^^^ I'm using a good fully synth for Rs 330. Also, when most semi synth oils are priced abt Rs 300, what's the point Yamalube is trying to make with their Semi synth oil priced at Rs 415?
is it that good? does it have more synthetic component than other semi synths?

HIDs and BOM-PNQ-BOM NITE RIDES
[quote=Joel;173047]Got the HID installed last night. Just one on the right cluster. Neat.
Dear Joel,
could you pl post some details of the HID,
Brand
cost
wattage
DIY or installed by Mech
Kelvin rating
Has anyone got delivery of HIDs ordered from USA?
Got back in town after a 2month duty tour to Lucknow last saturday evening and was apprehensive about the start up since had not disconnected the battery, hadnt expected the trip to be that long,
Anyways,the R15 was a sorry sight,dusty,pigeon droppings (in a garage!),
tank had a abrasion near the filler cap?cause,
cleaned her up,switched on the ignition, selftest ok which meant the was some juice left in the battery, thumbed the ignition, motor turns but no fire, two more tries with a twist of the throttle and she breathes fire!!
hurray for the R15 designers and Yamaha.
Couldnt wait for daylight for a good ride so at 0430 was of to Pune to visit the family and wish sonny boy all the best for the CBSE boards, passed by Vohuman cafe Pune at 0730,not bad for an oldtimer.
Same night ie Sunday drove back to Mumbai 0300-0600,both ways non stop.KPL @42,max speed 114,av cruise at 80 due to limitations of stock lights and oncoming traffic headlights.
BTW 114 is the top speed of my bike ( ? maybe dueto approx 1 quintal of muscle and sinew riding her
)

Exactly I also felt the same, a semi synthetic for 415 is too much. Was planning to go for Motul full synthetic, but then the SS guy said this Yamalube won't void your warrenty as Motul will. I feel it should have been priced somewhere around 300.Originally posted by HydBiker View Post^^^ I'm using a good fully synth for Rs 330. Yo dude! I wanted to ask you a question... I was going to Kalyan last week. I left Pune at 3pm. When I was riding from Khopoli to Panvel, I encountered strond wind. For a long distance, I had to keep my speed down to 60-70 in order to keep myself from moving sideways. Is it a reguler problem, or do you think something wrong with my riding style/posture?Originally posted by singhisking View PostCouldnt wait for daylight for a good ride so at 0430 was of to Pune to visit the family and wish sonny boy all the best for the CBSE boards, passed by Vohuman cafe Pune at 0730,not bad for an oldtimer.

Didnt face that anytime on any of the occasions.have done atleast a 100 trips betwn khopoli panvel (i stay at panvel) and 8 on R15 infact as soon the ghat ends its a plain road where u can easily rip and maintain a constant of 85-90.Originally posted by Adway View PostYo dude! nope. using a suitable grade engine oil from any make is okay. How'd they explain their SC's using Castrol / Motul or any other thing when the YamaLube was out of stock?Originally posted by R15Rocks View PostUsing any oil other than Yamalube voids the warranty right? That was a hint to HydBiker.
If needed, you can go to Consumer Court on this part.

some of the lazy buggers started it and everyone caught on
Were your tyres over inflated?Originally posted by Adway View PostYo dude! I wanted to ask you a question... I was going to Kalyan last week. I left Pune at 3pm. See, every vehicle faces problem with strong winds. What matters is how strong the wind was and how easily the wind can pass through your vehicle.
Having said that, with optimum tyre pressure I had no trouble doing a ton or more speeds during the heaviest of the cross or head winds I have faced so far on the R15. Once my tyres were over inflated and there was some trouble.
Uncle ji, I am surprised by the amount of (what's the right word here... patience + passion + khujli + etc...) X you have for riding. At that time of the day, non stop and at your age.... a strong statement that is!Originally posted by singhisking View PostKPL @42,max speed 114,av cruise at 80 due to limitations of stock lights and oncoming traffic headlights.

Hi guys,
I bought a black R15 last month(shes my first ride!
). She has clocked over 1.1k kms. I got her serviced yesterday and have few issues. I got the engine-oil and oil-filter changed and the chain lubed. Couldnt get the coolant topped up as they didnt have stock! And, now, some chick-chick sound is heard and the engine has lost the charm, it has become somewhat harsh!
Can anybody help me overcome these issues? Some inputs would be appreciated...

The engine turns a bit harsher as it opens up. Won't stay as smooth as a new one.Originally posted by Srijan View PostHi guys,

The sound u hear is the chain sound. lube the front sprocket too... adjust the chain tension.
If the coolant level is seen in the reservoir then it is okay. Else you would need a topup.
If the problems continue, pls get ur bike to our next G2G and we'll r(a)ip(e)-test her

I thought the same...chain-noise. Actually, I got my bike serviced from pearl, and I noticed the sound when I reached khairatabad. So, I took the bike to opal and the guy over there said the same thing and said, it would disappear after 5-6days.
The service guy at pearl did adjust the chain tension. He loosened the nuts on the either side, checked the chain play, and said it neednt be tightened at this point of time as the tension is suffiecient. What shall i do now to fix the noise?
Btw, where can I find motul cleaner and lube spray in hyd?
