Guys, which engine oil is best for my R15-S. I've been using the Yamalube since I bought the bike home. I've been thinking of changing the engine oil for a while now. But I don't know which ones are good. Help me out please.

Also, My battery discharges and refuses to start. I have not changed the the battery even once since I bought it. I bought the bike in 2017. Could you suggest which are the good batteries in the market for my bike which I can replace for my old batteries.

Motul 7100 10W50 is widely used by R15 owners. It is one of the best options for the bike. The drain interval is also longer compared to the Yamalube.
I usually drain it between 4.5k to 5k kms, and even then the viscosity of the oil is good and it feels that it can be used some more.
Try it out, you will be pleased with the results.
Get original oil filter from Yamaha Authorized service center and replace if necessary.
The Motul 1 ltr bottle will cost you about 700 and oil filter is about 160 rs.

For battery, the bike comes with Excide from the factory and replacing it with same model is fine. My stock battery lasted 6 years and I changed it to exact same model as the factory one. Your bike is relatively new and the battery should not be going out so soon. Get it checked and charged at a battery shop, If it still won't hold the charge, replace it. It will cost you 1200 rs.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Try zic full synthetic oil 10w40.
Go for Amron battery with same power rating.

            Hi All,
I'm a newbie to Xbhp community.
I've recently bought a used R15v2 Anniversary Edition.
Everything seemed perfect until yesterday and I travelled in traffic for few kms n for my surprise i see Orange light blinking. I turned off my baby n the engine didn't come up at all. After a posh in Downwards rosd she started.
I'm complete newbie to Sports bike section, can you guys advise what would have led to such a behavior in just about a week's time b how to fix it??

There are two possibilities, either your injector is faulty or the loom connector that connects to the injector has its pins oxidized. Use Zorrik or WD40 and spray it liberally on the connectors and see if it works. Make sure is battery is fully charged.

Orange light means Engine Malfunction Indicator lamp. It lights up when there is some issue with any of the engine sensors or low battery. If the light stays on while riding and blinking, take it your authorized service center and get the issue sorted.

                  Cheers!

                          Hi Guys,

One of my friend is selling his R15 v1 which is 2011 model. And it is unused since last 2 or 3 years. So if i want to buy that what will be my expenses to restore it? By visual check i can only see that tyres and battery is gone dead. Will the fuel system will be working fine or i'll be looking at more expense on fixing it?

                          Thanks in Advance

How and where it was stored will be a big factor here!!

Get an Allen key and remove the tank and be sure to thoroughly check the wiring, piping and other parts so that any damage hasn't been done by rats/mice. (if damaged, parts are very expensive and some parts could be very hard to come by for the v1 these days especially the wiring!!)

Get fresh fuel and then getting an oil change and filter replacement would be the main expenses and just cleaning up everything and lubing all moving parts would be necessary.

If the bike had any issues before getting stored then those will have to be looked after.

The V1 is a solid bike and can take abuse far better than the V3 junks that are coming out now. Start off with the rudimental things such as brake pads, tires, front forks, chain life. Secondly, and importantly, if the bike fires up. If the bike has been kept unused for a long time, make sure you clean the fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel filter, drain all the fluids, right from engine oil, fork oil, brake oil, completely and make sure fresh fluids are filled, and the brake systems bled thoroughly. The one thing that is a frequent blower in an R15 are the front coneset bearings, replace the coneset bearings irrespective of the condition, and you're all set. This bike is very much a fill it, shut it, forget it type. Make sure you replace your engine oil at timely intervals, and that's all you would ever require in a V1 and V2.

                              Cheers!

I need suggestion, i am considering to buy used r15 v1, bike is 2010 model 35k on odo, its condition is not up to the mark, i am thinking of buying it need a few pointers on its maintenance
                                1) front forks are leaking, i will have to change oil seals with oil, also fork seems to be out, may need cone replacement too.
2)both the tyres need change have no life left.
3)front disk is very abused.. changing disk with pads is must
                                4) chain needs replacement.
                                5) general service with valve clearance needs to be attended
these 5 things are required to get bike into working condition.
what will be approximate cost of all these maintenance
and is it good idea of buying used r15.
or shall i buy new fz?
