I have a strange problem, when i come below 3k rpm, the bike behaves as tho there is a blockage in the fuel. This does not happen on a cold engine, it moves smooth. This happens only after i travel 4-5kms. Its very hard to travel in traffic or crowded streets with this problem where one cannot rev more than 3k rpm. Even on the first gear i cannot travel in less speeds. Even with half clutch acceleration, this happens and the engine stopped twice last night.

What might be the reason for this problem ?

I would be pointing out this during my first service. But wonder what would be the source for this problem. Experts, pls throw some light on this !!
Try a simple solution, when you start the bike let it idle for 15-20 secs and check whether the rpm setting is staying at 1300-1500 rpm in idle position, and than rev it slowly try to ride in the 1st to 3rd gear below 3000 rpm and see if the bike stalls.

    • may be this is early but can R15 V2.0's chain sprocket be fitted to V1.0?? its diameter is big and i think some performance upgrade would be there. and the changes in ECU yamaha done in V2.0 can't be done to V1.0???

Also, does Pulsar 135LS tyre hugger a direct fit on R15??

I thought to cut the rear fender just below the number plate mounts but on close examination, I found that it would look more ugly...

^^ Can anyone reply on the above??

Idling rests perfectly at 1400rpm at all times. Every time when i cold start my engine, i have it in idle for 30secs and move slowly after that. This problem does not occur when the engine is cold, it moves perfectly.

            • Hello guys I am from Navi Mumbai and I have a year old R15. Done 4245kms on it(I know). I wish to take it for a trackday to MMSC. Having never done one before, I would like some advice hoping some of you might have done a trackday. I have no riding gear(Apart from a helmet of course. Do I absolutely need anything else?). Can I just do a normal service and then take it on the track? I don't know where to start. My semester exams end on 23rd DEC. I wish to leave immediately after. Help please!

check out the air filter it may be due the clogged air filter element. clean it and put it back. your bike will be fine. also try to tune it and rest the idle speed!

i also dont have a track experience but as my suggestion. track can be more aggressive than normal riding conditions. you should have give more priority to your safety bro. please make sure that you are atleast having the following gears:-
                1. Helmet
                2. Good condition gloves
                3. Riding boots
                4. knee guardover your denim.

if you have big budget go for full racing suit!

keep your bike well maintained because in tracks your engine may heat up twice more than the normal riding. also try to do race oriented tuning, which could make your track session more enjoyable! have fun; safe ride!

                    • Lost my Idle screw!

After playing around with the idle speed, after installing some kit from Joel, the idle screw fell out a few days back, didn't realise as I was in a rush and had to drive to Bombay the next morning. Anyway I came back this evening and wanted to check the idle adjustment as the bike would idle at 2k rpm when cold and 3 k rpm when warm, the first look revealed the idle screw was missing, so no point going any further.

Now if I ride the bike to the SVC around 13km's or 20 mins, would it do any harm? air is obviously leaking from where the screw once was, so I guess I am getting a very rich mixture, which isn't a good thing, I couldn't find the idle screw in the spare parts list, is it something they should have in stock?

It worked fine but I didn't get any info on how many KM should be acceptable in odometer of bike while taking delivery? It is supposed to be zero?

i'd rather prefer a 2-4 reading..they do ride the bike to check if all is fine..
if its zero, it means they might have removed the speedo cable and might have ridden it longer..
and so can it be if the reading says 2-4..

so, not more than that should be good..
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

                            You are welcome.
My bike had an odo reading of 2Kms when I took delivery, and so did most of ours'.
Single-digit odo reading is ideal, as manufacturers test the bike for a Km or two (on dyno, or road) before dispatching for delivery. Anything more points to mischief by showroom folks.

                            • strange humm..

                              guys,
1- ever since i've got my bike, there has been a constant humming sound from the engine while riding at 60-75kmph in 6th gear. is it normal??

2- since i've started using motul ss 5100 (used it thrice till now), while accelerating in all gears (predominant from 3rd gear onwards), there is a humming sound like beats (beats is the physics wala beats, not drum beats.. like the ones you hear when two frequencies which are very close are heard together )..
exactly like the sound this guy describes here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post552073
                              (third post by bhavandeepsingh)

is it normal?? it sounds as if the engine is under strain..
but no performance issues as such and the bike runs butter smooth..
this sound has increased recently (poured in new oil, changed filter) and has become a point of comcern.. really need help on this..
again, i don't remember the 2nd point happening while i used yamalube ss..but the bike wasn't as smooth running that oil..

                              any inputs would be appreciated..
