  • Hi all,
Sorry for posting here, but am facing a BIG problem with my R15 v2 and response on that thread is slow. So here it is.
Bought R15 (WHITE LE) on 16th Sept 2012. Never brought rpm above 4.5k till first 500kms. Did oil / oil filter change. Starting driving @6-6.5k rpm, with occasional burst to 7k.
Noticed i would cross 100-101km/hr in 6th gear @7k. Never crossed 102km/hr mark. On 901km went in for 1st service. It was last week. Could not drive because of office. Today i started driving and realized that i would cross 100km/hr @ 7k mark ( as usual ) but after that even if i pull the full throttle bike would go till 8.5 rpm only and with speed up to 110km/hr. My 6 year old CBZ-X does better then this.

Any ideas what is wrong guys ?
if it helps i can tell you what speed i get at wt gear and at what rpm.
    1 gear @4k rpm - 20km/hr.
    2 gear @4k rmp - 34km/hr
    3 gear @4k rmp - don`t remem
    4 gear @4k rmp - don`t remem
    5 gear @5k rmp - 64km/hr
    6 gear @5k rmp - 74km/hr
    6 gear @7k rpm - 100km/hr
    6 gear @8-8.3k rpm - 110 km/hr

Can you guys tell me @ what rpm you guys cross 100km/hr mark in 6 gear ?

I do not own a R15, and might be wrong here...
But if you want to get higher speed, the try shifting at higher Rpms in higher gears i.e shift at 6-7k in 4th and at 8-9k in 5th gear.

quite a difference there... I am confused which one to go for...
I was hoping to get better acceleration without losing much of Top end performance
There won't be any difference on the performance front. AFAIK the new chain sprocket kit [Rolon] costs something around the 1400 mark. The older one [DID] was priced at 3200.

        • Okay.. I think I'll go for the normal sprocket only.. Thanks

There is nothing wrong with your bike. You just need to shift at 9,000 - 9,500 rpm to get max out of it.

I think its somewhere around 6,900 - 7,000 rpm in 6th gear. Though nowadays I do not look at the speedo, all my riding and shifting is totally based on the tacho. However, if I am not wrong, your bike is a Version 2 right? If that is the case, your bike will attain 100 km/h at different rpm as the gearing ratios are different from Version 1.

Nope. Not available out here. In fact if you go through the R15 service manual, the method for removing carbon from the piston crown and the head is to gently scrape with a blunt instrument. Though my personal experience since my 2 stroke days, use break oil, it works amazingly well.

Hmm.. But I guess the 2 stroke days were the days of leaded petrol. ?? So there is a small difference.. I really don't want it to ruin my combustion chamber...

I changed to Rolon recently. Its been only 2 months and already there're signs of rust . The older one was of DID make and it lasted for over 35k kms [I take good care of my chain]. For me the DID one although costly is any day better than that of Rolon.

Can't say if yours is Rolon/DID. Check the links of the chain to know the manufacturer. Its written on the links.

No, it won't be a direct fit. V2's swingarm is 55mm longer than V1 and hence the length of the chain is also longer.

                              • Yamaha Service Center - Sewri Mumbai

I got my bike serviced recently at Yamaha's new service centre at Sewri. The old one which was located at lower parel, Sunmill Compound has shut down and relocated to Sewri. It is located in the lane next to Skoda service centre which is a little before Cotton Green station. If you are coming from Dadar, Skoda is on the opposite side of the road. Rakesh who is the supervisor and the guy-in-charge is still with them and I recognized a couple of old hands still with the workshop. The place is much bigger with many more work stations than the previous center. The lounge is also nice and spacious with the washing bay separate from the work station area. May I add that the entire place was neat and tidy. The only drawback is one gets lousy tea and no eats in the vicinity. Here are some pictures of the service station and a few pictures of this brand new R1 that was there.
