Chennai-Walajah section of NH 4 is full of potholed, patched up, uneven, rough road unworthy of being called a toll road, although two-wheelers have free pass-through. Hotel Sai Sangeethas, located on LHS after the Walajah toll plaza, is a nice restaurant for a coffee/tea/food break.

Walajah-Krishnagiri section is an excellent 6-lane NH 46, where one enjoy the ride/drive. Hotel Aryaas, located on RHS below the flyover at the junction of NH 46/Katpadi road, is a nice restaurant, where the food is good.

Be careful at the T-junction of NH 46 and NH 7, where you have to take a left turn, ride towards Salem for a few hundred metres, and then, take a U-turn to go on the flyover of NH 7 towards Bangalore. From here onwards, traffic volume will be more. Krishnagiri-Hosur section is an excellent 6-lane NH 7.

Hosur-Attibele section of NH 7 is also a 6-lane highway, where construction works are still in progress at Hosur and beyond. So, ride carefully upto Attibele toll plaza. Attibele-Bangalore stretch is a beautiful 6-lane road.

    Bon voyage.

Thanks. Also, The Erode dealer here is unclear about the saree guard removal option, he says it can be removed but he doesn't have stay to fill up. I have seen in previous posts that it can be removed and a similar stay can be installed for around 1000 to 1500 INR. Where can I get this done in Chennai ? Preferably which showroom ?

Also can someone please list of few good ASC's in Chennai ?

Is ODOMeter error common in RE 500 ? For a trip worth 420 KMS (MAX), The ODO is reading 442 KMS, the error is around 5% and huge. Is there something I should look into ?

Yes; my Thunderbird 500's odometer has + 6% error. Not only that. The digital clock is slow. The fuel gauge shows erroneous figure.

Nothing. My Thunderbird 500's instrument cluster was changed once at 5,722 km under warranty due to cracked glass. Even the new instrument cluster follows the footprints of its predecessor!

Ah, So its common. Even though its a sign of relief, ODO error of this percentile is bad.

But sadly, Today I did a short trip to re-test with GPS. This time, for a trip length of 55.5 KMS, ODO read 60 KMS, Variance - 4.5 KMS and this time its more than 8% Anyway, I will check it up with ASC and find out whether they have any clue.

                      • Royal Enfield Classic 500 lossing ignition

Hi Friend, How are you all? My bike is not doing well from last few weeks. As have shifted to Ratnagiri and no RE SC nearby its been a great trouble. My bike is a 2013 classic 500 and its missing ignition as if loss of current or like what happens when you are out of petrol. The bike stops in between but it starts immediately when the press the Electric start. The bike runs but this happens frequently. What can be the reason I hope you have understood my problem.
                        Diagnose done
The battery is good and new Exide.
Always have minimum 2-3 lit of petrol.
Fuses all checked they are OK.
ECU mil light does not blink hence there might be no problem in ECU.
Spark plugs cleaned but not changed from day 1 now covered 11,000 km on odo.
What may be the reason for such frequent loss of ignition or sudden stopping of bike please reply very tensed.

Since the electricals are mostly fine, do check the fuel injectors. Clogged injectors would not be able to provide the fuel and the engine stops. Worth a check.

                            Ride safe and have fun.

Till you are able to find a good svc, get system-G from any BP Petrol Pump. Use that as directed on the bottle itself. Helps in cleaning the fuel lines.
