hey man.. thanks for the reply..

the SVC guy here told me that the magnet is making such noise and the noise is very much normal... i actually got shocked cause i never heard anything like that before..

i have took my bike like 7 to 8 times excluding service times.... n everytime a static answer... your bike has no issues.. .maybe these guys aren't trained for repairing ZMR's....

If you are not satisfied, i suggest to ask your SVC to call a engineer from HH...they visit SVC on call...or you can call regional office of HH...

I have been facing issues with my ZMR as well..

has anyone experienced too loud engine noise??? i bought in August 2010 and have done almost 6k and 3 services on time but the engine noise doesn't goes down...
What kind of noise ? can you elaborate

I got it checked at the service center every time and there's only one guy who can service a ZMR, he always says "sir ji aapki gaadi thik hai.. koi problem nahi hai... engine bhi thik hai... n jo aawaz hai woh coil ke magnet ki hai... "

Now as far as i know the magnet does not makes any sound (correct me if i'm wrong) and the noise is like very loud while riding... and i hate loud noise coming from engine while riding...

Zma-R and ZMR both share same engine and they are smooth and not noisy

        So here are my questions:

        1. Has anyone ever faced the noise issue before??
        2. Is there a better engine oil other than stock HH one which can reduce the vibrations and the noise???

Try 20W40 Mineral oil with JASO MA2 spec
        MOTUL,GULF PRIDE 4T PLUS,SHELL HELIX,CASTROL

        3. Does the Coil Magnet makes so much noise?
        NO

Can anyone suggest me a good service center in Gurgaon or Delhi??

        I live in gurgaon...

        please suggest guys...

1)hmmmm as rim has scratch it must be silver ?
use a good marker pen on the scratch to hide it

2)its normal tell SVC to tighten nuts and bolts

            3) gears would be smooth after 3-4th service
chain sound is trademark of karizma
            dont worry its normal
            i love it lol

For gear shifts, i found a method to engage the neutral gear fast and effectively.
Thanks for all your replies guys! thats a relief that many Riders have this problem...after reading all your discussions before i think i ll go for Pirelli m45 or something...thanks guys!

my friend has also took his ZMR to 134k's(do mind that ZMR has most accurate speedo among all Indian bikes including zma-r)..but that i guess he might be on slope so conditions were favoring him but that isn't a normal case..

ohh ok, yea.. i agree with you here... its might not be accurate but the speedo said 130 lol

PSR... the noise is like that of a tappet but not coming from the front... it's more clear when heard from either of the sides of the bike...

Can you tell me if the magnet makes any noise or not... cause i owned a Honda Unicorn (2nd gen) and she never gave me any issues with the engine or anything...

And should I go for a different engine Oil now or should i wait till 4th or 5th service to be done??

                • My ZMR is making hell of a noise from both wheels , Brakes (also not effectively working)) . Front shock ups are also not working properly . The SVC people have called me tomorrow for diagnosis . Lets see what will happen tomorrow
                  I don't brake rules , I merely test their elasticity ;)

If you are hearing a tick , tick noise on BOTH sides of engine it is likely to be Tappets...provided you don't have any other issues.
The magnet never makes any noise. It is like a cup, and bolted to the crank shaft and sits on the left side of bike(Petrol TAP side),and the stator coil sits inside the cup to generate the Voltage for the bike.
Go for a 20W40 oil with JASO MA 2 certification.Even a mineral oil will do and you will have peace of mind for the next 2,000Kms .Here is a pic of what the Magnet and coil is like...Part No 5 is the rotating Magnet..

                      thanks for the reply mate..

The tappets were set in the last service. but the sound has not changed since then.... I just hope there's no issue in engine.... also, there's some issue with the first gear as well... i had a issue with the gears before second service i.e. the clutch spring broke and the SVC guys kept my bike for 2 weeks... due to no spares available... but after 3rd service.. there some issue... the first gear sometimes doesn't locks easy... it makes a noise like the sprocket is skipping... but once i release the clutch and do it again.. it goes smoothly....

the gear issue is normal as i'll get it fine sooner... but i need to know about the engine issue.... and is it feasible to change the engine oil before 4rth or 5th service???? as one of my friend said that one should use different oil after 5th service.....

                      awaiting your reply...

Most often hard gear shifting and problems associated with it are due to oil and incorrect clutch cable free play setting. There is no difference in oil to be used from new to 5th service or beyond it...You have to use JASO MA 2 oils of 20 W 40 for good smooth engine, while some use 10W30 . Change oil every 2,000 Kms for long life of engine.Changing it by yourself is also welcome..at least you will be sure the oil is changed...Some of the A.S.S. do not change oil but just top it up....this will lead to premature engine parts wear......and a mineral oil costs just Rs.200/-..which is really worth changing if you look at the protection and lube it gives..

How much KM you have done?
Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

                            • Returned yesterday from haridwar-dhanaulti-tehri-chamba trip.
after the trip my timing chain and tappets are making too much of noise, i think i should replace the timing chain.
btw my bike has covered 4753 approx kms on odo.
