I had received NGK Iridium Spark plugs today. I had ordered the CR8EIX but DSG had sent CR9EIX by mistake. I have sent it back and will be getting a CR8EIX soon.
Update us abt any change in performance after using it..

Even I need to claim insurance for both my wheels. I have no mind to pay Rs 6500 for a set of wheels!sigpic

I rode to trichur last weekend, so hit the side of a pot hole at some 80kmph. Not a hard one, just a soft THUD and the side of the rear rim folded. The front rim has a little wobble, which will matter when I hit the track.Originally posted by mithun.08 View PostWhat happened to your wheels
I have smashed the rear rim back to shape with a wooden piece and hammer. Its holding air pressure now. So havent bothered much. Will claim insurance and have the wheels changed after a week.sigpic

I guess this bike though designed for track, was specifically meant for India and Yamaha would have know about the Indian roadsOriginally posted by archibaby View Posthow many of you guys have got the speedo buzz (disappears if you damp the speedo with your finger). I got it after my last service and am planning to put some foam to correct it. minor stuff.
Also .. these alloys were not designed to take the impact of hitting a pothole at 100 odd kmph. hit it at 60-70 and you won't have a prob. It's strange man .. you buy a bike meant for the track, put it through potholes at track speeds and then cry over bent rims. Agreed about the safety issue and all I see is a recommendation to ride the bike at reasonable speeds on bad roads.

. Also my friend has a R15 which has bent rims when he hit the pothole with a pillion at around 50-60kmph in the city.
I mean when you pay a bomb for the bike and get sub-standard quality in one of the parts you are bound to get disappointed. I dont see a point y people wont crib. The parts ought to stand by some abuse if not unminded!!"Bikes + Music = Nirvana"

Well I dont call it sub-standard build. Its no fault of Yamaha if the rims get bent. The only problem is that our Indian roads succk bigtime.
The R15 has light weight alloy wheels which do an excellent job of offering very less rolling resistance. To make an alloy wheel withstand 100+ kmph pothole abuse, the wheel will weigh more than twice. Then dont crib about performance.
We'll get modern and meaner bikes only when the damn infrastructure of this country can change.,sigpic

Absolutely agree with Joel. As a company they cannot gamble this big (read: bad quality rims) with a 1 lakh plus selling price bike. They dont want people to stop buying bikes and have set up additional infrastructure to answer the hoards of complaints that would follow.Originally posted by Joel View PostWell I dont call it sub-standard build. Our problem is indeed bad roads. I do not know much about other locations but its pretty bad in Mumbai. I dont remember seeing a road without a pothole. Seen a bit of Pune too. But not enough to generalise. Mumbai has pot holes even on highways that lead people into and out of the city. This is dangerous with most accidents happening while trying to avoid these, or losing control on higher speeds when goin over/through them. Leave alone bikers, this is a bad situation for everyone. Looking at them i wonder what people having sbks or even cars with low ground clearance must be going through.

I've ridden the Unicorn at high speeds on potholed roads. Speedo indicated 90-100+ on the notorious pothole ridden Chamaranagar-Kollegal roads. At such speeds I just felt the bike flying over the potholes without actually touching the base of the pothole. The potholes were pretty big but the uni just sailed over them. Also, the potholes were spaced far from each other than being very clustered. I also had a pillion on most of the times. Now, the R15 has 17 inchers compared to the Uni's 18 inchers. Is this making the difference? Also, have you guys experienced this "sailing" over the potholes when you hit them at high speeds?
