Unless you develop wings I cant thinkk of a way to maintain sanity in Bglore traffic. In heavy traffic classic style handle bar is better than relaxed position of TB.
TB is great for cruising. RE are mostly hand made so there will be some tolerance in their manufacturing. I dont think unreliability is still an issue with REs.PDI list -there are several in this thread and 500 thread. Did u try out the Duke? I had a big confusion between Duke and TB when I was buying.sorry for adding to the confusion but better to try all options before you buy

How about the frequency of maintenance in the TB350? Is it too frequent? I have a travelling job where I am away from home for months...will the bike give me trouble after I return...? I don't see myself being able to push a 200kg bike to the service centre. [emoji29]
I have read on other forums about the unreliable service centres. Can anyone in blore suggest a good service centre?

Can members also help me out with a PDI list while taking delivery of the bike?

Which is the best exhaust for thunderbird? I would like to have good rhythm and beat but not so loud exhaust. I dont like loud ones personally and the cops will make issues.
Will their be mileage drop and will any of those exhaust affect the engine? And will there be any performance upgrade?
      Thank you

I would like to know if we can raise the stock front suspension (lengthen) by 2 inches. If yes, how can we do that, and are there any drawbacks to it? I have a few ideas, like adding 2 inches metal spacers over the existing spacers, or adding another coil spring over the existing springs. Please suggest.

I am facing a couple of issues with my RE Thunderbird350 which specially starts in the rain What could be the problem?
My bike Thunderbird TBTS is 6 years old. The problems faced are*
Condition of my bike: Regularly serviced, the battery is new (6 months old) and the battery is able to give power to all the lights and instruments when the engine is off. So the battery has enough charge (I would guess). My bike idles at 950 rpm

          1) Unlike when its dry, the bike takes some time to reach a steady idle in rainy days. The feeling is as if the engine is choking "bhuk bhuk --buk--". If you force the throttle, the engine simply dies. Only after 5 min of playing around with small throttle bursts does the engine starts to hold on its own when idling* Anyone with the same problem or solution?*

          2) Consider you are riding for 30 min and suddenly its starts to rain pretty bad, my bike starts to choke again within and minute and mostly shuts down. It wont start unless I wait for 5-10 min and try again. (If its starts after that, it will be not unless I have kicked it at least 10-15 times)(It has already got me into serious trouble due to this)

          3) Consider the bike is idling. When I am using all the electrical units ( headlight, instrument light, turn signal and the break lights), my tachometer acts funny. Somehow, the tachometer starts fluctuating between (0-500) and indicates a much lower while that is not the case in reality and the engine is still idling. The idle speed slows down a little bit as well but not as low as the tachometer indicates. Anyone with this problem and may be some solution. (This one happens with or without rain)

I changed the wiring assembly completely. Now the dancing rev problem is gone. The carb was not the problem, but the fuel line was. The fuel line was cracked up and water was easily entering the carb from the lining crack which was causing the engine to stall as soon as it rains. This however is not yet tested and will have to wait for Mumbai rains next year to check it out .
So as of now, everything is smooth.

                  Cheers xBhp

I've used the ViaTerra tank bag and it does not touch the handlebar. The precaution is not to load voluminous stuff in the side pockets.

                      Hi,
Recently completed a road trip to Rann of Kutch on my TB 350. Sharing a few points I noted,
                      1. The bike remains steady on the highways even at speeds and trucks passing by
                      2. Excellent handling on the roads if the tyre pressure and suspensions are adjusted
                      3. Average per liter achieved was 38 km/l (was carrying saddle bags, tank bag, and a pillion all the time)
                      4. Since my ride had extensive driving on 4 days carried a chain spray and used it whenever required (i.e. chain ran dry)
                      5. No oil leaks
                      6. Had used an additive in engine oil before starting and it helped keep the engine smooth even after approx. 2800 kms run

Will add few more points soon

Has anyone tried to change the fuel tank on the TB350? If so, please give me some pointers. My tank isnt so bad, but its started rusting from the inside, and I need to change soon. While I'm at it, I want to get a better tank, with a proper fuel cap and cover, which does not let tankers full of water to seep inside that tank.

                          Any pointers would be helpful.

                          Cheers!

Well after a bit of searching around, and also being tempted by the much too expensive vardenchi kits, I'm back to reality, and here's an update:

                          1. New seats: Next in line, will not dabble much, found a contact, and will get it done next month.
                          2. New rear veiew mirrors: tried a few after markets, but wasnt happy. Will try the cafe racer ones mentioned by someone here.
                          3. New windshield, dropped the plan for now, no long tours coming up.
                          4. Right side sare guard: Dropped the plan completely, the design is wrong! It would be a nightmare if i have a flat on the rear tyre. Now going to put stays for saddle bags. Thinking of removing the left saree guard as well to put stays in place.
                          5. Head light grill, no luck in finding one. Might have to order online.
                          6. Front fork gaitors: Ordered online. waiting for delivery.

Another addition: Fuel tank!! My fuel tank has started rusting, and i am thinking of replacing it with one with a better fuel cap/cover, which does not let so much water seep in.

Any pointers in these terms will be very helpful.

                          Cheers!

Yes, I can certainly get it de rusted. My problem is in the basic design of the cank fuel inlet which lets in lots of water during monsoons or otherwise, and causes a lot of inconvenience. I would be perfectly happy if I can find someone who can just modify the fuel tank and install a proper bung, which does not let so much water inside. (Im sure finding such a guy is more difficult than a tank which already has it). See attached picture as a reference of what I am looking for.

                              Cheers!
