      H
Check the current on the battery terminals, if it is lesser than 13V with little throttle input and all lights off then check for the magnet.
I had faced the same issue with 2010 classic 500 at 32K on the odo.
Magnet or the coil or alternator had gone week, hence this issue.

        Vipin,
I have done complete conversion i.e. Carb from B500 (UCD33) Wiring harness and magnet from CL350 however TCI unit from B500.
My mechanic has done some tweak in the wiring harness to accommodate the TPS sensor.

I am not facing any miss-fire, back fire or black plug.

        Regards

Thanks mate, the colour looks real good in flesh, and the long ride was awesome.

The fault is with the injector. Got the carb already. Yet to be fixed. Keeping the ECU. Carb is UCD33. Will keep you updated. Was out of station so the work remained pending.

              • Erratic sound from C500(RE) engine probably due to hydraulic tappet

                Hello To all,
This is probably my first post in xbhp, but have been following a lot of posts and blogs over here from a long time. Finally writing down something.

I have a classic 500, feb 2104 model which has done 25k kms by now, most of which has been long rides and not much of city traffic riding. Recently on a ride back from Mullayangiri (Chikmagalur, Karnataka), heard a big takkk sound and the bike started wobbling while throttling down and then while braking. The chain and the sprocket was weak and I had thought few teeths might have ripped out, and hence the chain slippage might be the cause. But it was not the cause which I realized later, that a broken swing arm axle bolt holding the swing arm was the culprit. Thankfully, I did ride back safe to Bangalore without much of a hiccup later. I did change them, and also the sprocket- chain set the very next day at a local RE service centre here as it was a minor issue.

From the next day onwards, I could hear a very irritating TIK TIK TIK sound and it was gradually increasing as the engine temp went up, say after riding for 3-4 kms, the sound was very prominent and trust me, very much worrying one.

On consultation, I was told, the two hydraulic tappets you see when you open the bottom case on the right side has been punctured and its not pushing out as its supposed to do. this is the cause and for them to be changed, the engine head needs to be opened which is my cause of worry with the innumerable cased of leaks and issues reported after opening up. anyone here could put a better remedy for this or have any knowledge on how this could be cured in an easier way than opening up?
Also, would want to know what would be the reason behind this puncture? After reading some blogs and post all over Google, people have a variety of opinions starting from improper run in, delayed oil changes, inappropriate grades of oils used, silencers and the heavy load of 500 engine and what not.

I have had a very decent run in, I change oils strictly at every 3000 kms and except in one case where I tried a shell semi synthetic (which was actually wow, with the smoothness of gears, except that it cost a lot of bucks), everytime It was their stock Liquid Gun which was used.

I hope to get some light on this from the ones who know about the issue.

One more query is on the crank shaft, I could feel a little play, say max 1mm at the ends. Is it okay to leave it just like that for now or should it be checked on seriously.

                Thanks!
                Ride safe all!

^^^Sorry to hear about your problems Binoy. I sincerely hope some of the senior members would be able to point you in the right direction. I'm a total noob here, but from the service manual, for engine noisy trouble shooting they list the following options:- Incorrect octane rating, excessive clearance between piston and cylinder, loose rocker arm spindle, hydraulic valve lifters damaged, excessive small end clearance, cam spindles adjustment/ damaged cams, worn out/ damaged big end bearings. I hope this will help you a little.

About me, I'm pretty excited now. Got delivery of my Desert Storm the day before . Well the delivery experience as such dampened my spirits a bit, but the ride itself has been pretty exciting. I have zero experience riding bikes. As a matter of fact after crashing a rented Splendour in my college days, while learning, this is the first time me riding a geared motorcycle. But all my apprehensions went away as the bike started moving. Its so easy to ride and well balanced, contrary to what everyone's been telling me ("Its a mistake to go on big bikes directly"). I could remember how I struggled with the clutch release on that old Splendour, but here there was no drama and everything was so linear. I have clocked only about 20kms so far, till now I have only few queries with the bike.
                  1. I had raised this query in another thread. Sometimes I have to apply a bit of throttle to start with E-start (not yet tried to kick start). Is it normal or will I damage the sprag clutch or something?
                  2. This is not much of a downside but I cannot seem to get the bike to Neutral while coming to a stop. I have to fiddle a lot after stopping the bike to find Neutral. Well I know this is a known issue and after first service the situation will improve. And in the mean time I'll keep practicing.
                  3. I'll probably dislocate my spine in a few months trying to get in and out of center stand. But probably its worth it .

Why nobody interested in classic 500 anymore?

Anyway 'm finding my palms to be a bit small for confident operation of brakes. I find it difficult to reach two fingers on the brake lever while on throttle. so I was thinking about these Moxi levers I found on ebay and installing them after first service.

Anybody has experience with them for enfield? On the other forum, I had found that this is not exactly plug and play in Duke 200, and a lot of modification is required. Also brake feel is compromised after moving to this lever. Any one has installed them on Enfields?

I have had the exact same experience with my Desert Storm i got 2 moths back. Learnt to ride a bike a month before on a TVS Fiero, a total of 1 hour maybe on it, never went beyond 2nd gear on that, the DS is the first bike i'm riding properly.

Didn't know throttle while E-Start might damage anything, will be careful not to do that from now on then. I do use the Kick Start every time I start the bike from home, have to use my right leg while the bike is on center stand, sometimes it takes just one try, sometimes 10.

Finding Neutral really is a problem for me too sometimes, if you're at rest , try moving a bit forward and backward ,and then try to find Neutral.
Some other time if i shift gears too fast without pressing proerly the bike stops even though the Neutral indicator isn't green, but it is at neural, i have to push down forward to get it to 1st.

And the center stand, i was unable to get it to stand the first 3 days, was literally out of breath trying still failed. Had even dropped the bike on the opposite side once. But now it feels quite easy to do. I think it's all in the technique rather than strength.

Nice bro. I don't know if using throttle while using e-start is bad or not. I was asking here. Apart from that, I have heard that it is better to sue E-start while starting from cold instead of kick start. Though I'm not sure where I read that. And if it is correct.

Have you completed your 500km run in and first service?

First service was at 45 days or 500km whichever came first, had to go to them on the 45th day with 250 km clocked -_-'

Currently at 550kms, next service on September 2nd week. Hoping to cross 1200kms by then.

I suggest don't do any modifications till your warranty period is over even exhaust change as any mods done before will void your warrant. Later red rooster exhaust is best for good thump and 3bhp increase

                              • Batteryless bullet driving

                                Hi everyone,

I own a bullet 2013 forest green model. One of the reasons I bought it was because I thought bullet was completely mechanical machine and could run even without a battery. Imagine my dismay when I found out this wasn't true. The fact that this realisation dawned on me when I was 20 kms from anywhere made the experience even more bitter. The battery just died on me and so did my engine. It was not until I hitch-hiked and replaced the old battery with a new one did my bullet come to life again.

Now my question is that I have heard old bullets had magneto system that made them impervious to battery failure. So is it possible to somehow connect a magneto along with my ignition coil system to make my bike fail safe in case of such battery failures.

Even if not magneto, is there any way to complement a battery in a way so that even if it fails my bullet is drivable enough to get to the nearest mechanic.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

                                Regards
