Yes brother...without doubt...!! The TPS is a sensor that tell your FI via your ECU how much gas to be injected into the combustion chamber...!! If your TPS doesnt function properly...it will send wrong throttle position information to your ECu and hence may cause in more fuel burn..and effect the smoothness in riding.....The hick ups that you are getting may be because of the TPS malfunction....!! But to be truthful i havent heard much of TPS malfunction issues....I ride the ZMR..so cant tell you technicall how to do it on your RTR...but i think before checking your TPS you should check your injectors for any signs of debris in it...!!..at times when some dirt enters the fuel tank and passes to the Fuel filter it may cause issues that you are currently facing...!!!

Picked up the Duke yesterday! Was confused between Black and Orange, but i finally gave in to Black as usual :P

This is the only bike in india which i felt is a proper upgrade from an RTR! Nothing else came close to what RTR's like execpt Duke!

BTW, RTR is staying, not selling it. Even if i did i will sell it to my close bud only so that i can ride her frequently

Thx buddy! Only main reason are the Mech's. Most of the good mech from the SVC have moved on to 4 wheelers and the new guys dont do a good job, so i dont want to torture it anymore! Putting in lesser no of KMS on it these days. Its still stuck between 84-85k kms.

It would still be with my close bud who love my bike more than his R15! I'll have access to it whenever i want, it kind of staying in the family!

RTR gear box are notorious for their hard shifts & false neutrals.
So, I'm also suffering with the same heriditory disease
It gets worse when its time to change oil.
I need to do the same. Checked oil today. The levels are fine but the color is not so good.
                I normally use Shell semi-synthetic.

Hi sathish. You are one of the oldest person in this Apache RTR 160 thread.
Many old guys left this thread & even xbhp. Happy to see you around.
Happy to know that your RTR is still with you.
By the way congratz for your new bike. I was infact fed up with so many orange-dukes running around.
I'm always a big fan of black color. You made a good choice.
Also happy to know that RTR is closest to Duke when it comes to adrenaline rush.
But duke is short geared right? But I feel RTR is other way round.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

                  • Update...After some long time visited here ,work and other things caught me up.My RTR has done about 13k in about 2 years...still the throttle response is the same when i first rode it , always brings a smile at my face.......Gave it for service about 2 months back got the brake shoe replaced and got the Teflon coating done too,Though the amount if vibrations have increased and hate the tapet's sound. My only cause of concern which jas cropped up recently is that whenever i use the disk brake , it does not gives a linear braking effect rather it gives jerks.Any known issue?

The culprit might be some wrong fitting of the brake shoes.
I feel you have faced this issue after you replaced that.
Hit nearby SVC & get it resolved before it ruins your disc setup.

Get disc pads cleaned. They wont do this in regular service sometimes.
It can also be due to the tires as well, if its worn out.

Its a Orange RTR FI and no stickers.. u cant miss a orange FI

I am an RTR Fi owner from more than 3 1/2 yrs. Ive replaced the Fi system on the bike 2 times so far!!!

The bike is an absolute mess and no wonder its been stopped...

My suggestion to all the bike buyers, please do not buy an Fi manufactured Indian bike (BAJAJ and TVS).

The japs are experts in Fi... never have heard of complaints on them, but the Bosch Fi on my bike sucks!!!

It is so inconsistent in power delivery!! that its frustrating and Im just waiting for the right next bike to replace this Rattler!!

If you are unhappy with the performance of the bike, I suggest you shoot a mail to GM(Contact is in first page). I have seen myself quick turn arounds. They will send good engineers (not from your SVC) to take a look at your bike.
