That is what you pay Rs 685 against Rs 145 Well, the cost is not completely justified as they are imported.... but the fact is that R15's brakes provide progressive breaking as against Pulsar's sudden application. But then, the R15 stops quicker... doesn't it?
Where exactly m i supposed to look for the pads? Is it under the golden caliper housing?

All the broken clutch wires have reported that they were torn at the clutch lever, It the place where the cable bends at 90 degrees...I guess thats quite a common place as a 90 degree bend is too harsh on cable to operate.

Mine broke off somewhere at 7000kms...luckily right in front of a mechnic shop..got it changed with a gear wire of some scooter . later changed it in next servicing.

suggest you all to keep a spare cable in bike.

No i mean seriously.. this is just an act of desperation and nothing else..
It wont b too late to see a platina with R15 fairing and the person may add under seat exhuast to enhance the oomph factor...lol..

In this case even the colors are miss matched.. The front fairing is of different color and the tank is something else.. I wonder how on earth he rides such a bike...lol...

            • ^^^ Ketan. pls check the point where the disc enters the calipers... there is a pad on each side hugging the disc. The friction material is different from the metal plate ... observe carefully.

From Thy's photo, the gap u see there is where the disc is supposed to be!

do u see those groves on the friction material? That's the one u gotta count.

                      Rs 3K for the alloy
                      Rs 150 - 200 for the valve
                      Rs 150 - labour

Insurance claim gets you ~ Rs 2600 - the before taxes cost of the alloy.

                      • i m not blaming yamaha for me goin through the pothole...
but on other bikes i have gone through bigger potholes and nothing happened...

i know the alloys are made lighter and thinner to reduce the overall weight of the bike...

but then in a country like india u need wheels that can that can take much more than this and that is the only thing which i want to highlight...

                        • I never heard that an alloy got bend or cracked apart from this R15, even the local made alloys are better then this. Of course one should blame Yamaha for its quality, they should prepare it proper way to cope up with the Indian road, because they are selling the bike in India and gaining the margin from here only.

And FYI weight reduction is not an excuse for such complain.

                          • I'd come on strongly against Yamaha for the alloys on FZ. Well, an indication that international standards don't always work for India

But for the R15, it is made as a track bike and we were not told to ride it as a street/tour bike on potholed roads. Also, they aren't that bad. I have hit numerous potholes at high speeds and got a bend only once.

Other bikes are not a far cry from this... the Alloys do get bent but the ones are the R are a little more prone to damage than others.

the long term CBZ xtreme in "BS motoring mag" also got the alloy bent.....
as the guy took a pathole in high speed....

i would differ with you on this...

in a country like india 95% of the owners will never take it to the track not because they dont want to but because of the lack of availability of the infrastructure itself.....

having said that, R15 is first and for most a street bike which has excellent track capabilities!!!
