      • ^^you're battery is not charging properly, if you're terminals are clean, contacts are good and the battery takes a charge (best bet is to take it for charging) then you have a problem within your charging system.

        • Guys, is it advisable to give my Bike Service @ Castrol Bike Zone, Kukatapally - Hyderabad ? Usually I give at Pearl Yamaha (Gachibowli, Hyd).

Yamaha is charging 500+500 (Engine Oil).
Castrol Bike Zone also almost same. But they said they will use Castrol Power 1 Engine Oil.

Hyd guys, please post the reviews on these two.

          • The R15 gets new rubber

After about 32,000 kms of running, the rear tyre of my bike was finally changed today.
The rubber still had some life, but the minor leaks from previously fixed punctures necessitated the switch.

The rear wheel's rim was also bent, and was straightened before the new tyres were put on.

            Details here:
            http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...tml#post900195

This pic should help give you a perspective of the profile of the tyres:

The tyre on top is the new one, while the one at the bottom is the one that has done 32k kms, & is still attached to the wheel.
The rear tyre looks skinny once fitted on the wheel due to its round profile. Its pretty wide & heavy otherwise.

EDIT: I went in for the stock tyres as I want to do a trackday sometime soon. Heard & read that tyres of other make are less stickier, for the track.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

              • Have a query guys,

At high speeds cornering, or street type cutting. The stability that r15 has to offer is missing.
The rear is jumping at such occasions at slightest uneven roads, i mean the bike doesn't stick to the road as it did.
As the tyres are brand new and after two recent high adrenaline off-road trips.
I am almost sure there is something wrong with mono shock.

I told svc guys, they said they will check it up. But the problem remains.
Need suggestion as on what is required for mono shock maintenance or what should i get checked and corrected.
                Ride On,

This is good. So 9amp battery is supported by the bike in charging as well as our sensors are not going kaput! But still would like to see your report on this in details, which will helps like us to install the batteries and go for projector ligths etc..

If rear part is juming then you have to service your bush setting of rear part suspension/ swing arm. Mech will open everything and service it, replace anything needed and fix it.Probably this could be due to faulty cone set too, because faulty cone set do show misalign characteristics also.Bro best way is to get it checked with other SVC and pay them only if your issue is resolved. Even once i had the same issue and i made SVC rectify it i din't pay them...because they were palying with my bike, later they corrected it.

Charged the Battery at a SVC...terminals clean, contacts Good and the battery got charged to about 13.5V. Put it back but same prob persisted.
Checked with another battery from another R15 the prob was gone. So decided to change the battery and bought an Exide VLRA 5Ah battery for INR1400, fitted it and let it charge from the running Engine.
                    Prob solved. Thank You

Welcome all to the first question on the revamped xbhp R15 thread

Did anyone of you try painting the rims of your Yamaha R15? If so, what are the advantages & disadvantages (if any)?

If anyone from Bangalore has done it, any reliable place to go to?

I had rusting issues in the same area of the tank over 2 yrs ago, back when the bike was less than a year old.

The rusting was far lesser than seen in your pics though. Looking at your pics, seems like the rust is going to eat up the metal in the next few seconds!
& the rust will end up contaminating your fuel, which may lead to blocked injectors/ inefficient fueling very soon

Well, im my case I showed the rusting issue to the Area Engineer of Yamaha, & the tank was replaced under warranty. No rusting in the lid ever since.

I'm wondering what could be the disadvantage in painting the rim? :P
You should probably try posting in one of the bike modification threads, for more eyes.

                          • What is the cost of the fairing part where turn indicator is attached. I had parked my bike in front of a shop and an Alto bumped it and toppled the bike. Got to get it replaced. Thanks

                            • Front brake lever too much travel

                              Hi everyone,

Lately, I am having a problem with my front brakes:
There is too much travel in the brake lever before it starts to engage and when applying full braking pressure the lever presses against my non-braking fingers (i use 2 fingers to brake).

Pads have done 4k km and still have plenty left in it.

Recently changed the brake fluid (dot 4) but theres been no improvement,

I told the mechanic that there is probably air in the system and asked him to bleed the brake.
But I think most of the mechanics here don't really have a clue.

What could be wrong with the brake?

Also, will the KTM steel braided line for the front brake work on the R15? Has anyone tried it?
