I too had the same problem with my new karizma, i took it to a reliable local mechanic, just checked the metal gear, greased it properly and everything was working fine, i had to replace my plastic gear 4 within 700 kms times before the problem was fixed, now its working fine for last 1668 kms

Hi all,

i recently moved to kolkata after 12 yrs. My ZMA has clocked 11k kms and its time for me to get it serviced. I have been using Motul V300 since my last service and i will continue to do so. I request ZMA owners in Kolkata to guide me for the best HH showroom to get my bike serviced. Distance will not matter to me. Can someone help me?

Also, Inder had pointed out in earlier posts about a petrol speed97. Where can i find it in Kolkata.

Please help

I am using the Petronas 5000T Fully Synthetic oil.. it costs around 360 per liter.
Wonderful oil. Worth it, every single bit.

The old speedo inner cable was rusted and had got cut. Changed the speedo cable myself, cost me 68 bucks.

Hey Guys i got a ZMA on last saturday.....
Its a lovely baby....just love riding it...check it out orkut -
But i realized 1 thing... when i start my bike...it already show 1 RPM..... intitially when i took it from the show room it was showing 2... i asked him to lower it as i felt 2 was very high. Now my bike shuts sometimes whenever the clutch is pressed for 5-6 seconds...What is the correct RPM to set it to????

Also my bike gets heated up like crazy...so much that i can feel the heat on my legs...so i ride it for 10-15 mins and stop cos the engine get heated up.... Any clue why this is happening??? i checked the oil levels...all is fine there...

get the RPM resetted to 2K RPm, my bike P180 ug4 when i bought it 5 months ago was also setted to 2K RPM, it will help in Run-in. after your 1st service everything will come to normal.

New bike has newer parts, so greater friction between them which causes engine heating much more. everything is fine , just donot RIP your bike during run-in and donot ride it continuoulsy for longer times e.g. 30-40mins.

Okies...will get it resetted...also...i love my baby...so dont rip it and dont ride it for more than 25-30 mins at a go...that too at speeds 50-60 max..

There is no Setted/Cutted/Putted. its just set/cut/put

Guess What! i too got my speedo repaired (literally!!) by a local mechanic. He cut the external cover and exposed the gear. pulled it off and repaired.

The Service Center Guyz on the other hand kept changing (and charging me!) the speedo gears (5 on a whole) and blamed my braking for the frequent visits!

The ideal RPM for ZMA is 1400+- 100, can set it to 1500 initially when the engine is cold, be it like that till first service, then change so that it is at max 1500 when ur engine is warm
