My bike is going to touch 50K mark very soon, though last 5000kms were very harsh on her.

If you want HID then it should be be projectors else no!!Originally posted by soullancer View PostHi Guys,
I am looking for upgrading my headlights to HID.. any suggestions on what are the options available and what will be the cost range? In bangalore so anything local will be preferred
Chetan
Because HID really causes issue to front people!! If projector are with it then it reflects the entire light on specific path.
Bixenon HID i guess 6K are for 6.5-7K check ebay for more idea!!
The best is 4.3K, but it's hard to get as normally 6K are available.
AFA battery is concern change it to Amaron 5amp. it gets wells with R15 set up without mod, read some R15 riders used it and no issues.
HID Projectors works for both high and low both lights together, but it's advisable if you use a spare button to light one HID at a time, once it's stable then switch it on the other one!!
And mostly bike should be over 4k rpm so that it gets good recharge!! But make sure you use projectors along with 5amp battery!!

Hate to say this, and I know it's gonna come off as controversial, but V1 is much more flickable through the corners. On tight tracks, it handles better than V2. V2 is no doubt a good bike!Originally posted by speed1985 View PostThank you Shrinath Rao,
You said Yamaha R15 V1 is in demand. Can you please explain why is it so?

Good to know that. However I never felt the difference, may be because I never rode it on trackOriginally posted by awesomeo View PostHate to say this, and I know it's gonna come off as controversial, but V1 is much more flickable through the corners. Hey man did you checked for rusting or some cut wires and all ? Check that too man.Originally posted by revvhard View Postthe kill switch was the issue with my bike too as u had pointed out at the last g2g, replaced it and now it is working fine.
Puspal's issue though i think was solved after increasing the idle

The reason is V2 top end is a bit compromised as compared to V1 though V2 has better low end torque, the free nature of revving which V1 had V2 lacks it, as everyone who owns V1 knows the bike when it hits 7500 rpm at every gear how she flies and gives a feedback to the rider which v2 lacks, again pillion comfort is too bad in V2 unless you ride solo, or get another car/bike for your better half/family person.
Agreed mate any day and V1 throttle control if anyone knows how to use it in daily commute than the engine brakign combine with down shifting is enough to bring the bike to lower speeds without touching brakes, those who dont know it please dont attempt it unless you have an experienced rider with you.Originally posted by awesomeo View PostHate to say this, and I know it's gonna come off as controversial, but V1 is much more flickable through the corners. Ride it and know it or take it on twisties but make sure that you keep the V1 revving.Originally posted by speed1985 View PostGood to know that. However I never felt the difference, may be because I never rode it on track

Agree v1 has better entry into a corner, but mid corner stability is better in v2 and better low end torque helps in a faster exitOriginally posted by awesomeo View PostHate to say this, and I know it's gonna come off as controversial, but V1 is much more flickable through the corners. I know the pillion seat is not favoured by few people and agreed that v1 has better maneuvering ability.Originally posted by shrinathrao View PostThe reason is V2 top end is a bit compromised as compared to V1 though V2 has better low end torque, the free nature of revving which V1 had V2 lacks it, as everyone who owns V1 knows the bike when it hits 7500 rpm at every gear how she flies and gives a feedback to the rider which v2 lacks, again pillion comfort is too bad in V2 unless you ride solo, or get another car/bike for your better half/family person.

but do not agree with, compromised top end for v2 and i have heard this for the first time, are you saying v1 has better braking capability.
I have had head to head highway high revs on both v1 and v2 umpteen times, and mate i can tell you the difference.
I went for v2 after taking test ride on a v1 and its awsome. Not saying that v1 is not good, just that v2 is not as bad as projected. They both are still the best performance machines and on same level.
Peace.Ride On,

yup checked everything, even removed the entire wiring of that stupid remote starter kit. The old kill switch had lots of rust in it...i uploaded a pic of it too from the inside...you can see it a couple of pages back. Once again thanks for the helpOriginally posted by shrinathrao View PostHey man did you checked for rusting or some cut wires and all ? Check that too man.

Got my bike serviced at 16500kms.
Work done included:
1) Cone set greasing. (Rs 200)
2) Front brake pad replaced (Rs 468)
3) Front brake caliper serviced (Rs. 400)
4) Speedo Sensor changed. (Rs. 537)
5) Coolant topup (Rs.33)
6) General service and mobil oil change (Rs. 325 and Rs 505 respectively)
7) tank sticker (Rs.60)
8) oil filter (Rs.167)
They have charged Rs.400 for front brake caliper service. Is this reasonable?

I feel the long swing arm is the advantage here in V2, but if you say v1 has a better entry in corner than how come you think its not stable in mid corner and v2 is ? Please i would like to know this as i never saw any issues with v1 right from entry to apex to exit and it handles mid corner too beautifully.

The v1 and v2 has same braking capabilities my friend and i never told about v2 is bad or something, see its my personal opinion from the experiences i derived from riding both v1 and v2.
Peace. You can do one more thing is remove the assembly, apply a coat of anti rust spray, as that will help you a lot.Originally posted by revvhard View Postyup checked everything, even removed the entire wiring of that stupid remote starter kit. Not saying v1 is bad into corners, because of the slimmer tyre, the ride behaves amazingly in the corners and with v2 that has been compromised a bit. I agree.
But as you said, changes in the swingarmm which was more or less done to control the damage done by wider tyre, gives it somewhat better behaviour/stabilty during mid-corner<@ apex> combined with the rear grip.
Again, its a marginal difference. Not something on basis of which we can pronounce a winner here.
It just felt from your earlier post regarding comparison in braking, my bad.
Either way, our rides still have a kill switch.

Greetings R15'ers
.. It's time to get a New Sprocket for my V1
I would very much like to go for the Daytona Sprocket but I have 2 questions -
1) As told to me, Daytona sprocket lasts upto 1 Lakh kilometers if lubed and cleaned time to time ... is this true ?
2) As Daytona sprocket is bigger in diameter size, it will definitely increase the pick-up.. but how much Top Speed will it hinder ?
I love touching an odd 140 kmph once in a blue moon..
Kindly share your reviews and experience with Daytona sprocket

The daytona sprockets come in two configurations , one with 40 teeth and another with 42 teeth. The 42 one wont make any difference as the stock sprocket also has 42 teeth. But if you go for 40 teeth one then you'll overgear the bike and loose out on acceleration front. Check out this site Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator. Will help you understand a lot better.Originally posted by DeepMahal View Post2) As Daytona sprocket is bigger in diameter size, it will definitely increase the pick-up.. but how much Top Speed will it hinder ?

The 40 teeth one would effect on Acceleration .. So that's out of question for me then..
But the 42 teeth one... will it make no difference at all ??
The daytona sprocket costs 7,500 whereas normal stock one is for 3,200..
quite a difference there... I am confused which one to go for...
I was hoping to get better acceleration without losing much of Top end performance

Hi Everyone,
I got my blue Yamaha R15 today. Drove it for some short distance with some occasional ripping and man it really felt awesome.
It's a second hand bike and just to be on the safe side, I want to get a new set of tyres (both front & rear).
Can anyone please tell me where in Bangalore can I find trustworthy dealer for my R15 tyres.
Current market prices and dealer details (contacts & address) will be greatly appreciated.
Also, Is there an used market for tyres where I can sell my existing tyres? (just wondering)
Thank you,
