Are thare any plus points of using synthetic oil apart from increasing engines life?

and yeah the oil filter, they said it still has got a life so m gonna replace in the next service
but the bike comes in factory filled SS right? that means even for running-in the r15 uses SS and not Mineral.
Edit: don't you wanna increase the engine life :P

    • Hi Guyz,

I am facing a small issue. Perhaps you guyz could help me with it. My bike has completed 23k kms. For the past few days my bike's exhaust has become a louder than before, not that i mind it, but i hope its not any issue. Also, my bike does not start in gear, is something wrong with the clutch plates?
Also finding it a little hard to wheelie.

The only changes that I've done is that i used motul ss oil for the last change.

      Any suggestions would be welcome.

      Regards,
      Abhishek

      • Anyone tried fitting 9amp amaron battery on r15? Does it fit after some mods on the battery box?

        • ^^^ yes, have been running it for more than a year now. You will need to cut the battery box to make it fit. But is fits in snugly.

              • newly fitted rear disk getting hot...

                Guys,

I got my R15's rear disk and disk pads replaced in the last service last Saturday. I have a daily commute of around 60km(30km one way) and most of it on highway. I checked the disk for past 3-4 days in the evening after returning from office and observed that this new disk is getting heated a lot, sometimes it is not even touchable by hand. Comparatively front disk is not catching any temperature and I found it cool always .
What's wrong with this new disk, or rear disk heating is common among all the R15's? Has anyone faced such issue so far?

It is common for the discs to get heated if you use it more...
If you use rear disc very often then no problem...
Else put the bike in center stand or padock stand and rotate the rear wheel.
If you hear screeching sound or if you find some friction, the rear disc is overtightened. Get it to te ASC and loosen it a bit.

For the starting issue, ask them to check the clutch switch which is located under the clutch lever holder. For the exhaust note, I don't think that is a problem. According to you, your bike has covered 23K, I suggest that you get a compression check done. Also if you have been abusing the clutch by pulling wheelies and stuff, then get the clutch examined as it may have worn out.

Remember, abuse of you bike will come at a price and the price can be far more than what you thought while you were getting your trills.

                          • Fuel pump replacement!

Was facing starting issues for some time, and for the last week or so, the bike wouldnt start at all sometimes. Need push start since I was stuck on the road. Left the bike at the Yamaha SVC for check, and just received a call from them saying that the fuel pump needs replacement, which costs 7500!

                            The battery is fine.

                            Has anyone had similar experience?!!

Bike is 2 year old, with 16,000km run.

                            • Yup. Just replaced the fuel pump couple of weeks back. While I had no starting problems, since the fuel pump was not providing enough pressure, there was a considerable drop in top end performance. My bike is 3 years old, 17,000 kms done.
