Even my new rear tyre had got a lot of punctures so I got it tubed and after that I didn't have any issues. Though now the rear tyre is heating up fast but it's under the comfort zone and besides that my everyday air filling hassle is gone.Originally posted by Ascetic View Post

I got the new battery after 2.5yrs and 48K kms. Clutch plates are still doing good job. Overall the motorcycle feels alrite. However, its the time to get new cylinder-piston. 59K kms that my motorcycle has done includes all high speed touring on NH1, NH2, NH8, NH21 and NH22. I have done some crazily fast and torturous tours for the motorcycle. Normal life should be much higher, around 100K kms atleast.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThat is nice to hear. Hope mine is not in a bad condition-the coneset is expensive.
Before that I need to get my rim repaired!
That aside, how is the bike overall at around 60K kms.? Clutch plates? Battery? Engine wear?
Replacement is advisable at around 15K kms. I changed the first one at around 24K and the second one is still going strong with 35K kms behind it. NGKs are of no use, just waste of money. Go for the stock one.Originally posted by Prakritij View Postwhen does one change the spark plug? I mean at how many kms? my Bike is mis firing 1-2 times during start-up(not every time but about 60% of the times).
is it a spark plug prob or something else. my odo stands at 9200k
Front and rear tyres are similarly priced at Rs1800 each in Delhi at MRF Exclusive outlets.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThat's ok-he has made 200 bucks profit, not too much.
In my case he made the same 200 bucks on the front tyre whose lowest price is 1600.
I agree, there's nothing like a fresh pair of boots for a motorcycle.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostMultiple punctures is a fair indication of the abuse the tyre has seen. I would suggest avoid a tube like plague and plonk in fresh tyres.

Will a change of spark plug solve this?

But i have just clocked 8K on the odo. The rubber seems to be good and the treads too are in great shape. Just that the central half bald line was facing minute holes so had to get it tubed. Doesnt the tire last long enough?Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostMultiple punctures is a fair indication of the abuse the tyre has seen. Hi Sarvajit.. how this went ? is it finished ??Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostIn fact, it is the opposite. First apply the stickers, then clear coat above it. Idea is to spray a bit around the edges of the sticker also so that they don't lift up.
I'm getting mine done this weekend. Will put up pics once the whole work is done-rims etc.&most of the body parts need to be dismantled&taken to the painter. Lot of work to be done for this cosmetic makeover!R15 - V1 - Red

Ok, so the battery started showing signs of weakness after 2.5 years?Originally posted by Vikas the Shokeen biker View PostI got the new battery after 2.5yrs and 48K kms. 59K kms. engine work doesn't sound very good buddy-this bike is meant to take a lot more abuse. Do you have any oil drinking or smoke coming out, compression loss issues?
I was told by the Yamaha guys that this bike has a very very long piston life.
Santa can confirm this-he has also done many many tours on his bike.
The parts are going to be dismantled this evening&taken to the painter tomorrow. Bent rim also needs to be repaired in the meanwhile. Lots of work to do.Originally posted by d4smart View PostHi Sarvajit.. how this went ? is it finished ??
Last week we tried this clear coating on my older bike's tail portion which had similar stickers on it. The sticker is thick&we were doubtful whether clearcoat can seal the edges without dropping/bubbling, but it seems to have turned out fine.
Only good/bad thing is it shines like hell-I'm not used to my bikes shining like that coz I rarely wash them. Wonder what the bike will look like after the work is done!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Can you throw some light on how to repair bent rim?Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThe parts are going to be dismantled this evening&taken to the painter tomorrow. Bent rim also needs to be repaired in the meanwhile. Lots of work to do.
I went through a pothole at 70kmph day before yesterday and there is a small deformation at the lip of the rim
. The tyre's loosing pressure @ 23 PSI a day. Right now I'm filling air twice a day.

It is the same in my case also-a small bend but pressure is staying at around 30psi.Originally posted by chiku181 View PostCan you throw some light on how to repair bent rim?

I am looking for a shop which straightens alloy wheels with a heat press. They have special die machines for this.
I wish it was a spoked wheel-I would have just hammered it back into shape!

Not really sure if spark plug is at fault but you won't do any harm by changing it. The stock one isn't too expensive either.Originally posted by Prakritij View PostAll I want is a cure for the start up mis firing which is a Daily affair now

It drinks and smokes only at high RPM, I can clearly feel the loss of compression and hence loss of power too. And mate, you don't even have an idea about the abuse my R15 has been through. Let me show you a trailer and you'll have a fair idea about the film. I am a regular on Delhi-Chandigarh and regularly do those 250kms under 3hrs. I have done Delhi to Pune and back in 4days. Delhi-Ajmer-Pushkar-Delhi same day. Delhi-Lucknow-Delhi same day. Delhi to Udaipur in less than 10hrs. Oh, I forgot to tell you about my off-roading tours to Laddakh and Himachal in worst of monsoons too.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostOk, so the battery started showing signs of weakness after 2.5 years?

Obervations - the first 250 Kms
Hi all,
My new V1 has run 250kms.. Had a great time throughout.
I move back and ride if i go past 70kmph and i love that riding posture. The real feel of a sports bike
Have a few observations and clarifications for you all:
1. There seem to be a mild vibration in rpm range of 3k-4k during th 3/4th gears. I felt smooth after i cross 4k. Havent reached more than 5.5k in this gear range. First i wondered will this how this bike would be above 3k+ ?
how would i do 10k if its like this
. But the smoothness after 4.5 gave me peace of mind
2. I was riding on rpm range of 3k-4k for some 15 mins and i slowed down to around 2k range in 1st/2nd gear. There seem to be blockage in fuel and the bike behaved as tho the fuel level is very low. The fuel was above F-. This seem to happen when i ride at constant speed and suddenly slowed down to 2k range. It does not happen when i start my engine and move.
3. A gear engage did not happen right when i moved from 5th to 6th, speed was around 50kmph. It behaved like being in neutral when i gave acceleration. Tried twice but it failed to engage. Then lowered my gear, i guess it should have engaged 5th and then came back to 6th, no issues. Happened just once.
4. Planning to change my engine oil twice before 1000 kms/first service. I would ride to around 700-800kms for the first month. So when is the best time to make this first engine oil change.? Does it necessary to change oil at 1k kms even if the service happen at 800kms ?
5. Rear brake is so mild than i expected
. Didnt work even like a drum brake
Wanna check it during first service.
I kno its a long reply
and my questions might have been repetitive
Thanks for your time

don't worry.....it happened to most of us I think(even me) but after First Service it went away. tell the mechanic to tighten all the fairing bolts or else DIY, there's an allen key for the same in the tool kit

does it happen all the time or occasionally?

rear brake is spongy as in all sports Bikes. try using front and rear brakes in 70:30 percent ratio

White smoke from exhaust after the service !!
I had serviced my R15 at Orion two days back (9k km). The replacement stuffs are :
1)Spark plug
2)Front and rear disk pads
3)Engine oil (Though I insisted on filling semi-synthetic oil, they have put mineral oil without even ringing me up. Reason told was that there is no stock of SS or FS oil with them. Usually I put SS oil)
Now bike has started giving a problem of white smoke from the exhaust when the engine is cold and just rev it up. I went to the service center. But they asked me to ride it for a week so that if oil is burning, they will be able to see that. I asked them what if there is some damage by them, they said that it will be replaced under warranty.
What can be the possible reason for this ??

The tyres are pretty good (infact, one of the best) and can easily last upto 15k-20k kms range.Originally posted by Ascetic View PostAnyone please?
The problem you seem to convey, may have happened because of keeping the tyres under-pressured.
Try to keep the tyre pressure to the optimum level. Its a soft compound tubeless tyre and is much more prone to punctures as compared to hard compounds. The best way to avoid punctures is to keep optimum tyre pressure and avoid patches having sharp gravels.
For you,I would suggest go for a tyre change and keep the above factors in mind for future.BTW using tubes shouldn't be an issue for sometime.sigpic
