      • R15 - whistling sound

        Hello,

I got my R15 serviced yesterday, for the first time after completing 1200kms .. Its been 2 days that I am hearing a whistling sound near the engine. I do know the timing of the sound and its not too loud, but definitely audible at signals. Is this a problem?
The mechanic said its quite normal for R15 to make that kinda sound !!

        • Heres a heads up for Bangaloreans looking to buy the R15. Last week I had gone to Panache & they told me that the additional charges are affidavit (250), hypothecation (250), NoC (100) & emmission test (250). Had posted the same here, thanks to everyone who replied.

Went to Orion & they said that their charges are affidavit (250) & hypothecation (250) only. Anyone picking it up from Panache make sure you dont pay the extra charges unnecessarily.

On a happy note, will be submitting my documents tomorrow & should get my blue bike on saturday from Orion. Big grin !

              Hi,
have the same on my bike also and was assured by xbhpians that its the air vent of the fuel tank/pump.So dont worry, its normal, will also hear it when the bike has been parked after a ride,
              enjoy your new bike,
              and remember to be ATGATT

              • highside

highsided on a tight right corner at ~50. Went in a lil hot, tried to lean over a tad too much, lost the rear, cut throttle immediately, regained traction, and highsided. Not much damage to bike, fairings on left side are totalled though.

@ singhisking: ATGATT is right on sir! (Is that your rottweiler in the avatar??)

My helmet saved my head, i didnt have elbow guards, so suffered some shredded left arm skin. My knee guard also shifted a little, so lost some skin on left knee. My jacket was textile, so shoulder also suffered some skin loss. Looking forward to getting back with complete gear this time.

I cannot over emphasize the importance of ATGATT right now. Please wear it! The damage suffered by the knee guard and helmet show where I could have been without them: possible fractured skull, and broken knee cap.

If the noise is irritating you, open the fuel cap once and close it. The noise would shut out for a while. If it doesn't, then the noise is not what we are thinking it is and you better get it checked,

That is surprising! The premium fuels were supposed to have lubricants and cleaners added to them. These cleaners help in lessening the carbon deposits and also clean the minute dirt in the injectors.

                  • I've joined the club of chain nose...My bike started making the chik-chik sound after 4th Service&lubrication! I don't understand how that could happen after lubing it. Maybe he over-tightened it! Anyways, I'll give it a few days&go back to them since I have to go there in a few days anyway.

I also faced the same problem. Lubed it again, no improvements. The real problem was it was over tight. Got it fixed and all the noise has gone.

Expected this...so should I get it loosened or just it run it for a few days so that the chain loosens up on its own due to running?

Hey I am in Chennai and went for the R15 racing on 8th March.
                                Sadly not an ownerOnly spectator..
They had some accessories on sale.
One Protective gear, I found really nice. As per the guy there at the stall, this is best for India. You can wear on top of/below shirt/T Shirt.
Cost Rs.5000, but he told me that it was for sale at the track for Rs.3000.
The protective caps were all CCE certified. Please explain anybody what that means?????
