Typically, on the air screw (mixture screw) more than one half turn either way is not recommended/required, so limit your experimentation to this range.

Running an engine too lean can cause severe engine damage, so if you're not sure, don't mess with it.

What the air screw does is to vary the amount of fuel for the same amount of air that is fed to the engine.

      Good luck!
Thanks dude. Now, after turning it out by 1/2 turn I feel a slight increase in low end torque. But, doesn't solve the starting trouble.

      • try turning out by 1/2 more......and do this on hot engine.

        • Tuning needs to be done when the engine is hot (ride it for at least 5 min). Never do it when the engine is cold. I advice not to toss with the fuel screw if you do not know much.

In winters do not expect the bike to start with single thumb press. Set the idle rpm to 1500 when the engine is hot. Use choke in the morning for start, leave it for 10 sec with choke on.

Also keep the air filter clean. Change the air filter and spark plug every 12k to 14k kms.

          • and along with engine hot, the engine should be running at idle speed while tuning.

Unlikely that you'll find this panel in stock. All new stock has the new colour/stickering to the best of my knowledge. Chances are, your cracked panels can be patched up, could you post pictures of the cracked area(s)?

I have reinforced the crack-prone areas on my ZMA panels by sticking an old credit card sorta material cut-to-shape and stuck over the crack-prone or cracked areas.

Always use choke in the morning for cold start and let it idle (with choke on) for 10-15 sec. The purpose of choke is for a cold start.

Jitu, I still need clarification regarding the amount of oil you drained. Please try to quantify, at least, approximately. 200-300 ml less does not harm the engine in short periods.
while you check oil using that dip and take thing we can see the upper level and lower level of the oil marked. The oil level is supposed to be in between the Min and max level when we chek it by Diping it in the oil tank. By very less oil i meant the level of the oil was almost at the min level.

As i told earlier i was planning for a long trip some 2 K km this jan end so i wanted to ensure that my bike is not giving any problems in between or engine is not breakign down due to overheat (Just like what happned to praveen when he was almost completed Hids great tour) .

So i went to HH service centre again today and asked them to check the temp to know whether it is over heating. I took my biek for a 10 km drive and came back and they measured the temperature with some white temperature guage they had . It measured 106 Degree celsius . (romm temperature was 29 degree celsuis). He told it is normal only and i can take the bike for long drive . But i want to confirm everything is ok .

Is 106 degree celsuis is ok temperature for a bike which run just 10 km before testign temp?

Ravi anna please dotn feel annoyed due to my continues queries . I was waiting for this trip for the past 1 year. i want to make sure that bike is not becoming the bottle neck in my trip

                        • Jitu, oil at minimum level on the dipstick is not at all a problem. The engine oil is hardly 50-100ml less, which is not harmful to engine at all. The hot engine you felt is just psychological. Remember, if you had run with little oil, your bike's engine would have seized at some point at high speeds.

I do not know about the measuring temperature, but I guess it is very normal. If something had happened to the engine, your bike would not reach 100 kmph at all and the pickup will be less.

Because you had run the bike with just 50-100ml less oil, which is very normal, do not bother about anything and just go ahead with the planned trip and enjoy.
