  • okie..few feedbacks and updates on my R15...

right now its resting at Peral Yamaha and waiting for its radiator to be changed. It was leaking since many days and had to give my bike to them since they dint have stock ready, I was told that I will get it on monday.

BTW..when I saw the amount of coolant left in the radiator, it was around 50ml-100ml, But still engine was running pretty good, no over heating and never saw indicator glown

And updates on costs of few parts that i have changed after my small fall

Side panel (Blue R15's sport R15 on them) around 520/-
Inner panel (where we can see the mesh placed now is aroind 230/-
    Indicator (rear one) cost 130/-

and come the best part...Labour charges...170/-...damn this takes just a 15mins work and dont need any skillfull mechanics for that.

My bike has done 9800kms...Still running on same disc pads on front and rear and I am sure they will run for more 1500-2000kms...

Chain...Needs a regualr care, Cleaning it with Motul Chain spray and lubing with Motul again...pretty happy with them. Chain was making sound intialy, but got it adjusted nad doing well again.

Last service (4th) was not at all satisfactory by Pearl Yamaha... i am sure they havent done the minimum things that has to be done.

I need to ask the guys who have tried Speed 97 Petrol on their R15's..
I have noticed the fall in topend and acceleration when ever i use it..!!! But on normal petrol it good agian.

hay guys,i dont know if any of you have gone through his articles, but this guy is huge on the underground and weekend racing scenes in the usa,and unlike most us tuners,he respects and has indepth knowledge on jap machines. His views on breaking in/running in are very controversial as it goes right against what the factory manuals say, being a mechanical engineer and working in bosch gives me a fair idea that this guy aint bulshiting,u guys can go through his posts, advice you to start reading from post 1.

Your engine oil loosing the viscosity has to do with overheating of the engine and the first thing that comes to my mind is the cooling system of the bike. This overheating results in vibrations and crappy gear shifts too. Make sure you get the cooling system checked (full checkup). After all its high-tech liquid cooling system. The official engineer might help you out.

I get my tires checked every 5-7 days and in that span I loose around 4psi. The tubeless tires runs well even if its punctured.

I hope the above info is of any help to you.

            Goodluck!
Thanks bro,Atleast someone tried to help.Your post was quite helpful to me thanks again bro.. : )

                  It costs 480/- only

I have changed mine at 400kms....reason..cos i feel that this time the maximum wear of the engine is done in its runin period, and oil filter accumulates thud sludge.

Did they change the engine oil at the service or by what ever chance did it get skipped? I ran my bike without coolant for a few hundreds of KM's before reaching the SC but never did the engine over heat and obviously the engine oil did not take beating.

The radiator would have that much but the engine would have coolant in its jacket.

Didn't get what you really meant... by any chance, is thare a change in the Blue Panels?

The sprocket is supposed to be an alloy one and surprise that it doesn't cost much. What about the front sprocket cost?

Also, someone said the kit costs abt 4K. If chain - 2.1, rear sprocket = 270 then front sprocket should be <200 so total less than 3K... is there anything else in the kit?

The chain is a DID one most probably made in their Indonesian plant. But that cost is too high.

Speaking of India jugaad... this chain doesn't even have a link lock... it is a complete chain as one set

on any bike u pull the wheel backwards to tighten the chain... here on R15 there is a numbered disk that you need to turn for this adjustment

Oil filter is now available at most SC's and as per the manual you need to change at 1st service (1K KMs) and then every 10K KMs thereafter.

After topping up with Power1 all the vibes are almost gone and the bike is comparatively a lot smoother but still harsh than the !st serviced engine. And the gear box problem remains and has become even more clunky and feel like a enfield bullets gearsift. When i discussed this with the SS manager he said that they cannot open the Gearbox as they are not allowed to do so from the conpany,so he said that he'll fix an appointment with the Yamaha Official engineer(U.P region) i need suggestions,Advice or help from u experienced guys.

PROBLEM NO.2:For the past few weeks my front tyre is loosing pressure from 28 to 19 psi in 1 and half week and its skidding like a Tvs tyre under a little hard breaking(u can't even call it hard breaking.).It was not like this before. And i don't trust these SS guys for this,so i haven't told them this.Any Advice plz...

you better approsch the regional office and take up these matters...your tyre may not be fitted properly on the rim...get it checked for any bends also...
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........
