Hey same here...
I've done quite a lot of touring on my R15 since I bought it.. Till now it was almost like every weekend I had done a trip.. U can check the trip logs also..
The latest one and the longest on R15 yet was a >2000kms Goa ride.. and my bike too has taken quite a lot of beating..
Specially in my Goa ride, although roads were very nice, some of the roads in Raigadh district and near Panvel were poor. Lotsa patches and pot holes with sharp edges. I was trying my best to avoid them and also had succeded to quite an extent but still had hit some of them.
Also during my 400kms night ride to Ahemadnagar, due to blue light bulbs which me n my friend had installed then, the visibility was very poor and even at that time bike took some heavy beating at quite high speeds.
I had been reading about incidents of rim bending and cracking since long back here on xbhp and therefore used to get scared whenever i used to hit a pothole at high speeds.
I always used to inspect both the Rims as soon as i hit a pothole..I used to pull over immediately.. But thankfuly no probs regarding rims yet..Ketan Nikharge.

Not sure if the information provided was correct.. can anybody clarify please??
I had changed the oil back to Yamalube from Castrol Power 1 that is why changed the oil filter. Last time I went for my 2nd service they didnt had Yamalube so went for Castrol else they were about to put some gear oil.Last edited by biker boy; 01-15-2009, 11:27 AM.One of the awesome feelings I had in my life is to see the world receding on my back mirror

Hitting potholes at high speed
@All: My 2 pence on potholes: I learnt this only after damaging my bikes a few times: When you know that you're about to hit a speedbreaker/pothole at high speed and there's no sufficient time for braking, try to raise yourself a bit above the seat by holding the handlebars. This will prevent bottoming out&reduce damage to the suspension/rims/fork. I have tried it&it works! Sometimes it glides over potholes&simply jumps a bit on speedbreakers. Be sure to grip the handlebars tightly though!
But in ANYcase, DO NOT try to jam the brakes-this could be hazardous!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Guys had a horrible day yday.. my front disc pads was worn out completely . Searched the entire Bangalore all the yamaha spare shops were closed ...yeah yeah i know it was a holiday here, but TVS spare shops were open
neways.. going to get the disc pads today..
here is a pic of the front disc pad. and my suggestion if you think the disc pad is making noise after 5k kms .. change it ..dont waste your time to see a compatible disc pad you will rarely get it ..Converting Halogen / HID headlamp setups to FULL LED.
Please fill in this survey so we can help you move to FULL LED Headlamps

Thanks for the pic. They look almost similar to the rear ones... Which make were they? Pls give a photo of reverse side also, (once u change) and possibly the new ones while changing.Originally posted by navnish View Posthere is a pic of the front disc pad. and my suggestion if you think the disc pad is making noise after 5k kms .. change it ..dont waste your time to see a compatible disc pad you will rarely get it ..
Your pads were worn out. The spacer line is also not seen. I opened up mine at 9K (4th service), got them rubbed with sand paper, blew pressured air and fixed back. They are due a change at next service, and hopefully not before!
Yes, they do. THat's the reason you have to change them immediately...Originally posted by mithun.08 View Posteven if you don't apply it will be rubbing.. and that metal hump has screwed my disc also..

Sure, I stay in Behala Sakherbaazar. You?Originally posted by souvikb83 View PostHiii buddy....where do you stay in Kolkata???let us plan for a meeting
Oops. Yes, now I remember. I was confused between you and archibaby. Also tell me something, the low beam bulb has two filaments? Because my adjustment of the low beam is fine, but when I switch to the high beam, the light spread goes further up.....Originally posted by DriftKingNT View PostI was the one who said that. I very well know how to adjust it but the SS gust have no idea about it.
And another question, the svc needs to clean the air filter in the 1st service (1000kms) right? Or is the cleaning interval every 2000kms?You get the point?? :D

try to make yourself light, stand up on the pegs & the impact will be much less...,Originally posted by R15Rocks View Post@All: My 2 pence on potholes: I learnt this only after damaging my bikes a few times: When you know that you're about to hit a speedbreaker/pothole at high speed and there's no sufficient time for braking, try to raise yourself a bit above the seat by holding the handlebars. potholes, breakers just anything & never ever ride with a pillion at a speed in which u can't control & deviate

Spotted this R15 with some real serious performace modification..

This shows how far the posers can go. On enquiring the owner of this NOS equipped R15 shamelessly told me that this NOS system was earlier used on a R1 and when i told him that this NOS pipe of yours is not connected anywhere he comes up with that he has ordered the NOS can and it will coming from Mumbai and that it will bring the real Dhoom effect.
A$$hole..
