  • Hey guys, excuse me if u feel m still stretching that topic ahead..but that's not what I mean to do..but I can't resist sharing my point.

I too own a R15 and have been through such experiences lots of times. Latest was when Me, Darkknight, Anirude and another non xbhpian were riding to Pune for Passion Hunt event.

There was a guy on a Pulsar150 with a pillion and none of those immortal souls were wearing any sort of protection..not even a helmet. When they saw 4 R15s riding back to back, they lost their balls and started inviting us for a race. As long as the road is free and there's no danger to either us or anyone on the road it was fine. But then he was riding like Darkknight can explain it better than me.. It didnt take us any long to smoke him..though we didn't want to do it.

Such riders are everywhere and as far as possible we should try and avoid them, coz that's the best way to get thru the situation safely and also show them the difference between them n us. Even in our Pune case, we tried ignoring him so many times, but that fella just kept going bad to worse. He literally cut us twice or thrice.

I myself owned a P200 and I respect Pulsars a lot..Infact even today, P220 in one of my most fav bikes in India other than R15. It's never the bike, it's the rider that makes the difference. Many people still consider only straight line speeds and drag results to decide who's better than who. But it's not just the speed guys.. There are many more things which makes a bike good or bad..like Handling, fuel economy, looks, reliability, consistency..etc etc..

I still see people admiring R15 and in the end.."yaar..Tyre thoda mota hona chahiye tha.." When will they understand it's not bigger the better anymore.. Everything has it's own significance.

Anyways, Let God bless these guys.. Nothing else can be done with them..

    • Just got my 4th Service done. Have switched to Yamalube SL Semi-Synth. It costed me 415+10 Service Charge. No one knew about the powdery type Yamalube chain spray. They are still using Motul, which itself was running out of stock! I tipped the mechanic to use some on my bike. Will get it soon for myself though.

Anyways, a few good things which most of us have been waiting for:
      1. Permanent centre stand is available officially now. Cost around 200 Rs. No need for welding, no reduction in ground clearance.
      2. Performance upgrade kit from Daytona will be launched soon-all rumors are correct, they have an ECU remap, exhaust ready&are supposedly working on the rear tyre. They are confident it will generate around 22bhp.
      3. They are also ready with a 250 but are waiting for the Ninja to be launched.
My info is from a senior official in Yamaha who has denied me the permission to quote his name. Please do not start any debates. I don't want this thread to be locked.

I had a similler experiance with a ZMA guy. Before we go further, let me say that I've nothing to say aginst ZMA. He teased me into racing him. Now, even I don't accept the challenges of this sort, as I don't feel the need to prove if my bike is better than his or any such stuff. But then this guy started doing some non-sence & decided to race him.

Funny part was, at a certain point, My bike was making 10kRPM & this guy started inching ahead of me. He was trying to look smug (ended up looking a fool, though), giving miles & all that... After that I just put 6th gear & zoomed ahead of him while he was just gaping...

I was reluctant to post it, because there was a similler post here, some days back. Although that was a friendly race, the observations were quite simillar.

On the background of 2 such experiance, I am qurious to know, 'what's this issue with ZMAs?'. Can any ZMA owner put a light on it?
          And God said, "Let there be light" and there was HID Kit. And God saw that the light was good;

Btw, what about the engine noise and behaviour? When'll it become alright?
All will be gone with time. Most of the vibrations are due to engine. Once a few services are done and you are on a good semi synth, it will be smooth.

8th march is when you can expect an official word. I'll set up a thread for this as soon as the details arrive.

Other cities can expect this event too, btw. I don't have the dates at present though.

                    • @Adway: Look at the ZMA redline. You’ll understand the issue. I guess this is OT!

@DarkKnight: I’m also thinking about the rear tyre. Doubt whether they’ll stick to the same, or maybe give a 110 section&call it a better tyre!
As for the stand, it is confirmed, I’ve seen it myself-it was new, with the Yamaha wrapping all around. They have not yet launched it officially coz they’re waiting for the axle bolt in the center.

@Vibhanshu: I have got the semi-synth Yamalube 15w50 oil filled today. Too early to talk about it, but somehow felt the engine growl was a bit deeper. Or it could have been in my mind too-have to wait&watch though!

                      • yes they have actually tested with 110-120 rear but these ain't special tyres or s compound tyres. These are actually stock tyres available in the market and not like the stock ones created specially for the R15.Hence am not sure.
for centre stand you referring to the one that service centre guys use(i already got it for rs.400) or a permanent fixture?

Its not the one that they used to use earlier-He showed&explained the difference also to me today. It is a permanent stand just like all other bikes have!
As for the tyres, we just have to wait&watch what he gives with the kit!

There you go, some good news for all you folks up north who were saddened by the lack of motorsport activity.
Yama Ride Tech Challenge was something they used to do with the Gladiator SS/RS. It is no race. I saw many brochures of that in Hyderabad few months back. Check ti here:

                                Hope this one is different!
