No, I didn't re-calibrate the ECU and I think it doesn't need any, because ECU is kinda self-learning through the inputs it receives by its sensors. Even RRP didn't say anything about it, also they said that its a "direct fit". Anyways I'll ask the mechanic who fitted my exhaust about it. But I don't think there's any need since the engine is running well, exhaust is not missing a note, misfiring, no performance drop(rather, gained a lot!). All of them seem good-to-go signs.[experts might help]
With your bike, how was the bike behaving after the exhaust replacement?
    and video coming soon..

Buddy did you check the top speed after exhaust change. How much it was before and how much now?

I don't think it will increase top speed and even if it does it will increase it by maximum 3-4kmph...

The bike is not even 2000kms old, so didn't try it, also didn't find any safe straight for a top whack. But yes, reaching 100 has become smoother and a bit quicker.
This is their dyno graph for TBTS 350. Mid rang has improved significantly, compared to top end. Again this is for 350 and not 500.

In my case bike was behaving great and the thump was also much better than stock. I went for trip and did continuous 100+ trip. After travelling I checked oil and got to know that bike is burning the oil (White smoke issue). Came back and complained to mech. He said that I should have told him that I would use this silencer for trips. As this silencer is good for city use only and for trips I should use stock one. Jerk !!

well, now I asked the Adventure Shoppe guy who sold the RRP exhaust and even he said there was no need to fiddle with the ECU(since RRP is free flow).
BTW recently there was a Royal Enfield race somewhere in GOA and my mechanic("JUDE" from wanawari, PUNE) went there and fitted some RRP exhausts himself, so he would've told me about the ECU changes if there were any.

You might notice the bike from RRP(above) has shiny chrome-like-finish exhaust. Actually, they used to give the exhaust polished, initially when it was launched. But then it had those circles which people didn't like. Hence they started giving out exhaust in its original stainless steel finish which has a bit matte like finish , which compliments DS's color.
Its a great bike, very potent. Go for it, its a proper bike for RE lovers!

Thanks for putting up the pics. You are right, the pipe looks better in the original stainless steel finish. One thing i noticed does the pipe sit lower than the stock one,or maybe its my observation :-) . Looking forward for the video you were to put up .
From where did you get the pipe installed? I hope it would not void the warranty. Any modifications required to fix the pipe or is it a straight plug and play?

Its sitting somewhere around half an inch lower than the previous exhaust, not much. I got it fixed from a local mechanic in wanawari.
I was surprised to see RE showroom guys encouraging to change the exhaust when I bought the bike, only because they were selling those up-swept and short bottle RE silencers!
The workshop guy once told me that "you should worry about the warranty only if, any of your modifications lead to any electric failure, which won't happen after exhaust replacement. So go ahead and change it"

Exhaust is just plug-and-play. Has an adjustment screw to connect to the bend pipe and a pair more to fix it to the chassis near footrest. It can be done at home, very easy. No mods.
I am borrowing my friends handycam, so will take a couple days to post the video!

                      • Red Rooster Performance Exhaust

So here it is, I have uploaded a video and an audio(click on the dropbox link) of the exhaust note of Red Rooster Performance Exhaust.
I changed the exhaust at 1500kms, since the stock one was very restrictive and didn't sound that good.

                        EXHAUST NOTE/SOUND:

The new exhaust sounds a whole lot better, has pure bass and gives the classic bullet idle(i have a '83 Bullet 350). The real fun is in opening the throttle above 2000 rpm and it sounds mindblowingly awesome. I considered Goldstar and WildBoar initially before buying RRP. But after the a lot of research, I found RRP's note more precise and accurate. Yes, WildBoar is a bit louder but, its nothing near the clarity and bass of RRP.

                        PERFORMANCE:
The exhaust is free-flow with ceramic wool packing. RRP claims up-to 20% performance gain. The mid-range has improved significantly so now reaching 100kmph is not a big deal. Checked 0-60 kmph yesterday. Did that under 5 secs(can do better, didn't rip the bike). Also the top end has improved, so will tell you the top speed figures after 2000kms.
Mileage will vary since its a free flow exhaust. If you ride sanely, then you'll end up getting better mileage figures than the stock exhaust setup. But with all this "performance-sound" gain, people start ripping the bike at high rpms and speed and end up getting poor mileage, and then blame the free flow exhaust. For average use, keep the bike in the mid of the throttle range to get the best from both worlds.

                        COST, QUALITY and FITTING:
I got it for Rs. 7950(MRP) + Rs.250(shipping) from Adventure Shoppe, Coimbatore. Received it in 7 days(DTDC), after depositing the amount in his account. The shop guy was very co-operative. The received packaging was good. No damages at all. Asked the same to a dealer at MG Road. He asked Rs.9000 (7 days)!

RRP gives a life-time warranty and the ceramic wool needs no changing throughout its life. The material is of above average quality: thick but lighter, one of the reasons I went with RRP. Other exhausts had problems like rust so avoided them. The material is 304 Stainless steel, has matte-like finish. Looks good on DS500. Saw a Monster exhaust too, but frankly it looks puny on any Classic 350/500!

Its just a direct fit. Screw fitting at two places and viola, you are ready to thump. No ECU changes, confirmed from dealer-mechanic-RRP because its free-flow.

                        CONS:
Price. Compared to other exhausts in the market, Rs. 8200 is very costly(you can try 2-3 different exhausts at that price!) But then you get the quality and reliability of RRP.

Special thanks to my buddy rishikesh for helping in video/audio

I am looking to change the Engine oil for my CL500. Its been almost 4k since the last oil change. It was Liquid gun from the service center. What engine oil is best suited and if you can give me the correct specification for me to go and buy 4L of oil, since I am not much aware of the SAE values.

Shell helix 20W-50 is good. It's of Rs. 290. I am using it for my gladiator which has done 25k, and the engine feels very smooth. Its proven to be on good in all high mileage cars and old RE's too. Also looking forward to use it in Cl DS500. You can go for synthetic too...

Thanks a lot @pistonBOY. But the recommended one is 15w50, will taking a higher viscosity oil , will it cause any pressure in seals, will it flow easily during morning cold starts ?

Can I buy these from any Shell bunks ?? And also, we need 3.5 L of Engine oil..right ??
