I did read the posts on the R15s that have covered a bit. Which got me thinking - I felt that there are more 'older' R15 owners out there who are not as active now as before on this thread. Was looking for feedback from them now that their steeds have done a good number of kms.
False neutral is nothing surprising. Its actually a very short (maybe 0.5sec) gap when the bike realizes that its in neutral and the green light lits up. But actually the gear is not completely free. So this causes a jerk to the bike. I've faced it, but I do not think its something major till the time it annoys me. Happens rarely, more of a luck thing!
BUT, as you are saying that green glows and the bike can still move with release of clutch then you can look over it. The error shouldnt stay for such a long time.

What about the guys who have ripped the bike from the beginning itself , how is the bike behaving after the first few services ? Any different from those that have followed the 'conventional' running in pattern ?
After 7.5 the real power kicks in. After 10 the bike is monster! I've done 4K/2 services/3Months. Performance and engine sound increases with every km you ride. Ripping your bike from beginning will kill it basically.

There might be something wrong with your bulbs. sorry about that Guess 1000/pair is really a high price.

Now even my bike is showing weird electrical problems. The brake light glows up without even pressing the brakes, rather it glows before I turn on the light itself But not always, only when the bike is not in good mood maybe
    Fear is the Trigger!

Is this a common problem/character building flaw or is it something that I need to get investigated during the 1st service ?
P.S - It happens occassionally, say once in 3 - 4 days max

I remember many saying about this false neutral when they were running in the bike(even me)., but none of faced that issue after the first service. So hang on buddy.. i have done 12K so far and haven't faced any probs in the performance(but many other issues starting from, Oh... a long list)

I also face this issue at times(esp after giving a wash to the bike). I don't even need to switch on the park light, it'll glow by it's own. At times bike will glow one eyed, give a tap to head light assembly, it lights up

Last week i experienced a weird experience, The bike choked couple of times and engine stopped. The tank was half full and I tried to start the bike starter gave a Tuck sound and that's it.. I switched off the bike and after some gave a try again, It started normally.. This happened couple of times on the same day...

        • Unavailability of spares

          Guys,

Recently the front tire assembly of my bike (black R15) was stolen right from inside the compound of my home. This includes the tire, cast wheel, front disk and other small components (14 in all). I assumed that it would be covered under comprehensive insurance but was informed that only bike theft is covered, not parts theft. Anyways I decided to purchase the parts, but to add to my frustration majority of the small parts were out of stock. I inquired at Pacer (where I purchased my bike), Perfect and Orion Motors but its the same story everywhere.

Its been 10 days since the theft happened and I still see no early resolution of the problem. I inquired at Pune too, but the parts are unavailable there too. Can anyone suggest me an alternative to end this misery. I have had to keep the bike locked in the house since then.

Also is there any way to keep the bike more secure in future? Remote locking, etc?

P.S. I had posted this query as a new thread but I didnt know what happened to the same...

            • @ Ares - Damn cheap of whoever it was to steal the front tire assembly. Feel real sorry for you man. I know, you start getting restless and fidgety if you dont ride the bike atleast once everyday. Send Yamaha an e-mail, I'm sure they'll get things moving.

I'm also thinking of putting in the NGK P-power spark plug. Its just remove old spark plug and put in new one right? No special stuff? Because I hate to run to the svc for jobs like this.

BIG P.S.- I think the sms that I'd sent worked. The svc that I'm talking about is Leaders (opposite South City Mall) and it was in a pathetic state. When I'd been there, it was being cleaned and refurbished! Yamaha must have checked that and sent a warning. Along with me there were many other complaints, and everybody was very pleasant and well natured when I went there, asked everything that I was unsatisfied about and replaced missing fairing screws. They also made me sign a satisfaction form. So people dissatisfied can actually get things done. I've already got a list of things to do in the next service!
              You get the point?? :D

You must see the Venkateswara Yamaha's Service center here in hyderabad. Looks like a small mechanics garage.

am very sory to hear that
try putting a front wheel lock
i dont think remote locking is a good idea, morover it will remove ur warranty(not fully sure about warranty)
and first thing do a puja in temple

You forgot to say do all this 'after you get the wheel replaced'!
Coz, he cannot take the bike to the temple or fit a wheel lock since it does not have one at present!
Jokes apart, my sincere empathy is with you&I truly understand the pain. I would just say, better losing a wheel assembly than the entire bike itself!
                    Quench my thirst with gasoline!

                    • @ svjhonda: Thanks for the suggestion buddy...will surely shoot a mail to the Yamaha guys...I am riding my friend's Pulsar since then and now I know how much I really love my R15...it just makes me feel so not in control without the bike

@ saurabhdayal84: Had done a puja in the temple immediately after purchasing the bike...but guess 'Honi ko koi nahi taal sakta '...abt the remote lock, the guys at Orion mentioned that they can fit it in 1500 bucks and it would still be in warranty while Pacer Motors where I purchased the bike told that it would void the warranty...so need to give it some thought

@ Sarvajit: Guess I would have felt better had it been covered under insurance, but anyw...just hoping to get the bike back on the road asap

It makes me feel ligher though sharing my concerns amongst fellow xbhpians. Thanks a lot for all the support and advice guys...

                        1) The windscreen was not correctly alligned
RC: The Bracket on which its mounted had a manufacturing defect.... got it replaced for free
                        2) The clutch gets jammed...
RC: Problem with the clutch wire.... got it replaced for money :I
                        3) The bike has a tendency to wobble to left... not sure whats the issue... will take it to SVC by Sunday
                        4) The bike has a problem in gears... the transition from 4 to 5 and 5 to 6 is not so smooth.... even in transiting from 3 to 4th the bike seems to suddenly have a surge in speed almost as if it has an automatic transmission...
                        5) The Disc has a lot of scratches...and has a spongy feel!

Now all of a sudden I am not liking this 1 Lakh Bike for all these niggles....
I am not really comfy giving it to the SVC here for issue#4... any ideas on what the issue might be and best places to get it fixed...?

Hey Apar r u listening?? Me n Aparjith were(are) facing this issue. He had sent a mail to Yam and dey surely did work on this.. But don't know how far it's rectified..
In my case it started after changing the fork oil, and still not happy in how dey rectified the issue when I complained abt it.. I don;t feel confident on the bike as before........

                          • Yeah, am hearing it all loud and clear. SP, dont leave it man. I think u have got a real defective piece. Normally, if the parts are not available for a bike the SC guys take new parts from a bike at the showroom and use it. And put the old parts on it. I think u got such a bike. Just keep raising this issue and ask for a complete replacement if necessary.

The bike moving to the left is still present Joe. Am not leaving it here. Am totally dis-satisfied with Yamaha and its bf'ing mechs. Am going to take this issue up as high as needed and resolve it.

Yes! Do that! I believe every bike has some or the other defective parts in it, but its just whether how big an impact the part that turns out defective has, varies from bike to bike.
In my case, I have been experiencing silencer farts-no particular scenario in which it occurs, so can't say exactly. Sometimes I don't hear it for days&sometimes I heard it 2-3 times on a single ride! Now that is puzzling!

After clocking almost 5.3km on my R15 i see that the visior problem is getting sever by the day. Anyways could anyone throw some light on performance upgradation now! any information regarding the ecu mapping and may be 2Brother exhaust sys, or anything which could result into performance gain though it might be marginal. But i shall request others, please post some remedies which shall not harm the Engine any any way whatsoever!!!
