called up the ss at malad they say that the clutch cable is not available with them but it is available at the ss at andheri.....
are these the normal cables those are used in all other bikes or is there something special about them?

^^ You should be able to any clutch cable! But preferably use that as a stop gap solution. Before go out for a long ride do change it the proper ones!
My bike was running on Autorickshaw clutch cable for about 2K kms
, had a snap in the middle of a highway!

update about the clutch cable...
just came back from the ss...
they still dont have the clutch cables...
went to andheri ss and got it from there for Rs.88/-
r15 clutch cables do not need lubrication as they are frictionless cables. got this info from the ss itself.
got the clutch cable fitted at the malad ss. no labour carges....Last edited by tulinisarg; 03-13-2009, 07:17 PM.RIDE HARD... RIDE FAST... RIDE SAFE....

That doesn't mean they're totally frictionless. Every moving object in practical usage develpos friction in current age technology as long as it involves two surfaces rubbing against each other. It might just mean that these cables develop lesser friction than competition..but definitely not zero! Even the manual mentions that the clutch and accelerator cables should be properly lubed at regular intervals by the SS!Originally posted by tulinisarg View Postjust came back from the ss...

could be to the connecting points. the cables are sealed type with an oil seal at both the ends and lithium grease (pre-lubed) inside.Originally posted by digislayer View PostThat doesn't mean they're totally frictionless. Exactly, and clutch cables snap at points where they are connected. Never heard of it snapping inside!Originally posted by HydBiker View Postcould be to the connecting points. the cables are sealed type with an oil seal at both the ends and lithium grease (pre-lubed) inside._________________________

Hello guys.. I was away from this thread for quite some time now.. Took very long to follow all the lost pages here..
There's one question friends..plz help.
My bike has done around 5.5K Kms and I recently have done my 3rd service. My question is is there any particular time limit or specific Km range at which one is supposed to change the brake pads?
How does one find out whether the pads are due for a change or not? Any particular sign or symptom?
I dont feel considerable change in the braking since I bought it but I dont know why, I find my previous bike's Pulsar200's front brake much better than the R15. I dont know how true it is but that's what I feel.
Please guide me through this. When should I change the brake pads and how do I know they are due for a change?Ketan Nikharge.

Bend down and see your brake pads, there's a cut mark for indication + cooling. if you cannot see the cut mark then the pads are worn out. You may want to place a mirror below the calipers & see it for better view.Originally posted by ketan_r15 View PostMy question is is there any particular time limit or specific Km range at which one is supposed to change the brake pads?

They need replacement when they are worn out.
That is what you pay Rs 685 against Rs 145I dont feel considerable change in the braking since I bought it but I dont know why, I find my previous bike's Pulsar200's front brake much better than the R15. I dont know how true it is but that's what I feel.
Well, the cost is not completely justified as they are imported.... but the fact is that R15's brakes provide progressive breaking as against Pulsar's sudden application. But then, the R15 stops quicker... doesn't it?

No idea..but then, I have some personal experience to support what I just posted. My accelerator cable started acting crazy, it wasn't rolling back due to loss of lube or drying of lube or something. I put some Zorrik spray into the cable from the opening near the "play adjustor", and it got solved quickly. That explains lubing it does help and make a difference, doesn't it?Originally posted by HydBiker View Postcould be to the connecting points. the cables are sealed type with an oil seal at both the ends and lithium grease (pre-lubed) inside.Sunny.

The acc n Clutch cable come with an inner lining. Plastic covering , if it gets cut/torn in between the length anywhere , it affects the movement.
Just change the cable , no lubing or circus will help.
