I have just sent a mail. I think they will co-operate. But the SC's sure are not competent enough. Hopefully the issues are resolved asap. Seriously, the response from TVS and treatment was much better!!!

And where did u get the discover front sprocket? I think u have got it seperately, right? Even I need one

I got it from a bajaj spares showroom in a village near kasargod man. Cost some 100 bucks with the screws and the patti which goes with it. I dint have access to yamaha service on the ride so went hunting and got it.I feel you should get it . check it out . The yamaha parts are too expensive . my rear axle nut got screwd . got a new one yesterday from perfect riders cost 185 rs . . Guys do you know that the plastic screw on the front faring costs 75rs each .This is what the spares guy told me. He himself admits everything is expensive here

            • I did a 700 odd km ride over the long weekend last week on Santa's R15. I just thought I'd share my opinion of the R15 as a long distance bike.

              1) Obvious point: Torque, or the lack of it. I had to keep constantly high speeds and work at maintaining the speed because I don't fancy shifting down 2 gears whenever I need to get back up to speed after a balked overtaking maneuver etc. Made life a bit tough.

              2) Cruising: But once a certain cruise speed was achieved, it was an absolute delight just soaking up the roads. It easily ate up the distance, and did not show any signs of stress whatsoever.

              3) Fuel tank capacity: Even though I averaged 40+, the lack of a bigger tank did irritate me. Plus, I'd fill the fuel up to the very brim, and the added weight made the bike slower during the conditions described in point 1.

              4) Aero: I've never encountered such an aero/weight bias sensitive bike. With saddlebags on, the rear was all over the place and it was a lot more harder flicking the bike. In a straight line, it did not show any signs of greatly reduced performance, because I could clock 125-130 while tucked in.

              5) Tyres&handling: Enough has been said about the tyres of the R15, and I've already mentioned the handling aspect with the saddlebags. I think the ideal way to go is to get a tankbag on this bike. Saddlebags, although having more capacity than a tankbag, will kill the bike's characteristics. Also, I tried tinkering around with the air pressures to make the rear more agile, but to no avail. Increased the pressure to 36 PSI (as against 33 recommended), and it became a bit more easier. Tried to experiment with the suspension as well, but did not do it in the right way, so I could not analyse the change in behaviour.

              6) Comfort: I didn't have any issues with the riding comfort of the bike whatsoever. I particularly like the seat of the R15, which is far more nicer than the one on the R1..
Anyway, the riding posture is aggressive, but it's not as bad as people who like straight-up positions perceive it to be. Just some time on the saddle, and with the weight of the body correctly distributed, there won't be any sort of body pain/discomfort etc with the R15 over a long distance.

Points 3&4 can be termed as unfair, since the R15 is a focus bike towards the track, and the weight saved is more important. But being the misuser that I am, a review of the R15 as a tourer was inevitable

Otherwise, I was very very happy with the bike. It gave off a feeling of utter reliability, despite all the other drawbacks. I guess that is also equally important while on a longish ride.

You R15 guys are a lucky bunch, but I'll have one just solely for the track, where I'm sure it's an absolute demon.

Thanks Santa, for letting me safeguard his bike. It is also working beautifully as a commuter as both my bikes are grounded.

Going over potholes or bumps, I get a metal-hitting-metal sound. Have sent another mail to Mr. Ramkumar, regional Business Head about this. Lets see what the outcome is. This is just so frustrating!!!!
Hey aparajith, I experienced the same problem for past few days. That too when I was 400kms away from Mumbai. Only I know how I managed to keep up with the rest of the group and ride back home safely. That's true, it's very frustrating. Once I was home, I took the bike to the SS. Problem is with the fork cone set but the new part wasn't available at the SS. So they have ordered it. Price they told me is Rs. 1400 for the entire set. Is it correct?

I am so very scared reading ur experience that even after taking the prob to the SS it isn't solved. The part is arriving on Monday probably. I just can hope that the prob get solved. The feeling of jittery and shaky handlebar is just unthinkable.

A very good quick-review on the bike, Akhil. Like you said, the bike flies when it does start to generate pace at the higher rpms. Its just the quick overtaking bits that are you have to be a little finicky about.

Low tourque, you need to get used to two gear shift down

You should have tried Kriega (with bungee cords ) it would have been better

Not only u, almost all of us are. I primarily use it for office commuting too. At least u averaged 40+. I was pushing it and I averaged only 30+. Imagine my horror when the fuel gauge started blinking some 60 kms before Chennai and similarly before Bangalore!

Yeah man, even I think its an issue with the cone set. But my question is how can a bike shag its cone-set off so soon. I have done only 7.2K kms for God's sakes!!!! And these guys I guess have not replaced it yet on my bike. Have to push them for it..... So much for the product quality of the famed Yamaha!

well even i was surprised man.. my bike is just a shade above 6k kms. I've never performed any stunts on my bike nor my bike had a fall b4. Mumbai xbhpians know in wht condition I've maintained my bike. Anyways, no two machines are identical but Still m not able to figure out the reason behind this.

another prob that m facing is, my front brake is literally lifeless. I mean it just feels so but it's not like that. Actually the thing is there's too much slack in the brake lever. There is punch and bite in the pads n brake but one has to pull the lever till the very end of it which gives a feeling as if the brakes are completely worn out or there isn't a brake at all. Shadowboy, one of the mumbai xbhpians took a small test ride on our last ride, and had his b*** in his mouth. There's too much of slack in the lever. I showed it to the SS and that guy has promised me to look after to the point when he'll service my bike for cone set. He said the pads are fine but we'll have to flush out the brake oil and put in new brake oil to improve the pumping. Wht ever it be, I just want my bike in proper shape. It really hurts to see the bike in this condition even after taking so much care..

Good luck to u bro. Hope the prob gets solved on ur bike...

                            • Call-back from Yamaha

I just got a call from one Mr. Anoop of Yamaha India. He said that he had recieved an SMS about my issue sent as email and a call I had placed at Yamaha office and he was attending to it. It seems the guys are organising some races at Kari and MMSC. They are also organising some Yamaha Service Campaign it seems. So all top and important guys are out of station. They will be back only by this month end or May 1st week.

He said that they had replaced the cone set earlier. He was surprised that the issue was still persistant. He asked me how I ride, if I stunt etc. I told him about my kinda usage and how it all started. He has promised quick action and that the issue will be sorted out. Jovin(sk8er_joe) had also complained of the same issue after his forks were opened up last service. He has agreed to gimme a call once he is in town and this issue will be resolved for both of us.

The phase of waiting and keeping fingers crossed begins....
