Could you share some info about how to fix up the LEDs to our bikes? It would be helpful to many. I request you to spare your valuable time for novices like me.

Get the Yam accessory-no need for any modification. I am asking another xBhpian/some other friend to get it from Bangalore. I know it is overpriced at Rs.500 per bulb (1000 a pair), but is really 3 times brighter than local LEDs as claimed by Yamaha. I felt it is worth it (I didn't feel the same about the single seat cowl though). I have used it&compared it to local LEDs while installing, by putting in both at the same time&know the difference very well. As for the manufacturing defect, one of them had a defect since the beginning. We cannot do anything about that. The other one doesn't have any problem&wil not have in the future too, I presume.

        • There are two things I can make out from my RVM for a vehicle that is about a KM behind me. One - a P220's Projector lamp. Two - the R15's LED Pilot lamps (accessory ones). To me, that speaks volumes in saftey.

The yamaha LED is expensive but they are really bright.
Speaking of LEDs, anyone knows if there are LEDs available which can blink (with interval)?

            • Hi guys.. Mumbai xbhpian gang just returned after Ganpatipule ride.. I was one of them..

              Got one question...

Has anyone used fatter rear tyre for R15? Anyone..? I heard one of the most famous tyre dealer in Mumbai(Metro Tyres) suggested 130/70 low profile IRC for rear. Will 130 section tyre fit without any mods?(Dealer is confindent that it will... )

Secondly.. are IRC tyres good..? There was a guy in the Ganpatipule ride(xbhp id/name: ajinkya) who rides a P220 and has an IRC tyre at the rear. According to him tyres gr8..

I know the stock tyres of R15 are the best fit for the machine but just want to know these two things. Please please reply..

              • Where do I write travel-blog on XBHP?

Hi guys, just completed one-way trip to Mysore. For some personal reasons, I had to return by KSRTC, transporting my bike with VRL. Can somebosy tell me where do I publish my travel-blog on XBHP?

It was a 975 km journey. I did Pune Hubli on day 1 & Hubli-Mysore on day 2. & guys... this machine is kiiling! I was riding alone & never felt unsafe for 1 moment, because of my machine. She stood well by me in the Belgum-Hubli stretch (rode it after 11pm), Haveri-chitradurga (bad patches of road & searing heat) & even better at Chitradurga-Tumkur (Koolest road I've ever seen, though heat & strain was too much).

Man... I think buying this bike was the only worth thing I did in last 2 years.
                And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. And God saw that the light was good;

Ketan, IRC's are good. I guess "No second thoughts needed about it. But 130 section is a bit overkill for R15... it just manages not to touch the swingarm and with extra load I was told that it touches. May be try 120 section... probably that's the max you can go without disturbances.

Thanx bro.. I knew u'll b the first one to answer the questions..

Well m not sure yaar if m going for those tyres or not.. but was just asking..coz I may go for it.. Actually there's some work to b done on the bike..
Handling is totally *ucked up... Only I know how I rode those 370 odd kms of the return journey of Ganpatipule. Taking the bike to the service center tomorrow.

When I started the journey from my home on Friday, early morning I felt something weird with the handle. But that was too too fine and unnoticable. That's why thought it may b coz of the bad tyre pressure and checking the tyre pressure soon on the way will solve the problem.

But it didn't. The problem is spread everywhere. I mean i m not able to figure out wht exactly is causing the bike behave like that.

What happens is, initially the bike was stable at high speeds and on straights. But when I used to slow down the bike, the handle suddenly becomes hard and stiff. Specially in low speeds like 20-30km/hr. Bike simply used to refuse to take orders and turn the way I wanted it to. If I turn the handle say in 45 degrees, bike wud trun only 30 degrees or sometime used to snap back giving a small jerk.

I somehow did the first half of the journey. Then the moment started the return journey, I noticed the problem had worsen. And trust me, it was real bad. Earlier the bike used to act like that at low speeds when I used to hit the brakes, but now that speed had risen high and she started behaving like that at any speed under 60km/hr. The moment I used to use any brake, she used to dance like hell. Specially the handle. Ohh god..it was bad bad feeling in the ghats and on the corners. And Kashedi ghat..man o man.. ghat full of hairpins and sharp curves. I had real tough time.

Guys like Ajinkya Shadoboy who knew better than me bout the bikes told me it may b the problem with the cone set(i hope the spelling is correct..)

So m gonna go to the SS 2mrw. Let's see wht the prblm is. Therefore asked bout the tyres. Coz I was thinking of going for an IRC tyre for the rear(wasn't sure bout 130 or 120). and shift the stock rear tyre to the front(100 section).

Bout the 130 section tyre, wht u said is correct I guess. Even I felt like that that 130 is a bit too much for R15. But the dealer seemed so confident and said hw has done that on so many R15s, made me think and ask here..

One last question, will using IRC at rear and stock 100 section at the front hamper the handling. I mean I'll b using 2 different comapny tyres at the same time. That's y. Or if at all i decide to change the tyres, is it advisable to go for both IRC - front and rear?
                      Please help...

                      • yeah... that is the fork cone set problem and even I am waiting for parts to arrive...

Get a proper front tyre if you want to upsize... putting the rear tyre at the front would mean you loose out on wet grip. Also, a change in pattern of front & rear tyres does effect handling... so does changing tyre sizes.. to what extent is something that needs to be tested by someone I guess.

Dealers just want to push stuff. 130 tyre does fit in... that's where the dealer's job ends.. he's got his money. I have seen 120, 130 & 140 section tyres on R15's rear at the SC and have noticed the wear pattern. Hence the suggestion.

                            • R15 rocks!!!

I was just back from my first long ride on the R15. Chennai-Bangalore-Chennai. A few observations:

                              1. Was belting the bike both ways. Did each way in 4 - 4.5 hrs flat. Mileage - 35kmpl, Chennai - Bangalore and 33kmpl Bangalore-Chennai. Did the first 185 kms from Bangy in less than 2 hrs

                              2. Top speed - 143 on speedo. With a tankful of Petrol, a saddle bag weighing some 20 kgs and myself another 80. Not on an incline. It was a flat spot on the highway. Was crouching. Did this both on the to and from journeys to check and verify BTW my bike has done only 7.2K on the odo!

                              3. The handling was still bad. And the culprit is the front tire. Guys, using R15 for short commuting beware!!! The front tire has small humps all over the surface which is causing lot of issues. This is cos the tire heats up on our roads really bad and since only a small patch is in contact with the road, this uneven wear is happening. Moreover the fork is a bit tight causing more issues. I think a tire change should solve the problems.

                              4. HIDs rock!!! Both ways were done on night and the HIDs were just like daylight....

                              5. No back pain, shoulder-pain etc by God's grace. Am just having some tightness and pain in my thigh.

                              6. Got the engine malfunction light twice while doing some 130 with both HIDs running and while I was honking. Did not know what was ausing it. Then found that its because the rear brake switch is gone and is continuously glowing draining the battery. Switched to single - beam and the warning light disappeared. Planning to use a 15W instead of the stock 21W. else planning to go the LED way. Lets see.

                              7. Running on MOTUL 15W50 fully synth and it held up really well. After this blast, no heating, no vibes nothing.

                              8. Got a really good LED for the pilots. Its a combo of 4 LED bulbs in one. Got the blue color. Its really bright. Will post a pic morrow. A bit tired now. Costed 100 bucks a pair IIRC on JC road.

                              9. AM IN LOVE WITH THE BIKE ALL OVER AGAIN...

                              • congrats sir.
handling is bad cos of the saddle bags.
on the r15 , any extra wt makes it take a toss.
Thats my two cents on the reason for bad handling.

Good u happy with the HID's

Top speed-- apar--honestly -- thats BS.not saying it dint go 143, but that aint 143.. just 125 +.
                                The speedo is nuts.

                                Who ll give u 15 w bulb ?

use a 10/5 for taillamp instead of 21/5.

Check coolant level , spills sometimes after such bashing.

                                Nice ride i guess
