              • Anybody using a XENA disc lock alarm here? Any pointers on which model would suit the R15?

                • @all those who have a main-stand/ by any other means can lift their rear wheel :

I urgently need to know whether it is normal to hear a loud whining sound when you slot the bike into 6th gear and rev above 4k rpm...

if it isn't normal then what could it be??

also, when the bike is warm, i hear a ticking sound which is loudest for 10secs after starting the bike, but seems to vanish after that..?? the mechanic checked the valve clearances and said it is normal, tappets acc. to him are fine..
                  they don't have a clue!
                  what could it be??
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

Suspect chain slack and see to it that its properly lubed. My bike shows the same symptoms when the chain slack is wrong or its not lubricated.

Check your front sprocket, if you haven't already, any build of gunk will make a noise.

                        • I am facing staring trouble in my 2.5k km old R15(2months old). Every morning when i try to start, i have to crank it at-least five times to bring it to life! And that trouble does not happen again. But next morning it happens again! I heard that battery could be the culprit...but it is a 2months old machine which has been used regularly! Any pointers on this issue?

R15 not starting within a second of cranking it? That is definitely indication to some fault within. I suspect it must either be a blocked/clogged Fuel injector, FIP or your battery must be down. But if the battery is low, then the bike shouldn't crank at all. If you are able to crank it five times, then battery is fine. It must be the injectors.
                            D'oh!

Thanks for the Info! Battery is fine. I guess its the FI. But its sad that a two month old machine has this problem!

The ticking sound is normal. its the metal components which have expanded due to heat and are coming back to normal. relax.

the squeaking sound is also present, its the chain squeaking around the drive gear ( which is smaller than the rear sprocket ), causing it to squeal more since it has to go thru a smaller radius , hence a tighter turn. If your chain has too much lube, the sound will not come.

Try this. Open the fuel cap in the morning, and then start the bike with the fuel cap open. If the bike starts, its a breather hole issue with the fuel filler. If the bike still gives trouble, then its a possible clogging of the Fuel injection system.

easier way - To use a fuel injection cleaner additive like Pennzoil ( if i spelt it right ) Or else get the fuel injection assembly washed properly at the SVC. Something could have possibly clogged it.
