Re: Royal Enfield Classic DS 500
I recently bought Rynox nomad version 2 and it is a pretty good saddlebag. You just need to find a sweet spot to fit it and everything will be fine. Though my wife had no issues during a 450 km ride we will still be experimenting with the positioning.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View Post

Guys, need some help here. My rear type is having no grip on wet roads. Any idea what can replace the stock MRF 18" inch 120 section tyres. Does other companies make tyres for this bike ? If I have change, will the rim need any alteration ?R15S - Current

Re: Royal Enfield Classic DS 500
Real weird thing happened when I was riding my cousins brand new classic 500 last week. The bike was less than a month old and I was covering a 16 odd km distance to reach my cousins home. At the end of the journey, found the rear IND number plate to be missing. The number plate had been properly mounted and fixed tightly, so cannot imagine how in god's name it fell off. Can't believe that the RE vibrations are strong enough to loosen both the nuts holding the number plate.
Could also be that someone stole the number plate when the bike was parked before the ride. What purpose a single number plate would serve any thief is beyond my understanding. Please advise if I should be lodging a police complaint to be on the safer side?Ride: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 Lightning

Re: Royal Enfield Classic DS 500
Are you sure if it was really stolen. If so, better lodge a complaint. All he needs is a number to stick on to the 'presumable stolen' vehicle of his. I know it is weird to even check if the number plate is still on the bike before we start. But, could be due to loose fastening, it could have fallen off due to the heavy vibes.Originally posted by V1V8K View PostCould also be that someone stole the number plate when the bike was parked before the ride. Not really sure if it was stolen. We are in an age where cops hesitate to file complaint for a stolen bike or even make you run from pillar to post before registering one. Well they register a complaint for a missing number plate is something to be seen.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic DS 500
Hello Guys,
I am planning to buy a 2010 500 Classic, Yesterday, test rode it for ~5km. I can hear a chain like sound form the righ side of engine, The owner said its usual for all models except the latest 500 Standard. It just clocked 19K on odo.
Another thing in list is a 1981 Model Bulltet 350. I am confused which one to choose.
Both are of 1Lakh.
I am planning it to use for weekend rides of 200~400 Km
If I buy 1981 model, my plan is to give it a good paint job and sell it around 1.5Lakh and buy a new 500Classic or TB
Please give me your suggestions.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Problems are rampant in older models. Chances are you'd spend more on fixing it than its selling price.
Better go for a new model and customize it.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
I bought a tan as well mate. Had to wait for two months.
CVS motors, Bangalore.
To the rest of you guys, as I'm a rookie I'd like to know a few things about customizing my bike for touring.
1) I have currently changed my stock silencer to RRP exhaust. Costed me 8k but seems to be worth it. I like riding the bike even more than usual. However, if you guys are aware of any drawbacks, do lemme know.
2) I am planning on changing my filter. I would like to know if this is actually worth it. I've heard generally that changing the filter from the stock paper one to say Green Cotton Filter or K&N gives a much better performance and ride feel. What I've also heard, is that this increases engine life and smoother flow as well. But power wise it might just be a nominal 1 - 2 bhp. But is it worth the extra expense? If so, I would like your opinions on the following:
- K&N > http://www.snapdeal.com/product/kn-r...ent-air/758363
- BMC (I'm personally rooting for this as I bought the RRP exhaust. But there are very less valid reviews) > http://www.redroosterperformance.com...oller=category
- Green Cotton Filter
3) Is it worth changing my spark plugs to:
If you guys wouldn't mind... I'd truly appreciate your help.
ThanksLast edited by Nomraw; 04-27-2015, 08:03 PM.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Will get my std 500 bt next week,
The 90 section tyre seems to be the part I need to git rid off so which tyre is better in 100 or 110 section.
If any one here put tube less tyre in alloys ?? planning to buy the following alloy also.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic 500
Glad to see people buying RRP, even though it is steeply priced. Its a stable product in a long run and it only gets better with time. Its over 5500 kms on the odo and exhaust has settled well during its 4000 kms. Initially there was high treble with the usual bass, now its all bass no treble, feels nicer. Engine is running butter smooth, higher end torque is improved.
Not a regular tourer but would strongly suggest you to change stock filter. Engine performance and life will definitely improve. Try BMC, heard a lot about it being great recently.Originally posted by Nomraw View PostI bought a tan as well mate. Had to wait for two months.

Regarding the spark-plugs, I think the current twin-spark setup is more than enough, unless you are going the complete engine overhaul way, where you are tweaking the ECU for more fuel and more explosions and stuff!
I'd suggest you to change engine oil to synthetic(castrol GTX/Magnatec) if at all you want to spend some money on your bike and get better engine life. Even I am changing to synthetic, thought of using Shell sometime before.

Re: Royal Enfield Classic DS 500
I know its lame to reply to a query after 2 months(exactly)
But yeah, some soft compound tyres from Pirelli(MT75/Sport Daemon) and MRF(Zapper vyde i think), also Bridgestone, CEAT and Michelin also have some 120 section tires on offer, check 'em out.
Soft compounds last for some 15k kms

Its not transparent, the glass should be filled just below the half level.
Something as above.
Observed the level on my oil indicator. Surprisingly its not even in the frame, the oil level is very low. Put the bike on main stand and tilt it on the right side, you will see the oil level rising.
Thank you for noticing and posting it! Its been just 15 days since the last service. Called up the service guys and thrashed them. They said they'll arrange some oil change/topup.
