  • Reg:: the R15 Not Starting

@Jd- Will try the tank open shut method, I just hope the issue dosent appear again as in your case,I already had a sleepless night
Even before the servicing on 25th Sept it never behaved like this, so I assume its not related to dirty filter or something like that.

But in case of Choked relief hole in tank what could be the longterm solution?

    • hey friends, can i install just a after market projector to my current hid setup ? Has anyone done the same, and can someone suggest about some shop where i can procure the same.

To clean the fuel filler cap with WD 40 or something equivalent.

One more thing i would like to suggest is to disconnect the battery, and leave the bike for about 10 mins. Then reconnect battery and check.

If the fault still persists, then it could be an issue with the ignition system as well ( removing the battery will reset it ), then you would need to get it checked by a svc engineer with an FID.

Thanks JD will try the fuel cap open shut trick and then if the issue still persists will do the discc/reconn battery drill.
Will get back and post what happens on monday, as I have already made my mind to ride till Talegaon during the weekend will try and manage this weekend somehow..

Till date i have not faced any issue with the machine, it just got serviced on sep 25th and was flying as ever till yesterday!!
I parked my bike for 5 mins on side stand(dont have a main stand) and when i returned it just refused to start, i twisted the key to restart the electrical and used the red engine switch to on the engine and tried pressing the ignition for 3,4 secs with the accelerator but it just kept coughing and did not start. I was puzzled as everything seemed fine also the battery is not weak at all though its not being changed from stock(dec08) but it works just fine, usually it starts in 1,2sec of pressing the ignition button.
Then i placed it on 1st gear and brought the bike on lil momentum from my legs and then tried to start it, it started and ran without a issue. I parked the machine at home and returned to check once the engine cools down(2.5hrs later).. Same issue !!
Then i took a ride for 7 km and then switched it off to try again, it worked fine. But on trying 2nd time same issue ! Alas i left it for the night at 1.30 am.
Today morning at 7 am i got up and checked and it started like before just a 1 sec on the ignition and lil accelerator.

But yesterday incident has troubled me a lot, i want to rely on the bike as always and want to make it work fine..
Any suggestions what could be the problem here? Please :-(

bro i think its the problem of your battery. Get your bike to service center and charge the battery fully! Problem may get get solved

It continued to bug me today, the problem has wosrsened
I checked the Idle RPM and it nicely rests at 1200 only, can anyone suggest me what should I do to get it ti 1400 ?
I rode 30 km today very rash making it a point to ride on higher RPM's 6-7K with changing gear only at 7K+ hoping the battery will show some improvement(read somewhere the battery gets charged on higher RPM's)
                  But did not help !!
At 5:00 PM the bike started on 3rd attempt, later at 6.30 it started only at 2 attepmt after trying 3 times then switching off the engine and electricals too.
even now its disappointing me starting at 5th, 4th attepmts. I am really frustrated and will not touch it tommorow (no weekend rides too)
I guess the next time Im gonna touch it will park it at SVC... WHATEVER it takes I just want it to work NORMAL !!
I am not sure if the battery needs charging cause everything else works absolutely fine on the bike once it starts.. and usually SVC guys should charge it in servicing rite? I mean i din mention it on 25th Sept but I suppose they would have..

Mileage depends also on the external factors like riding style, tyre air pressure, chain (tight/lose), quality of fuel, how you maintain your bike and all.

Not the city . it was Mumbai to Lonavala and back by Nh-4 highway .. roads were open ..shifted gears around 6-7 Rpm .. i did not rip the whole 396kms ..

besides, got my disk pads and disk changed before i went for the trip .. chain was perfect .. fuel that i used was Bharat Petroleum ..tyre pressure was right, bike has been maintained perfect .. there was a problem which i was facing from 6 months which yamaha was not able to resolve and i had got it solved later .. the engine was overheating because radiator fan was not working so they some how got it to work .. do u think during this time the engine might have been damaged or something ?

PS : when the red light for system overheating used to come up i used to stop the bike and let it cool for sometime ..

                          • First Service done @ 613kms.

                            Parts:
Yamalube 4T 20W40 SL : Rs. 236 (Is this Mineral oil ? The SL confuses me )
Element Assy, Oil Cleaner : Rs. 148.50 (what is Element Assy ?)
                            Chain Clean : Rs. 50
                            Chain Lube : Rs. 52
                            Coolant Oil : Rs. 50
                            Labour:
                            Consumable : Rs.32.50

Total (inc. tax) : Rs. 650

Does the above things normal for a 1st service ?

The bike was little smooth after the service, braking is better.

But sadly the below mentioned problem still persists To my bad luck, the bike didnt show the problem as i test drived for 5kms after service. But came up after that. Now its difficult to make a start from signals, i need to rip till 3k rpm before i leave my clutch. Slow moving traffic is worst nightmare

I have a strange problem, when i come below 3k rpm, the bike behaves as tho there is a blockage in the fuel. This does not happen on a cold engine, it moves smooth. This happens only after i travel 4-5kms. Its very hard to travel in traffic or crowded streets with this problem where one cannot rev more than 3k rpm. Even on the first gear i cannot travel in less speeds. Even with half clutch acceleration, this happens and the engine stopped twice last night.

What might be the reason for this problem ?

I would be pointing out this during my first service. But wonder what would be the source for this problem. Experts, pls throw some light on this !!
Now since the problem occured on the same day of service, i hope it is not because of blocked oil or air filter (because the service guys would have changed it if that is the case)
So what might cause the problem now ? Does this have anything to do with the FI system or any problem with my engine itself

                            • Hi all fellow R15 riders, i've been facing this problem for last few hundred KMs, whenever i pass through some broken/poor/rough roads, there is a rattling sound from the underneath of my bike..it sounds like as if there is a plastic box with a few metallic parts inside and someone is shaking that box....when i pass over a speed-breaker, there is no sound like that, but, only during riding through broken roads this sound comes up...i did check the body-kits for any loose ends but, could not find any.

anyone faced this problem before? please do let me know.
