Hi... The bike is spanking new and has only been ridden on days when the weather has been extremely dry.. Even I thought it might be coz of the low oil level but the indicator shows full as I rode the bike for 5 min, put it on the main stand and checked.. Exhaust bolts I doubt are the culprit as there is no smoke or anything of that manner observed... Only the smell is pretty strong... Another biker friend told me that it might be because of the clutch.. But I am a sedate rider following all the break in conditions.. Still the smell persists!!

Hi guys. After riding my xtreme for over 2.5 years. I have finally decided to upgrade my ride. I was engaged in the xtreme cbz topic in this forum. I have booked thunderbird 350 Marine color about a month ago. Have submitted the documents. The showroom guy (Ghodbunder road, Thane) has assured me the delivery of my Bike in another 15-20 days. I will post a detailed review about the bike and also the run in period mileage what i receive. Please can anyone suggest me is it better to create a new thread or comment on the existing thread

Barely have ridden it for 75 kms since the purchase as it gave me too many issues in the first week of purchase itself like fuses going kaput and improper wire connections etc.. The bike had stalled around 3 times in the first 10 days itself post which after getting tough with the showroom and service centre it was all rectified.. Immediately I had to go out of town for work for a span of 2 weeks thus couldn't ride my bike at all.. Even the sudden rains have been a damper.. Now however I have started riding it a bit but a new problem has started... There is a very strong burning smell coming from the engine area after riding the bike for just 2 odd kms everytime.. I am diligently following the run in instructions of not exceeding 50 kmph and 4k rpm... But still the burning smell is pretty strong.. Tried inspecting the bike but everything seems normal... What could be the issue guys? The bike is always covered and kept in a closed parking area... 1st service is up this week but I am pretty paranoid about riding the bike as of now because of this smell as the thought of pushing this bike again incase it stalls again gives me the creeps... Please help!!!
              Hello welcome to the club
That burning smell I think is normal even my bike used to give that. Make sure you ride it regularly and get it checked at the first free service if you think there is something burning.

                • Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Battery Query

Yesterday my TB350 battery went down and I took the vehicle to battery store. There they have filled the battery with water and vehicle is running good now.

I was under the impression that the battery in TB350 is Maintenance Free because I saw "MF" in the manual so I thought the battery is Dry battery type so charging it at specific interval is not needed. But yesterday only I know we can fill water and charge it.

Also the information in the RE website and the owners manual seems to be little confusing. It is mentioned as 8AH in the website and 14 AH in the Manual. What is the power of the battery actually?

So what exactly "MF" means? Does it is advisable to pour water in to TB350 battery and charge it?

                  Thanks

Got a TB350 2015 Model yesterday..going fine with some minor issues..like slight wobbling, Mixer grinder noise in head,Etc..Etc..

Edit:Ride around 500kms no problems found, local mech says machine fine and the noise from head are common in RE.
finally got a mileage of 45kms pre lit..Totaly Happy now..

Hi all, Im a 5'7" rider and i currently own a honda and clocked over 28k in it. I'd like to buy a new bike and as far as my rides were concerned im very much into a comfortable bike both for me and the pillion. I had plans of buying the classic 350 as im a college goer and standard doesnt suit me currently ( nor does she like it) i had thought of it as a comfortable bike for my needs based on my short rides on it. A few days back i rode the classic for almost the whole day covering roughly 100 kms with pillion and man it is so not comfortable i couldn't sit on the floor as my tailbone would hurt. I even got a blister on my hand so it is my most humble request to everyone to let me know what are my options as a comfortable bike and i was keen on the thunderbird too but is out of budget slightly more than classic so please help me.?

Hello there, if your sole purpose is short city commutes I say look at bullet 350, standard 350. Not only these bikes are retro in looks but they have sofa seats and I mean it literally. I own a Thunderbird and I can vouch for it as a able cruiser but city commutes is a pain. I too am 5'7-5'8 and in my opinion don't look at tbts for city commutes. One more important thing I would like to stress is all Royal enfields are heavy, one fall and you won't get up easily. If city commutes are your only requirement I dare say look at other options.

I recommend Standard 350... I own one and I can vote for it. It is extremely versatile fr both city and highway. Very low maintenance bike, all you need to ensure that a timely services are done. Can be modified to suit your college looks . Jokes apart, if Enfield is your choice then go for standard. Let me know if you need any specific details, will share my experiences.

Hey bro I too was in a similar dilemma a few months back...I took delivery of a tb350 on the 10th of August.. I barely ride it on the highways and primarily use it within the city... And mind you I reside in proper central Mumbai where the traffic is at its worst..this bike is the bike on which I have learned to ride as well and boy am I happy with it.. Initially when I bought it, I kind off regretted it because of the minor niggles which mind you is only because of the faulty pdi conducted by the morons in the delivery Center (they did not tighten the battery leads thus the damn fuse kept blowing and they forgot to connect the charging cable) .. Trust me the bike is pretty rideable in the city and once you get accustomed to it you just can't switch to a lower cc bike.. I tried riding my friends r15 v1 last week and could barely ride it for more than 500 mts bcoz I'm soo used to the tb.. It is a beautiful machine and even I had a cash Crunch when I bought it as even the classic was out of reach for me... Somehow managed to collect the extra moolah and purchased it... I love the riding position of the tb a lot and on the highway it is another creature all together... You don't need to worry about potholes much as this bike glides over them pretty smoothly... Even the weight mind you is not that big of an issue once the bike is in motion...

Only tip I can give from my extremely limited experience of owning a RE let alone a bike is that...

                            1) get the bike wiped daily and keep the bike covered when not in use.

                            2) irrespective of whether you are gonna ride it or no just religiously kick start the bike in the morning and let it idle for a bit because I am talking from experience, if the bike is left unused for more than a week then u will definitely get a free leg work out without visiting the gym... Lol.

The classic too is a good bike but I have always lusted for the chrome 500 which is way out of reach for me currently... Maybe in a couple of years I may upgrade to it... It is kind of exclusive too...

Anyways, do let us know what u decide to get!!!

                            All the best!!

Hi thanks for the reply bud. My main rides would be focused in the city with occasional highway tours but my rides have never been short. I ride atleast 20 kms at a time thats the least daily. And on my use of the classic it made me get blisters on my hand anyways the chestnut color with beige seats are hooking me XD
