@Raccoon: i think amco is also a exide brand.. my discover came with a amco battery and i had to take it to exide service center to claim warranty..
Actually thats not what it looks like, AFAIK. The 5 year warranty will have something like 2.5 year full warranty (if I remember correct). Rest 2.5 years will bring you a pro rata discount.

Very true, most Exides seem to be built just to last till the warranty period!

As for Amco being a Chloride brand, Its not a Chloride brand in as much that it might be an Exide in disguise! I'v heard that only Chloride, Amara Raja (Amaron) and Tata make batterys in India. All other companies source their batterys from the above and label them. I haven't confirmed the source of this information though. So in that sense what you are saying (that Amco = Exide) might be true.

IMHO, amco brand is different from Exide!
Dude, who gave you all this -ve feedback? You aren't supposed to belive shopkeepers/dealers/etc about things as they have their own vested intrests. Also many of them are very ill-informed themselves. Just buy an Amaron from an authorised dealer... you wont regret it.

    • AMCO was making batteries in tie up with Yuasa. Read on their batteries - Amco Yuasa. They were good and long lasting. My view is that they are better than SF & Exide.

Haven't seen AMCO anywhere recently. Later realized that Tata Green is TATA + Yuasa. These Tata Green's are working very good!

      • ^^^Yes, thats right. Had a good experience with Amco Yuasa on 2 bikes. On my Shogun the OEM Amco Yuasa lasted some 6 - 7 years!

So I considered buying it again, but this time it was only Amco; Yuasa was nowhere to be seen. I guessed that their partnership/colloboration must have ended... so I was a li'l sceptical about buying it as I dunno how it might have affected the quality of their product. Bought a Base Terminal instead... as I had heard good things about it.

As for Tata Green... since its a new battery, I reckon we cant really comment about its lifespan. Only time will tell.

        • I think battery usage of bikes with Electric start and kick start will be very different.

ES bikes are very much more taxing on the baterries than the KS.

may not be a fair comparison for bateries.

          • ^^^True. But how you use your ES will also be a big factor in the batt's life.

Actually scoops of refresh can be installed on old one but u need some welding/fixing of clip to support the scoops . try talking with a mechanic

well, i got it from a couple of different dealers, who had stocked Amaron. I guess they wud'nt lie about a battery which they stock!
IMHO Exide is a good deal for me..so got one

lets see how this one fares out! warranty period of more than that!

PS-My last battery which came with biked a good lasted 2.5 years

Mate as someone else pointed too, the ES strains the battery more than anything else..and with a rider like me, who turns the engine off at every signal

All in all, appreciate all the suggestions put in by you guys..thanks!!

Dude, its not that simple. Usually a dealer will push a product on which he gets the highest margin... even if he stocks other brands!! There could be other reasons too - if your batt lasts long, you will buy less batts and he would make less money, etc!

2.5 years is a pretty sad batt life! Got a friend who uses it like you - frequet ES and all... and his batt is 3.5 years old and still going great.
