    I was using the 10w30 grade oil specified by the company for many years. I have been using Shell Advance 10w40 for the last 3000kms. Not really happy with it. So any suggestions would be really helpful

      Try any JASO MA2 spec 20W40 oils, Like oils from Motul,Shell and Gulf.Not happy with Shell? Why?any reason?

      Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40-245 RS/L,Many karizma users tried and tested.

        I dont know exactly. For some reason within 2500kms it would get really hard and rough.

          Yeah,according to user feedback,it only lasts 1500kms.Gulf will last more than 2500kms. guess its a nice option.

            But its Semi Synthetic right. Isn't it supposed to last a little longer?? Say 3000kms.

                Every oil does that. No matter what the manufacturer says oils only good upto 2k max.

                      i am using gulf 20w 40 oil perfect for touring for short commutation results will be bad

                        @Jusjohn:- Looks like you are planning for a long tour and your bike has done some decent on odo. You can try SS Motul 7100 20w50. Reason? It's more thicker and would last bit longer. That is.. usually the oil gets worn out at around 2000kms. However, it also depends on one's riding style. Touring bikes, usually float at higher RPMs (if you are that kind), thicker oil would remain viscous and maintain the engine temperature. Else, you might start feeling roughness mid of your tour. This is my personal opinion.

                          What about city use (Normal Commuting)? I do around 40 kms a day.

                                Use any 10W30 grade.
                                Cause if you use higher grade for commuting then the results would be heartbreaking. Since higher grade oils take's lots of time to warm up. And will result in hard shifts etc.
