  • Some more pics...

No more ugly number plate... Though I took the long route to take it off, by removing the front fairing... Had to put in two washers behind every mirror to compensate for the lack of the number plate frame...

Some pics of the hugger install... I used a combination of methods to get it done... No cable ties and only one bracket... The front right side of the hugger is unattached, but the right rear and the left front and rear parts are bolted to the swing arm... I'll take more pics to explain tomorrow.

Tomorrow, going to send the bike to a local garage to get the left side fairing painted... Also will get a nice wax polish done if there is time...

    • Ninja 250r power confusion...

There seemed to be a lot of confusion about the peak power rating of the ninja 250r somewhere between pages 500-540... Bajaj says it makes 33hp and they are right... Someone else stated it makes 26hp... And he is also right... How can both figures be true? There is always a difference between the power an engine produces at crank and the power that gets transferred to the rear wheel... So it is highly likely that both the 33hp and 26hp figures are correct... If you look at some sites, they note the power output as rwhp - rear wheel horse power... This is attained by testing the bike on a dyno, rather than testing the engine on the dyno... I hope this helps clear out the confusion...

P.s. the actual figure might be different from 26, but there will always be a difference...
      Brake horsepower

Brake horsepower (bhp) is the measure of an engine's horsepower before the loss in power caused by the gearbox, alternator, differential, water pump, and other auxiliary components such as power steering pump, muffled exhaust system, etc. Brake refers to a device which was used to load an engine and hold it at a desired RPM. During testing, the output torque and rotational speed were measured to determine the brake horsepower. Horsepower was originally measured and calculated by use of the indicator (a James Watt invention of the late 18th century), and later by means of a De Prony brake connected to the engine's output shaft. More recently, an engine dynamometer is used instead of a De Prony brake. Although the output delivered to the driving wheels is less than that obtainable at the engine's crankshaft, a chassis dynamometer gives an indication of an engine's 'real world' horsepower after losses in the drive train and gearbox. This gives a reasonably accurate indication of how a wheeled vehicle engine will perform once on the road.

26bhp is for the US version(carburetor), 33 bhp for European version(FI). We got lucky!

          • Some more pics of DIY hugger...

Bracket... I had a nut welded on the inside and got it powder coated...

Bracket placement... This is on the exhaust side... Removing the exhaust muffler helps tremendously in this install... Also, if you notice, I had to bend the brake line holding brackets to make the hugger sit more flush with the swing arm...

Left side, managed to get both front and rear sections bolted down to the swing arm.
