oiling & replacing oil.
Clught is good & kick is not slipping.
Currently it seems that my bike is giving me lesser average around 55 to 60 kmpl. I smell some petrol from few days.
Yesterday i opened spark plug (NGK CR6HSA) it is light brown, i checked strength of coil by removing plug cap & connecting cable to spark plug then taking it slightly apart in bike running condition looks OK. After that spark-plug turn completely black. Removed cleaned again and fixed. Will change to Bosch plug this week end.
I need to know how much reason for lesser average, How to check if timing chain or valves are leaking etc which i think may be reason for lesser average.
Please guide. Any other point need to be checked.Last edited by ybedekar; 09-07-2016, 12:18 PM.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
try to get beyond the chain cover and see if you can inspect the rear sprocket for any unusual wear and tear. If Yes, same will be visible on chain. IF NOT (which i hope is the case) then you just need to take the bike to an experienced mechanic and get the chain tension checked/adjusted.Originally posted by Brezon95 View PostHello All. Ask the retailer for "passion plus' " chain. It is thicker than passion pro's. Costs Rs.700Originally posted by Brezon95 View PostHello All. My bike runs with passion plus' chain and it is diamond make. It was bought from the hero spares itself.

Thanks Satson, Pinaki da, & dumb0 for the guidance. Changed plug cap to pulsar's. Bike feels a little bit more eager than before. cost = 57 rs. And jeswin, I would probably have to change my passion pro's chain set in a month or two, so which would be the best. passion plus' or some other. diamond make or rolon etc.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
You can go for passion plus' chain.
The stock chain was replaced at 30k kms just for the sake of it. It would have been good for another 10k kms minimum.
At present, this chain doesn't seem to have any wear and tear.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Brezon ji,
Commonly a worn chain and sprocket makes little khat noise.
First you check your chain slack and lubricate it with little grease .Grease can reduce the noises.
If the chain slack is different in different places shows the chain and sprocket worn is abnormal.
worn rear sprocket bearing will also cause to make noises and vibrations.
The side changing of chain or sprocket while reassembling after removing them also cause to vibrations, noises, abnormal wear and tear .
The lasting of chain depends upon how we care it.If You properly cleaned and lubricate the chain it will last 30k . My father splendor plus comes with hero chain now it cover around 36 k.If you have to change the chain replace with Diamond kit is good it can cover more than 40k with out any problem.Last edited by ranjithp; 09-11-2016, 10:02 AM.

Now i have open the screw about 1.75 full turn by myself and the engine breathing freely and when i open about 2 full turn it becomes lazy.so finally it putbit on 1.75 full turn.

From my knowledge if the timing chain is worn it will start to make noise from left side of the engine.A timing chain will last average 40k-50k then it start to make noise.
from spark plug i feel you are running a little rich .I feel it because ,your plug is hotter and the the tip of the plug is black with carbon.
In the case of valves if it has leak compression will reduce.
If the exhaust valve is leak it will make a 'fufu' noise from cylinder head.
if the leak is in intake valve the ideal rpm will increases or rpm will variable.
This is only my knowledge i don't know it is perfectly correct.
