Aquatic Bullet : Not likely .. .. Im at Saudi Arabia now. Should be back either in June or July. I was reading more about it. Some people think its better to get a conventional conversion done . :/ .. So im confused again.

However, an important thing to note is that, the brake pedal rod is sitting a lot lower than the exhaust, so if at all you are thinking of off roading, you are gonna scrape the brake rod anyways. I got the brake rod scraped several times while taking turns and cornering Anyways the RRP exhaust won't get scraped, none faced in my soft-offroading experience.

Regarding the air-filter, its not mandatory. Its just that you cannot reap 100% benefits of the exhaust with the stock air filter. RRP is a free flow exhaust and it kinda demands a free flow filter for higher performance gains(at the cost of fuel!). So if you want "some" performance gain, fit the RRP exhaust and if you "some more" performance gain, fit a free flow air filter along with exhaust.

About warranty, I took my DS for its 2nd service and had great experience. The RE guy was impressed, even the classic bullet stereotypes loved the classic thump. 3 of them took the contact details of RRP. It won't void the warranty since its not fiddling with bike's electronics in any way. Don't worry about the warranty: @velociraptor13

And regarding the efficiency, I had varied experiences. In stop and go city traffic, the bike did face a marginal drop in efficiency(3-4kmpl). On long rides though, didn't face any drop , actually it marginally improved because its a free flow exhaust. SINCE you are an offroader, you'll definately face a drop in economy 3-4kmpl, not a lot for the performance gain and the amazing sound. With additional free flow air filter, you'll face an overall steep drop ~6-8kmpl in economy... but the gain in performance will be considerably more

I hate to say this ...but this is the weirdest rendering I ve ever seen. Infact, it looks like a Hero Impulse fitted with RE Electra parts....

I don't know how many saw the RE Rider Mania pics... RE had 3 motorcycles done up as factory custom - a sports bike, a street rod, an adv bike... (source - Motoring World article by Karthik Ware )

            • RE Classic 500 Malfunction Indicator Lamp on continuously.

              Hi

I own a 2012 Royal Enfield Classic 500. It has clocked about 20000 km on the odometer.

This morning while driving to office I noticed something that the MIL light was on continuously. I didn't notice any performance issues with the bike. So naturally, I stopped on the side of the road and switched off via the engine kill switch. Then I turned the ignition off.

I switched the ignition back on again and switched on the engine. Waited till the MIL light turned off and started via the electric starter. The bike started up without any issues. After riding for a couple of minutes, I noticed that the MIL light turned on again and it was glowing continuously. No blinking whatsoever.

In the morning too, I started it normally after the MIL light goes off and I let the engine idle for about two minutes.

              Should I be worried?

              Thanks.

The issue might be related to the ECU.
Go to the RE workshop asap before the problem with the ecu becomes any more grave..

You should visit the ASC ASAP. If your bike is still running after the bike MIL turns on, it is not very serious problem. Probably one of the sensors has malfunctioned. Just ride it slowly and carefully, don't stress the bike.

Although if you wish you can diagnose the problem by a simple DIY.
Locate you ECU, it should either in the box on the left hand side. Next to the ECU you will find a wire with loose tip (not connected anywhere) with most probably a green tip. Ground this wire (insert the electric wire inside the green tip and touch the other part of the electrical wire to any metallic part of your bike).
Turn on the ignition, you will notice that the MIL glows normally once and then starts glowing in patterns. These patterns are the fault codes stored with you ECU.

Thanks pistonBOY and deejaay. I took my bike to the service centre the same day itself (no MIL light during the ride to the ASC). The mechanic there checked it for almost an hour. He was not able to come up with anything.

Have had no issues since then. Bike is working fine.

On a different note, the shiny parts on the engine (aluminium?) have started to develop some dark spots on them, oxidation I think. Any remedies for that? I tried washing with sponge but it did not help.

                      Thanks for the help though!

Those are RUST marks! And the shiny bits are chrome plated steel. Bound to get rusted, avoid cleaning those parts by water, just do regular dusting.
To avoid the rust nightmare, I use some petrol to remove oil stains present on the chrome, other wise I am good with dusting it off. Chrome and paint quality is pathetic on RE.
You can't help it in rainy season though. Just try to keep the bike as much dry as possible. For now use the anti-rust spray to remove the dots on the chrome parts...
